We were hesitant to stop, but the owner convinced us to take a table. FIRST MISTAKE! Like most of the restaurants in Rome, they were eager to seat us but then we spent 15-20 minutes before anyone came to check on us. Eventually we ordered SECOND MISTAKE! When the food came it was a mixed bag. My son had risotto which was good. My wife had a side of mixed vegetables and artichoke that was on the good/ok side (it wasn't expensive). I had the swordfish that was awful. I'm not being critical either. It was lukewarm, bland, and had a bad taste. I only ate 2 bites. I would have sent it back immediately, but our server never came back to check on us until she brought the bill. When she asked how the meal was, I told her the swordfish was not good and showed her an uneaten dish. Her response was "it was fresh so I don't know what to tell you." *Simply because a protein is fresh doesn't mean it can't be cooked like shi*! When I told her I wanted it taken off my bill, she said it wasn't possible. The owner, who was so eager to seat me was eating at the table behind me. I told him the dish was horrible and his response was a dismissive "too bad." Literally, he said, "too bad." Here's the best part. When I tried to pay, their machine was "not working" and they asked me to walk to ATM to get them cash. Then they offered "free" lemonchello shots. Wow... really!!! After waiting 25min after the horrible dinner. They finally got their CC machine to work and I paid. NEVER EAT HERE. STAY AWAY! We were hooked in by the host of the restaurant and we were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant! Location is great for people watching, great heaters in the outdoor area, FREE WIFI, very friendly waiters and waitresses, and best of all, delicious pasta! After been denied by Rocioli down the street (because we had no reservations) we stumbled upon this gem. We ordered the tomato and artichoke bruscetta, prosciutto pizza, chicken Fettuccini Alfredo, and meat lasagna. Everything was delicious, the wait staff was so kind, very child/family friendly, and just overall great experience. Out of all the places we've eaten in Rome, this was our favorite. Please save your self and don't go here, there are so many better places to eat in Rome. My husband and I decided to try Magnolias because we wanted to be near the live music in Piazza de Fiore. But I wish we had listened to our gut and gone else where! The first and only good thing that happened for our dinner is that the staff was gracious enough to add a new table on the patio for us to use, but afterwards everything else went down hill. We ordered a Bruschetta Platter which was nothing special, and really had no flavor. Then we shared the Fritto Misto de Mare, which also had no seasoning/flavor at all... so bland! Also the fried shrimp was still in the shell, with head and feet in tact. After suffering this horrible meal (and feeling sorry that we wasted an opportunity for amazing Roman food) we could not seem to find our server to pay and leave! While this is kind of common in Italy, we had to ask 3 different servers before one of them would actually help. Also the receipt noted "Tip not Included". They're lucky they got any of my money! I can not recommend this place. Overall, the service was horrible and the food was bland and totally flavorless... Do yourself a favor and please do not go! read more

First time to Rome and was wondering they Piazza Navona looking for a place to eat. This area has about 10 places to pick from, but they were one of the only ones not to pressure you to come inside to eat. Very clean place. Extremely friendly staff that spoke excellent English. The menu has lots of options and the taste and quantity fit the price point. read more

My Wife and I wandered over here while exploring the city of Rome. Honestly we picked this restaurant because they didn't hassle us to come in and it was in our price range. The food tasted fine. I ordered the carbonara and my wife ordered the pizza. For us, it was just fine. We were content with our meals and service. I don't think there was a service charge here. The same can't be said for the neighbor behind me who caused quite a ruckus about a salad. It didn't come out pre-meal and instead came out with the main course. The waiter said this was standard, unless you tell the server. Not sure if this was true, but regardless, the guest made a huge fuss and refused to pay for the salad. Make sure you communicate with the waiters, but ours was great. I felt bad that he got yelled at. It felt quite Italian to have dinner while overlooking the square. The ambiance was relaxing and fun. Bottom line: come here if you want decent food at affordable prices and a nice atmosphere. read more

Interestingly, Magnolia gets glowing reviews on Trip Advisor but pretty subpar reviews on Yelp. Glad I relied on Trip Advisor because we had an excellent meal here tonight. Admittedly, I was turned off by the hard sell of the hostess out front, including offering 2 free glasses of Prosecco. But it was 95 degrees and I was ready to sit down and cool off. My fiancé ordered the Lasagna and I had a Margarita pizza. His lasagna was amazing and my pizza was excellent. For dessert, the tiramisu was good not awesome. Really affordable, easy service and nice al fresco atmosphere on the piazza. read more

The review that states they never felt rushed to leave is very amusing. This was not our experience. One of the enjoyable things about dining in Europe, is that you can take time to enjoy your meal, and not feel as if the waitstaff can't wait to turn over your table. However, we had not yet finished our meal tonight, when a large group showed up and needed to be seated. Instead of asking them to wait a few minutes, the staff picked up our plates and asked us, in the middle of dining, to move to another table because they needed to push our table into some others to accommodate this group. We couldn't even move to the other table, because the outdoor heaters were blocking our way. I was very disappointed at this and we simply went inside and paid the bill and left. This was one of my husband's favorite places to take the family when we were in Rome, and it was our first trip back since he died. It's now been totally ruined for us. I'll never go back again, and advise you to find a place that is more hospitable. There are so very many restaurants in Rome! No need to put up with such poor service. read more

We were offered limoncello and other beverages to toast with which persuaded us to come in and try the restaurant as we were headed somewhere else. We had the bresaola parmesan, rhugetta; linguine allo scoglio pasta and the straccetti a scelta, ending with panacotta. it was great food, great service and very attentive, live music right in front of us, a wonderful experience. read more

We rented an apartment right above this restaurant and our host for the apartment suggested we eat there.... We were eager to try since she gave high reviews. I was afraid to try since there was a host in front Which is a no no for me while traveling and eating throughout Europe. Given that the host really "liked" this location we tried. The host out front was adorable and an Aussie be won me over! We sat outside and right from the start I had bad vibes... The waiters walking around were moody.... Our waiter looked Irish but not sure he was also ok... Not friendly, not happy to be there and made us feel uncomfortable. The waiters walking around didn't smile and made us feel uncomfortable as well. I would not suggest this place to anyone it was a waste of our money... This place is sufficient for a stop on my favorite piazza while touring Rome. It is nothing special, but if you are like me and crave a salad after a long stay in Italy, this is the perfect place! They have huge salads, simply put together, with good ingredients. The pizza looked good as well. This place is nothing earth shattering but has great outside seating for people watching on the piazza, and it will also be your destination for "just a salad" after too many sumptuous Italian meals and cured meats and cheeses. read more

this place was a favorite of mine while visiting rome with my friends. the servers are all young and very energetic. after spending about 8 hours here (yes, we arrived around 730 and didnt leave until almost 3am on a saturday night) we knew we had to make another visit here before leaving this beautiful city. a few of the servers remembered us and were happy to see us return. gave us great advice on our next city and made us happy to have spent a good part of our trip in a very authentic and local spot in the campo di fiori. as with all places, you never feel like you're rushed to leave, you are encouraged to flag down the server and order anything you are craving (food or beverage) and they will come back with a smile! definitely one of the highlights over all of the euro trip and i will be back here! read more

Fantastic service. The bottled water is some of the clearest tasting in the city.They give bread (which was slightly cold), oil and balsamic, as well as freshly grated Parmesan on the side as condiments. I recommend the pesto gnocchi, a nice earthy but refreshing dish that's very filling. Great portions, reasonable prices and fresh food. read more
