I finally bit the bullet and bought the fraise overalls I have been eyeing for a year now! I did the afterpay option so it wasn't so hard on the pocketbook! Ordering was fast and easy. They arrived two days later! They are amazing, a true work of art, a conversation starter, cant wait to wear to work! They are worth every penny! Adorable, soft, comfy, unique, well made, bright, cheerful, and sure to bring smiles. I am 5'3 and they just hit the ground. Yes, they are huge, as I am a size 8.... but I had a few hacks! I knotted the strapped and cut off the extra! I used big safety pins on the inside sides and tucked them in about five inches! No sewing necessary! They are actually shockingly flattering! I own four MP long sleeve tees and they're so thin that when you raise your arm up, they slide up to your shoulder. They're cute to look at but made so very very cheap. Not worth anything that they charge and I advise not to waste your time unless you try them, I mean one only at free people and call first to make sure that you can return them because MP does not allow returns. OMG. I've been wearing MP for a few years now and I decide today to go to the store in Fredericksburg. I've never been so this was my first time going. I live an hour and a half away and it was worth the drive. I was skeptical after reading other reviews and I had to see for myself if the store was really as some have said (negative reviews) and I had to see the store where I purchase my clothes I adore. I barely walked through the door and was greeted! Everyone there was smiling and very welcoming. My family was treated like family. The store is beautiful very unique. The over all feel was magical. I felt at home. What made it even more special for me was meeting John and Robin. I have meet some people in my time and never have been star struck fan girl like I was when I met them! I love them. I love their design. I love what they stand for. I purchased Robins book I am so excited to read. Reading the back had me sold on the book. I wanted to ask her to sign it but didn't want to seem TOO fan girl ish. read more

After reading a few of the negative reviews I had to come on and share our experience. My mom found Magnolia Pearl last year and could not wait to share it with us! We took a mom/ daughter trip, 10 of us total and this was one of the highlights of our Girls Weekend! While it was not our style of clothing and it was way out of my budget it was so fun walking around the store, inside and out! So many creative, weird, beautiful things to look at! As for the staff, they were the sweetest! They were super laid back. They answered all our questions. They did "follow" us upstairs but we were not offended at all. I mean honestly, what high end store doesn't keep an eye on their expensive items. They were not pushy at all. From a business owners perspective, I took it as they were watchful but polite and available. They gave us great insight to the building, the grounds and the history, it was fantastic! what a scam! bought a t shirt for $95 that has over 50 holes in it. the hem is cut up & the structure of the shirt itself is deformed with the left side seam across the front & the right side seam across my back. did i pay extra for a teenager to live in it for a month first? also bought knee socks for $110 that became shapeless & stretched out within minutes of wearing & they stay fallen down bunched up in a ball of knitted fabric around my ankles. even if the clothes were regularly priced i'd be unhappy with the quality so the fact that they're AT LEAST 3 times more expensive (with no return policy) def hurts. i now feel like it's my life's mission to warn ppl about magnolia pearl. also the whole brand feels pearly white washed & meant exclusively for white ppl to take them back to their good old plantation slave owning days. the only brown faces are pictured on t shirts but are never wearing them. def has the "get out" vibe! easy to imagine which kind of ppl love this brand.. a tell for sure. also the BS about prices reflecting sustainability--stop it. your lying. your clothes are made in india. & promoting the idea that sustainability is only possible by selling $100 t shirts & $100 socks is a filthy lie. robin is no better then a walmart ceo imo & needs diversity & ethics training! read more

Maybe the oddest store I've ever encountered. I actually thought it was an art gallery when I entered, then a museum. They do in fact sell repurposed clothing but it's a truly eclectic style that I'm unfamiliar with. The clothes are old, dusty, some dipped in paint, and resemble costumes one would wear to appear either old or homeless. It appears to be a popular, and extremely costly style in west coast boutiques but it baffles me as to why it was in this part of Texas, where the only people I've seen dressed in similar attire are not doing so by choice but necessity since it's all the clothes they own at once. It may or may not be your style, my advice is simply to look at the website before visiting to avoid the awkward and uncomfortable visit we encountered. The building is truly phenomenal and gorgeous. Stopped here on our way home to Driftwood, Tx. There was a sign as we turned in that said store is closed. It looked like some antique sign just thrown out beside the road? We didn't plan to go in just take a few pictures of the outside. The main building looked about the same as it did a couple of years back. I'd heard about Magnolia Pearl from some architectural magazine article so I rented a car from Austin hoping it would be worth the trip. There was no one there the Sunday I pulled off the highway to check it out. This review is only about the grounds and the building and its layout. I did not shop in the store. The grounds for Magnolia Pearl look as if Abercrombie & Fitch sprung up in a Cormac McCarthy novel. The salvaged barn wood, the crushed gravel in the drive aisles, and wavy window glass showed the curators of this compound had more on their minds than just merchandising shabby chic, hobo clothes. This is someone's legacy. Rugged cowboy roots lassoed by someone with impeccable style, taste and sense of proportion. The buildings and grounds are an architectural gem. We're lucky someone has preserved this collection of 18th and 19th century architectural artifacts in such a beautiful, rugged and civilized way. This shady grove, its buildings, it's buses and bikes are dreamy, inventive, romantic and sometimes comic. read more

Was a fan until #BLM and started to notice the exclusion of brown and black people used to represent the brand as I receive emails directly from the company Lindsey@magnoliapearl.com championing their inclusivity and diversity. I don't consider myself "woke" as if it's a bad thing, I am "waking up" to the injustice brown and black people face and the benefit being light skinned "white" has been for me. I looked for brown or black people on Magnolia Pearl's website and found none. On the IG page I scrolled down to Jan 2021 and saw one photo of singer Brandy. Free People website sells Magnolia Pearl brand and uses brown/black models. This is a reseller though. I think the brand should do better, this isn't representative of an "inclusive / diversity" centric brand if you ask me. I found Magnolia Pearl clothing by chance. The clothing is generous one size and one may scoff at a 100 dollar distressed t-shirt but once you try it on, they are flattering. There much to be considered when producing the simplest t-shirt. The weight, the cut, and the artist's hand in the design. I also purchased a kimono for approximately $375.00. It is distressed with patched details. It falls effortlessly and looks magnificent every time I wear it. Thus far I have one pair of trousers, one t-shirt, and a Kimono from Magnolia Pearl. I am always on the prowl for another t-shirt and if so lucky a pair of jeans. The reason why it is expensive, well think like an engineer and artist. It takes a long time to come up with a vision/design, source the right materials, and production that will suit your specifications...consistently. Think of labor too. The distressing - is labor intensive. The details in the clothing are work intensive such as appliques, embroidery, cutting the patterns, checking all fabrics have met specifications. If you want timeless clothing and you will wear forever...well Magnolia Pearl is it. ...Like a great pair of jeans. Magnolia Pearl's clothing line are limited in quantity and it is not seasonal. It is timeless. It is NOT fast fashion. It is sustainable fashion. I hope to visit Texas once and immerse myself in the world of Magnolia Pearl. I respect her as an artist. let me start by saying: i used to adore this company and have been following them for years. the styles can be very original and artistic and i felt a lot of the pieces had an important message. now let me say, some of the people that work here do not seem to actually be ethical or kind. specifically one named "tammy." i have spent thousands with this company over many years and noticed an item i bought just a couple days ago was marked $67 lower on another site. the item was not on sale, it was just marked lower. i asked if they would please honor the price since i could theoretically return the piece & repurchase it at the lower price. tammy told me that they reached out to the stores about the price being incorrect but didn't even answer my question. i asked again if she could honor the $67 dollars (which is nothing to them, you can't buy one item from them for $67) and she told me categorically no in a way that was not friendly or polite and wanted me to "rest assured" that i overpaid for it lol. she then said that "nothing ever goes on sale." this was the first time i had ever asked for what i thought was a very minor accommodation after being a loyal customer to them for years. any other company would have gladly done a one time price adjustment because making sure their stockists have the correct prices is actually their job, not that of the customers. i also worked in customer service for clothing companies and designers for 10+ years and couldn't imagine sending 3 multiple paragraph long replies to someone rather than saving a repeat customer less than 10% on a purchase and making them happy. this was a ridiculous response in my opinion. i later noticed messages from tammy that i don't think were meant to be sent to me insinuating i didn't understand price conversions since one of the shops was apparently australian, despite the fact that everything i showed them was listed in USD. long story short: this company has been ruined for me and just seems extremely hypocritical to me now. they use images of native americans and frida while being greedy, rude money grubbers. they act as if their clothing is bespoke, which could somewhat justify the price, however they outsource to indian factories. the clothing is insanely overpriced and their refusal to EVER offer sales or discounts feels so elitist like saying that people who can't pay $400 for a tee shirt are undeserving of even touching their clothing. mind you, even actual designer clothing eventually goes on sale. regarding their styles: yes, i cannot deny that they have a lot of beautiful, original looking pieces. but i've also noticed the clothing often looks really different online than in person. they definitely adjust the colors and saturation in a way that i have felt misleading and they no longer offer refunds, only store credit (which is always a huge hassle for shoppers). everything about this company gives me the ick now. i love supporting small businesses, but something has changed drastically with this company recently and i can't excuse awful customer service especially for outrageous price points. congrats, you lost someone who supported you from the start! read more

Literally the rudest place I have ever been to. We went upstairs to check out the goods aka rags and was followed by the rudest person and sales staff I have ever encountered. We were being eyed like criminals and juvenile delinquents. We were six, 59 - 79 year old women. Not rambunctious teenagers! We went outside and started "looking around" then you guessed it - here comes the watch dog sales lady. She said you can't trespass here - oh we said- she said yes there are signs. Oh we said- and looked around. Posted upside down in faded white paint was do not enter. Never mind it was facing the parking lot blocked by a car. (Not where we walked out from the store!) I seriously advise you to keep on driving by- unless you want to be treated like a piece of trash and rudely for no reason other than you "don't look like someone who has money to buy" rags for the riches price." Beautiful building with wood from Idaho and Iowa. The building looks like it's been here for a long time, but it's been remodeled in a beautiful antique way. All of this is art and it's subjective. All of the clothing, fabric and materials used are naturally occurring and developed globally, as well as vintage and antique. Once inside the look was still on my face so Tara took me upstairs to see the collections and describe the concepts. Girls, this is NOT JoJo Gaines from hGTV fame. This place is pure designer concept clothing. Tara was dressed to show the style and she looked fabulous. Many or maybe some can pull off the look.
