I had booked a spot for Corvettes on the Boardwalk in Ocean City and needed a place to crash. But where? I found Summer Nites and from the pictures it looked like a beautiful seaside mansion. Sold! We arrived on Saturday night for a two night stay. Sheila greeted us and proudly showed us her home. The theme throughout the home is the fabulous 50's. We're shown into the kitchen and it is a beautiful recreation of a 50's style diner. Each booth has a few quarters to play the authentic jukebox loaded with, yep! 50s and 60s style records. I had that bad boy crankin' the Beach Boys and Frankie Valli. There is a working Coke machine (with dimes in a can) grab yourself a bottle anytime! There are two working hot tubs on the property and the front porch has rocking chairs to sit and relax. In the garage, Sheilas husband has his 57 Chevy waiting to cruise. Sheila & Rick are car people too?? Very very cool. Each morning we were greeted with an amazing breakfast. To start, a large fruit cup and freshly baked muffins were waiting for us. I poured myself a coffee as I was served a delicious homemade waffle and sausage. This has to be the best Bed & Breakfast I ever stayed at. Our room was the Marilyn Monroe room. Lots of Pink! When I walked into the room, I didn't know what to expect. My wife filled up the Jacuzzi and used the bath bomb in the water. After a 10 minute soak, I can understand why JFK kept Marilyn as his side piece. We checked out on Monday, we were the only guests in the B&B. Sheila sat with us and we talked about the future events at Summer Nites. Sheila, I can honestly say we had a great time and cannot wait to return next year.

It has a nice clean outdoor pool that is well-maintained and provides clean towels and lounge chairs. Our room for a family of five was just right with two queen beds and a pullout couch/bed in the living room. Our room also had many of the towels folded into adorable flowers and a great view of the beach/shore. Parking is available right around the building as well as on the street, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. One night, there was a very heavy rain storm. Since our back door was facing the beach, some water crept in through the bottom of the door. We were able to stop the leak with towels and called housekeeping who provided a door guard that soaks up water in case it happened again. For the price we paid, we would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others as well.

We opted for the suite which was a nice size and clean. It had an AC unit in both rooms so with the 2 on full blast you could keep meat in the place. That's all I needed. I booked way back in Jan, so it would of been nice to not have the 1 suite situated in front of the stairs which meant an obstructed view & no outdoor chairs, a drop annoying but def not the end of the world. The owners and staff were extremely friendly and took pride in the place. There was never a time the owner wasn't sweeping or rinsing down something or throwing out the trash. You could tell he really cared about their place, which is always a good thing. The cleaning person was also super attentive. We declined daily house keeping as w 2 little kids, the room was a warzone, but she still made sure we had fresh towels and toiletries. She even noticed after my swim with my daughter that we only had 1 towel and came over to offer another 1. Talk about attention to detail and situational awareness. I was super impressed. The pool was a nice size and kept immaculate. They had a lovely area to eat and bbq if you wanted. They also had a second area to eat that was shaded but also next to the smoking section so we opted to eat in the sun and fresh air every time. We were super happy w the place and will def be back. There were no negatives. As the owners work super hard and want everyone to have the best experience possible, my only suggestions would be to add extra hooks in the bathrooms for wet clothes, maybe some shelving as the sinks have no counter space and perhaps demo the step or paint it yellow that the surf shower sits on as I watched numerous people trip on it while there. The location is ideal, SO close to the beach, bars, and the main walking area. I got my fudge, my beer, sand, and sunset photos all in one walk around town! The room was very clean and comfortable. They probably work very hard to keep the sand out of the rugs! We tend to notice things like that A window A/C unit did plenty to cool off the room and dry out the humidity. In the winter a fireplace can be used. The bed was super comfortable and really big. The water pressure in the shower was very strong and everything that a regular hotel supplies was there for us. Soap/shower cap/etc were provided. Overall the room was very very comfortable. We loved The John Wesley Inn and will definitely be back!

It can be tricky finding a B&B that allows only a 2-night stay (typically the minimum is 3-night stay) but we lucked out that we found a 2-night stay space between to other vacationers' plans. So this review does not get SUPER long, I am basically going to do a Pro/Con list. Pros: -Fabulous owners; emailed us back promptly including follow-up emails with questions -Very comfortable room; we stayed in Room #3 The Marquis de Lafayette. Nice size bathroom with a stand-up shower and good water pressure. Probably more fun in the winter with the gas fireplace, but the air-conditioner cooled the room perfectly. It is the first room up the flight of stairs but we were never bothered by outside noise. -Delicious breakfast! You eat with other renters of the B&B so it makes for interesting conversation. I've been to other B&Bs where you can sit separately. We enjoyed waffle breakfast day #1 and French toast on day #2. -Tons of extra amenities; very comfortable outside shower for a long and sandy beach day. Had towels and shampoo/conditioner if needed at the outside shower. There were also extra beach chairs, coolers, boogie boards, and beach towels all provided which was perfect and very helpful for us. -Off-street parking included! The can accommodate any car including SUVs except pick-up trucks. One car per family/room and the owners prefer to park the car. If you have an additional vehicle there is free street parking only 2 blocks away. -Location, Location!! Easy walk to everything you need - food, alcohol, sweet treats, beach, and people watching Cons: There were really no big horrifying cons during our stay at John Wesley Inn; only things that make me look like a nit-picky person. The only upgrade I would have preferred is a personal refrigerator in the room. Possibly other rooms had one but Room #3 did not. I did email to check about the fridge situation and I did get a prompt response. There is a communal fridge available on the third floor, which is basically a lounge area. However that area is 'closed' during the night so you might not be able to retrieve items during the late night ours. And the fridge was a small fridge, such as a fridge that should be located in the room. Why is this a big deal for me? Because we did bring a good amount of perishable food that we were hoping to take on the beach with us during the day (fruit, guac, salsa). Unfortunately we had to toss some of the food because there was not enough room for all of it in the small fridge, but oh well; this problem is not big enough for me to take away a star. I can just buy that stuff day of when I vacation there again. Word to the wise: you are suppose to sign up for your breakfast time each day. I have only been to a few B&Bs so I am not sure if this is a normal thing you are suppose to do. I was either misinformed or misunderstood when I was asked what breakfast time slot we wanted the day we checked-in. I thought the time I picked was for our whole vacation, but apparently we were suppose to sign up everyday. We showed up day #2 at the same time and they were not expecting us. They did not make us feel bad about it, but our food came out a smidge later than the other renters.
