I have been seen here for OB/GYN and general health care. I have to say this has been disappointing and invalidating. Not only was I medically gaslight, I was also misdiagnosed and mistreated. So many medical bills for poor testing, abismal bedside manner, misdiagnosing, and not even getting comprehensive treatment. I have PCOS and endometriosis. Nobody here knows current research on these topics. Even more disturbing, they are not receptive to reading the recent peer-reviewed research. As this is a teaching facility, I find that greatly concerning. I have been bounced around with various doctors here. Each telling me to "wait and see" on symptom development rather than actually treating me. I had surgery for endometriosis and ended up with sciatica after. I went to the office to ask for help with that since I could barely stand or get out of bed most mornings. The doctor told me to stretch and take pain meds. No follow up. I mentioned I've been having intense allergic reactions with hives and swelling. They didn't even want to do testing or prescribe medication. Instead they told me to journal my symptoms. Then when I told them I did already, they wouldn't even read what I had documented. read more

Incompetent. Every referral was like pulling teeth. Wrong diagnostic codes, wrong fax number, requests for more detailed information or for paperwork correction were met with gaslighting and dismissal. Somehow my doctor thinks that more visits should equal better care, as though my chronic illness is going to change from this month to the next. None of it makes sense, I just need help and I've had to drive every aspect of my care forward in the face of severe resistance. I was hesitant to start this process again because of the potential for it to result in an enormous waste of my time with absolutely no care or treatment or diagnosis (again) and after 3 months of quite literally no progress whatsoever, my worst fears have been realized. Internal Medicine nurses are awful who run the roost and that's exactly how they do it like bullies and they lie on patients charts to gain the upper hand on them. They run interference between patients and their doctors and they seem to not fear any consequences whatsoever about the lack of professionalism that they handle patients with on a daily. Unfortunately for me personally this has resulted in real harm physically and emotionally I have been traumatized by the nursing staff and nurse practitioner as well who knew less about the medication side affects she pushed on me than me telling her and simply googling it on the internet. read more

Had my Covid test through their Acute Care Clinic. It was fast, professional and all safety precautions were taken very seriously by the staff. Definitely recommend them to anyone. You just pull up in your car and wait. read more

Horrible experience the nurses don't call you back and they get very rude if you complain nothing improves Even Dr Kubiac ( Director of Internal Medical) was very rude the medical assistant got a small amount of blood and I take 6 different medications and never told me if they had enough blood to check for thyroid, anemia, diabetes, cholesterol and liver levels! I walked out with 2 very sore arms because they have very little experience!!! Don't go there!!!! read more

In my opinion, this is a fantastic facility. The entire staff is friendly and professional. My doctor, Dr. Curreio (sorry, spelling? Tried to google correct spelling of his name and didn't find it), is fantastic- friendly, compassionate, really CARES, young and super smart. Awesome community resource. read more

I saw Dr. Fan as a new patient follow up from the ER for 2 ovarian cysts. Believing that I was perimenopausal, and having all the symptoms she would not be open to hormone panel testing or HRT because I was still having cycles. Meanwhile I was having symptoms that interfered with my daily life. I do not recommend her as she is not thorough willing to do further testing tells me she is not competent. read more

Most of the medical specialists there are interns, students or PAs. I've been to both the general practitioner and gynecologist there and do not feel as if my needs were met. Most of them do not have enough experience to properly diagnose, in my opinion, and are inconsistent. Would not recommend. read more

I got pregnant last year and it was a traumatizing experience all because the doctors at MAHEC and mission hospital would not listen to me. I was leaking amniotic fluids and they wouldn't do test or anything and just tell me I wasn't I even went to mission hospital and they'd say the same thing but I went swimming and me and the baby both got a infection and plus they went with putting off inducing me for so long that my son swallowed his own poop in the womb. Then when I gave birth mission hospital was just as bad I do NOT recommend either one read more

Dr. Aimee Feste is the best of the BEST! She is caring and extremely sweet! She listens very carefully to what you have to say. She takes time explaining... Doesn't rush to send you home! She just really cares for her patients! And she respects other choices and opinions! Absolutely loved having her as my doctor, and do recommend her to others a million times! read more

Halfway through pregnancy i gave up on mahec after giving them way too many chances. Never met with the same doctor more than once. The second doctor i saw tried to pressure me into taking their centering classes by saying i should be openminded instead of respecting my decision, and also saying that their was no other prenatal classes available in asheville which was a blatant lie. One appointment they had my labs all messed up and tried to take samples that werent needed for another 8 weeks. The third doctor i saw lacked basic medical knowledge saying that leg cramps just happen and they dont know why so i shouldnt worry about taking supplements or changing my diet, which is incorrect and many reputable resources will confirm this is associated with calcium inbalance. Finally she chased me out to the lobby after we were done and i was checking out to put me on the spot in front of a bunch of people and started discussing my personal health information for all to hear. Rude and careless doctors, long waits for appointments and on the phone, unprofessional and made me feel uncomfortable too many times. I would not recomend this facility to any expecting mother. read more
