Doctor Mahfoud has been our 2 boys doctor since they were born. Now teenagers- we go in annually for physicals unless something comes up. The doctor has always been great. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We've always been able to quickly make appointments easily when we contact the office. Glendora Pediatrics is located on the second floor. The parking here can be tight if your looking for a close spot. The building is older. There is a pharmacy and 2 labs here. Quest diagnostics and Labcorp. We've recommended Dr. Mahfoud to friends and they have also been happy with him and his office. read more

My children have been coming here since infancy. They are now in their teens. The doctors bedside manner is gentle and supportive. He does not raise alarm and is calming. Overview: Dr. Mahfoud is OK. He's not super personable or kid friendly. I mainly went for annual check-ups. The office decor is dated. There's a cute mural in the waiting room but it feels out of place for the rest of the space. The exam tables are really old wood tables & the gear seems like it's seen better days. There is no after-hours help or even help during office hours days the doctor is not in the office. My kids are rarely ill & I mainly went for kids well-check appointments & vaccines. The front desk staff is fantastic. Their main receptionist is always pleasant & helpful. There were 2 great nurse practitioners, one I believe was NP Stacey. She was fantastic. There was a 3rd NP for a very short time. She wouldn't use the correct term for a male's anatomy. We believe it's better to use the correct medical terms for our bodies rather than nicknames. It was weird that a medical professional was uncomfortable with that word [edited for content] Downside: They have no after hours contact number or doctor on call. My prior & current pediatrician have after hours numbers. We've had great experience with after hours calls and resolved problems without unnecessary trips to the Urgent Care/ER. My main complaint is that Dr. Mahfoud has no after hours help-line. Their only recommendation is to go to Urgent Care or ER. I just need to know if my kid is sick enough for a trip to the UC/ER or if there's something I could just do at home. When my daughter got Covid, I called on a Friday late morning, before lunch, during business hours. Dr. Mahfoud was not in the office & they told me he would not be available until Monday. I was inconsolable. Thankfully I had some nurse friends & a Google medical degree so I cautiously watched her day by day. I wanted to avoid UC/ER to avoid her exposure to others & to avoid exposing all of us to other sick people. As far as regular medical attention, he was OK. He made sure the kids were current on vaccines. One kid has been constantly underweight & it always worried me. He didn't address those issues. Nurse Stacey identified a possible problem and recommended specialists. I'm grateful for her advice. Nurse Stacey also noted possible issues with kid #2 that we've been monitoring & have resolved. But that's 5-stars for NP Stacey, not Dr. Mahfoud. He did handle one medical issue that we had to come in for. It wasn't serious. I believe he got us in in a reasonable amount of time. It's the lack of after hours help or help when he's not in the office that is a problem. read more

We'd recently relocated to the SGV and switched insurance coverages as well - so I needed to find a new pediatrician for our toddler daughter. Previously we'd had Kaiser and I was not impressed with their level of attention and medical care - I thought they had a terrible pediatric department! Luckily another SGV mom recommend Dr. Mahfoud. Dr. Mahfoud is a great doctor and his staff is friendly. He took his time to listen and he encouraged as many questions as he could get out me. The office, like the building, is old school but its large & nicely decorated - murals of nursery rhymes cover the walls and there are seperate waiting roms for sick and well patients. When my daughter had a 5 day fever he was very attentive - bringing her back for a follow up, and sending her out for a chest xray and urine labs @ Foothill Pres Hospital right next door. His staff called the same day to give me the results! WTH? Shocking! I'm glad to have met Dr. Mahfoud - I highly recommend him - I feel like this doctor treats me as a partner in my daughters care - not just the person paying the bills. read more

WORST Immigration doctor EVER!!!!! I can only use the word IGNORANCE to describe him. I find him to help me fill out the immigration documents, waste me a few weeks time to get all the paperworks from health department and then told me he cannot do it. Then I go to another doctor ( i call two other doctors) both said the things he asked me to do is unnecessary. I told him the very first day at his clinic that I had syphilis and even I got treated, my blood test will always show as positive. He said its ok he will explain to USCIS. Fine then i trust him. So after the blood test result came out, he ask me to go to health center to get proof of treatment, i said i have medical record from health center but he said he wont accept it and i need to go get letter. The things he want from the letter actually is stated on my medical document. Fine i already wasted 15 days so i guess i will go get it even the health center said it is unnecessary and the medical record should show the proof. The doctor is stupid so what u want me to do??? Now I got the letter saying that i already got treated in 2017 and my RPR before treatment was 1:16. Then the most ridiculous thing happen the day after, the nurse called and asked me to go get treatment because my blood test result is positive!!!!!! I explain to him that according to CDC website , the patient with syphilis will always got tested positive for a life time even after successful treatment. THE nurse argued with me that NO! she said after treatment i m supposed to be NEGATIVE!!!! its like arguing with me that HIV is treatable when i have show them every proof that it is not. She said according to the doctor. If your doctor is educated about syphilis, he wont request me to go a letter when my medical record has explained everything and ask me get treatment when my RPR titer is dropping year after year. I showed him a blood test with health department in 2018 and the health department isnaware that it is positive but they dont ask me to go get treatment. Even i get treated 10000 times my blood test result for syphilis will always show as positive. Then the nurse asked me go to health center again to get a proof stating that syphilis test result will always be positive for lifetime!!! This is ridiculous!!! its all on CDC website. You are asking me to go to health center asking them to educate you about the nature of syphilis when you are a immigration doctor??? You need to quit being a immigrarion doctor or go back to medical school to learn all the basics. thats crazy, i had never seen such an igorant doctor in my life. At that time i just feel like he is wasting my time and i just need to go find a doctor who knows what he is doing. He need to be disqualified as an immigration doctor because he doesnt even educated about one of the things that is part of immigration requirement. i said i dont need his refund of $150 but will do everything i can to get him disqualified so he cannot let his ignorance ruin other people's live and waste other people's time anymore. read more

Dr. Mahfoud is a good doctor. He has a great office staff, the exam rooms are spotless. Appointments are easy as are emergency appointments. Dr Mahfoud was there for the delivery of our son at Foothill Pres, since mother was considered high risk, something we really appreciated. We switched pediatricians, around 18 months we did not see eye to eye with Dr. Mahfoud. When we had complaints of colic we seemed to be treated as we were making a mountain out of a mole hill. There were multiple concerns that fell upon deaf ears and at times felt dismissive. They were attributed to us, per Dr Mahfoud, as being anxious parents. This was not our first child. I am an ER nurse and have worked pediatrics over the last 20 years. Mom is a physical therapist who works with brain injuries. We pointed several things out things such as no eye contact, he did not seem to recognize voices, the constant crying, not liking being touched, would not lie on his back, hand flapping, constant arching of the back, constant flicking of the tongue, chronic vomiting, constipation, and other things that just weren't right. We were told that this was attributed repeatedly to us being anxious and "if any of this was true he would have not gained weight and died". Tensions simply just rose between us so we changed pediatricians. It turned out that our child is Autistic and very delayed, we are glad we switched although the new pediatrician could not figure it out either, she did not dismiss us and instead referred us to Regional Center who figured it out. And I am so glad we did, as our son has hugely benefitted from the proper referral and thriving. The change was warranted just simply because the communication between us and Dr. Mahfoud was ineffective. I have a tremendous amount of respect both for Dr. Mahfoud and Dr. Fermin, and would not hesitate to allow them to care for our son if he was ever hospitalized, as I have worked with them over the years, he has done great by many, and I have never observed him talking to parents as he did us. I would still recommend them as they are the best pediatricians I have worked with. Thank you. read more

He was there for all of them from birth on till when we couldn't see him anymore! The staff is hands down the best office staff I've ever come into contact with! DO NOT GO TO THIS PEDIATRICIAN!! Both of my kids have had this dr. since birth. They are now 7 and 4. Last week I had a really bad interaction with Dr. Mahfoud. I took my daughter in for a vaginal infection. He also noticed that I am having a skin infection on her legs and "private area" treated by a dermatologist. When I went to him first (about a year ago) regarding this skin virus he told me not to do anything and it will eventually go away. After a few months of doing nothing her virus was spreading all over her body and they (small red bumps) were very itchy. I finally took it upon myself to take her to a dermatologist and we have been getting them treated. Very easy treatment and not painful, which he told me all treatments for this were. The day I took her in he had an intern with him. After examining my daughter and ending the appointment he turned to his intern and started to explain to her about my daughters skin virus and said "as you can see, she had them treated. She should have left it alone but its the mothers choice." I was really offended by this and turned to him and said "just so you know the bumps have tripled in 4 days. I can't just let them do that. Yes, of course I am having them treated." He then chuckled, smiled at me, turned back to the intern and said "like I said, she should have left them untreated but again, its the mothers choice" I was pissed! How dare he question my parenting and right in front of me??? He should have at least waited until I was out of the room to speak badly of my decisions. I was shocked. So when I got home I called the office manager and discussed with her what just had happened. She said she would take down the message and pass it on to him. So over the weekend we received a letter of him apologizing for the situation which I really appreciated. However, at the bottom of the letter he said that he was "sorry that our doctor/patient relationship would end this way." I just called them and spoke to the manager and told her I never said I didn't want him as our pediatrician again. And she said that he decided to not be our doctor anymore. WHAT???? Again, I was in total shock! I said to her "so, he insulted me and because I complained about it he doesn't want to treat my kids anymore? And you are telling me that my daughter, who has only known him since birth has to go to another dr., especially now with this vaginal infection? A total embarrassing and private issue???" She said without any compassion "I guess so". My poor kids. I can't believe I have put my trust and my kids health in this man's hands. Shame on me. So I just want to warn any of you thinking about going to him. Just know the minute you go against what he tells you and you follow your instincts he is going to let you know how you failed as a parent. Oh, and you better not complain about anything or you will be "kicked out". Unprofessional and ridiculous. read more

We needed to find a new Pediatrician, closer to our current home. Based on previous reviews, I thought Dr. Mahfoud would be a great choice. Scheduled a "new patient" appointment, however my son got sick before the appointment date. I called and asked if they could see him sooner because my sons symptoms were the same as when he previously had pneumonia. The kind & professional nurse said they were very busy but they'd work him in. I was grateful. Unfortunately my sons appointment with Dr. Mahfoud was not a good experience. He entered the room and only acknowledged and spoke to my son. After trying to get his attention he finally looked at me with an unmistakable smirk. I was shocked. It didn't get any better. During the entire appointment his tone was condescending, and he was visibly irritated. I can only assume he was acting this way because, as he said "it's just a cold". And perhaps he was annoyed that they worked my son in, for just a cold. I explained that my son has had pneumonia 3 times and I just wanted to have him checked out since catching pneumonia early is important. It still felt as though he viewed me as an over protective or pushy parent. To my regret (now), I remained calm and polite during the appointment, because my son was present. However now, I wish I had confronted him about his rude and unprofessional behavior... as in retrospect, I think my son may have learned something from it. I'm writing this review because I feel parents should know that this doctor sometimes acts rude and condescending. Perhaps he has bad days now and then, I get that. But we all do. And when you're dealing with patients and their parents, there's just no excuse. read more

I have a 2 year old and 4 year old and Dr. Mahfoud has been their pediatrician since birth. I cannot say enough wonderful things about him and his entire staff - nurses and office staff. We never waited more than 10 minutes in the waiting room (average was under 5 minutes) and everyone was always incredibly friendly and warm. Dr. Mahfoud was always calm and patient. I never felt rushed and I felt that he listened to any concerns I had and provided necessary attention. My children are very shy and clingy, and sometimes office visits were hectic for me when I had a screaming baby, but Dr. Mahfoud's calm presence always calmed my own nerves, and my child's. We are moving out of state and I am SO sad to have to find a new pediatrician for my kids. read more

Dr. Mahfoud is a fantastic pediatrician! Kind, thorough, interacts wonderfully with my three little boys. He never makes you feel rushed when asking questions and shows genuine care and concern for his patients. My family had the opportunity to switch to Kaiser ins, which would have saved us a ton of money, but I wasn't willing to give up having Dr. Mahfoud as my sons' pediatrician. The office staff is great at accommodating the need for same day appointments and I love that there are two waiting rooms, one for sick children and one for kids on their well visits. I first met Dr. Mahfoud in the hospital when I was about to give birth to my first daughter. I had preeclampsia and he was there waiting for my her to arrive as I was pushing her out. As soon as she was born he took her and examined her, a few hours later he came into the room and updated us on our daughters condition. He seemed concerned yet very professional. That was 13 years ago and now he takes care of all 4 of my kids. He was there to see them all as they were newborns in the hospital. He's a great Dr. and truly cares about his patients and best of all my kids love him!!! His staff is also very nice and can always squeeze you in if your kids are sick.
