He sat me in the chair, filled my mouth with instruments, where I was unable to speak,and proceeded to fill the tooth next to that one. He never asked if I wanted to fill that tooth. When he finished, he said he was sorry and I thought I was finished. As I attempted to leave, I was stopped by the receptionist and told I owed another $195 for another filling. I do not feel I was treated fairly, and no one asked my permission. All said, in 2 weeks time, I have spent $1350 there for cleaning and 2 fillings. I told them I felt that they were taking advantage of me, but they were not willing to budge. I will definitely find another dentist.

The receptionist wouldn't even ask the doctor if she would make an exception. Nobody should use this location. Go somewhere they care about you being a person. This location is the first location Aspen Dental location that required a new patient exam for a denture repair. I stand by my review and that the "need" for an exam is only to inflate patient cost, and look for more services to charge for rather than performing the service needed. IMAGINE going to a doctor for the flu and being told you need to have your annual check up first come back in three days when we have time for that and then we can see about solving the flu issue. They did the exam and x-rays -- no cavities or any other issues, hooray! But they withheld the cleaning (which I thought was included in the new patient special). To be fair, I was wrong about this; it's not included. They then performed a "gum pocket measurement" test. OK, fine. I've had those tests done before. It's when they call out the numbers (1-6). I had mostly 2s and 3s and a handful of 1s and 4s. About the same as far as I can remember from all the other times in the past I've had the test done. In other words, nothing of note. But here's where it gets interesting. They used that test to claim that what I really required was a deep cleaning (called "scaling and root planing") -- not a normal, routine cleaning. They then refused to perform a routine cleaning, even though I asked for one and offered to pay more. They told me my only option was the expensive treatment plan, which of course, cost over $2,000. It was for my own safety and wellbeing, you see. They couldn't in good conscience perform the routine cleaning. In my book, this whole thing was a classic bait and switch, and crosses the line into unethical and deceptive business practices. I've had plenty of dental offices try to upsell me on the "deep cleaning" over the years. I always just say "no thanks", and that's that. I've never had one literally refuse service unless I agreed to their upsell. Just blows my mind. End. p.s. I'm considering whether or not I should file a complaint with the state dental board -- they regulate unethical conduct. Or I could file a complaint with the AG's consumer protection office -- deceptive advertising is a big deal to them. We'll see.
