This place is amazing. I'm always hesitant on trying new places but I always heard good things about this place. First off this place is so clean and the owners (Joanne and James) are so sweet. I called in (5/16/246) at 5 pm to see if they had an availability. They squeezed me in at 6 and I left at 7:30. Joanne, who did my nails, made it amazingly. She wanted the nails to be perfect. She believes it's not her best work but I am in love with them. It's a little pricey but it's worth it. Between the nails, the care, the environment, and everything. It was perfect. I recommend everyone coming here

Very clean, organized place. Polite and pleasant atmosphere. I've attached my nails done by Joanne; I'm very happy with the results. I was only taken aback by the price of the uv gel set ($120), which had been cheaper at my old salon, but other than that, this is my new favorite nail salon.

    Bad gel mani

In town for the weekend and needed a gel mani. Seemed to go ok at first then the tech was switched. The guy working there did my gels and he made my nails lumpy and didn't even cover the bad color with the metallic powder to complete the look. I complained and he tried to fix it but it didn't work. Color was chipping by the next day as well as the pink under color was still coming through. 4 days later and the gel looks like a child did it. I paid a fortune for crap and now will have to pay again to get them redone. Do not go here. The referral person promised it would be great and it wasn't.

I have been to this salon many times because of the great pedicures. I hadn't been in awhile and I stopped in today for a regular mani/ pedi and Gina did a fantastic job. The woman who did my pedicure was also amazing and she moisturized my feet and legs with hot oil. My only issue is with the prices. Although the prices are average for the Mahwah/ Suffern area, they are more expensive than any other cities in in Rockland County for the same or similar service. BUT they do give out gifts for the holidays and are on target for the location they are in ‍.

This is AFTER a manicure - botched cuticles, terrible polish job, unevenly filed nails.

I should have scrolled down farther on reviews before coming here. I was looking for a place to get a quick manicure during my lunch break - my usual place in Mahwah can sometimes take a bit, and today I was on a pretty tight schedule, so I decided to check out Mahwah Nails. Big mistake. I was seated right away, but everything felt rushed - despite the fact that I was there for 45 minutes for a regular manicure. The reviews that state that the workers seem friendlier to the "regulars" is absolutely correct - it was very clear by the level of service who had been there before and who was new[er]. I should have known this would be a shitty manicure because it was $10 - with certain things, you can gauge a lot by the price. My nails are unevenly filed, my cuticles were butchered (I also was not asked if I wanted them cut or not, the man who gave me my manicure just started in), and the polish job looks like I did it at home while blindfolded. I paid cash, as they have a sign that they will not accept credit cards for purchases under $20. I had to ask for change, and the woman brought me two $5's, so I gave a 50% tip prior to even getting my nails painted, assuming that would potentially encourage better service than I received thus far. Wrong. I will be going home and redoing my nails myself, and will never be returning to Mahwah Nails. My nails have never looked worse.

    GelX nails

I recommend Mahwah nails to EVERYONE!! Joanne and James are the sweetest and are so accommodating. It is clean and organized. Joanne is the best at design and never fails to make my gelx nails look just like the pictures I show for reference. Best nail salon I've ever gone to, hands down!!

Classical music plays in the background of this light and airy nail salon. The floors are well-maintained and clean. Although there aren't many chairs for manis and pedis (8 in total), I don't mind waiting for what seems to be individual and personal service. It smells good in here, too. One lady is getting a neck massage with her manicure. Oh my! I wished I lived in the area or state. When I entered, I was asked immediately about how I could be helped. I was told there would be a 15 minute wait for my manicure. My nails are in dastardly shape after acrylic and gel manicures. So I'm opting for a regular manicure today. All I can say is marvelous darling. Such care and attention given to my pitiful cuticles. And for only 10 dollars you get a manicure and a neck and back massage. They better staphhhh!!!! Definitely recommend.

I am the new customer, called at 11:30 to get an apt at 12 with no problem. The staffs are very nice ! Jessie did my gel mani and Sarah did my feet! $45 !! You can beat that!! I didn't feel rush at all ,they took they time and did a great job. At the end Jessie gave me a goodie bag with a lotion and 2 of the $5 gift certificates (for the new year I think) It was an amazing experience and very impressive with the gifts!!! Definitely going back!!!!!

Welcome to an awful 1980s manicure

I should have listened to the previous reviews and stayed clear of this place. I specifically asked them Not to file down my nails too much, since I'm getting married (and spent six months growing out the blasted things). Lo and behold, they're practically down to the quick. When I brought it to the manicurists attention, she insisted that I had asked for her to file them down that low and make them "square round". Customer Service 101 dictates that's the wrong answer, especially since I was visibly upset by this new look! Maybe I'm an over stressed bride, but I'm very proud of how long my nails had become and broke myself out of a nasty nail biting habit to get there. Nope, doesn't matter, they're gone. I just wanted to get out of there at that point, but upon careful inspection, my manicure took a detour to the 1980s and are now a flat topped, CROOKED square. My toes at least match in their jagged, stubby appearance. When I have enough of my nails back to actually have a proper manicure, I'll never go back to this place.

Enjoyed my experience but my gel manicure didn't even last a full week. Very disappointing.

Since then, it's been nothing but positive and I would definitely recommend trying them out.

Following my initial experience with laser at this location, I highly encourage others to look…read moreelsewhere for ANY service. In short summary, they destroyed my skin, took my money, called me names, and shouted aggressively on the phone with me about it. At first it was a casual flavor in their interactions that borders inappropriate lack of professionalism. However this is a trend throughout the salon. Rude, harsh, unprofessional all throughout. Of course, however the incompetence and apparent lack of skill is what did it for me. Upon my initial visit they had my name wrong, after follow up the woman asked if I had a different name because my file was "under a different name." She never adjusted my name, odd but whatever, I'll swallow it. Towards the start of my first apt, the tech doing my laser told me she's actually moving and is not sure if the location (at which I just purchased thousands of dollars worth of laser) will have a replacement. She assured me she was leaving in two years. Shortly after she requested I not share with owners and her boss that she actually already purchased a home where she's moving and may be moving sooner...okay I'll swallow it because at this point I'm laying on this bed in the middle of my laser apt. and so anything in that moment. She showed me tons of pictures of her new home. Shortly after she started a portion of my laser she stopped frantically and said "Oh wait!! I hope you're not on antibiotics or have been within two weeks." Apparently it could be dangerous. I told her I took it three weeks ago and she paused and said "ehh I'm sure it'll be fine." She was an older woman who was squinting while doing my laser. She came to a line and skipped it by accidentally so I pointed it out, but she refused to believe that she skipped anything and said she always marks her spot so that's impossible. Again, nothing I could do. Following the appointment I had several burns on my leg which I wasn't too concerned about at first. When I told her about the burns she said "I used the right temp so I'm not sure what happened." However up to a month later I continued to have irritated, peeling, burned skin. After the month of poor skin reaction, I reached out in hopes of having the remaining balance I didn't use yet refunded. It was not a good fit for me. Wow! What an experience I had with their manager. They wanted to give me the thousands of dollars remaining back form of in merchandise credit, but why would I want to go back there? Too long to write but she called me rude and combative. She was yelling so intensely that she did not let me complete one sentence. She said they would return a portion of the remaining balance and I'm lucky because their "lawyer said I deserve nothing." When I asked how they arrived at the number they did she said I'm combative and yelled aggressively on the phone. She just kept yelling "take it or leave it !" On the phone. Ultimately she said take it or leave it and hung up the phone in my face and I couldn't reach her again. Still have no idea how they arrived at the number they did. Shocked the owner didn't have enough professional sense to call me herself. Interestingly enough the manager told me they have to keep an extra portion of my balance including the electric bill and the laser techs time...if that is not usually factored into the initial price you charge people, then I don't blame the employees (who are apparently not paid for their time and have to worry about covering the electric bill?) for their rude unprofessionalism. Sounds like a more fundamental issue in the higher ups.
