On September 23, 2025, I shipped a small package intended for pickup by the recipient in Grand Forks, North Dakota, due to personal reasons. I specifically asked the associate assisting me, Noel, whether I should use the recipient's home address or the address of the UPS store in North Dakota. I emphasized multiple times that the package was not to be delivered, but rather held for pick up. Noel advised me to use the address of the store where the package would be picked up. However, the recipient was later informed that the packaged had been sent to the wrong address and was being returned to the sender. As of October 8, 2025, the packaged has been returned to me thankfully it was not lost. Unfortunately, I have to pay for sending it out for the second time. My concern lies in the fact that I was given incorrect information by the associate. If Noel was unsure of the correct procedure, it would have been more appropriate to seek clarification or escalate the matter, rather than proceed with inaccurate guidance. While I understand that new employees may still be learning, providing incorrect information can lead to significant inconvenience for customers. Given the circumstances and the avoidable nature of this error, I believe it would be reasonable for the store to take responsibility for the resulting inconvenience - including reimbursement of shipping costs or other appropriate resolution. I hope this matter can be reviewed and used as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of accurate communication and customer service training.
