I wasn't happy that I was overcharged for co-pay and they "forgot" the amount of cash I paid and "forgot" to give me the correct change. It feels strange to review a blood donation center but I'm surprised by this location's low overall…read morerating considering each donation experience that I've had here has been pleasant. The first time I ever donated blood was at this location. Note, I've only donated whole blood. I didn't properly plan my eating/hydration in the hours / days before so it didn't go that well but that is on me. I got super queasy during the donation so they had to raise my feet, and bring over some ice packs to put on me. Also my hands cramped up like crazy so they gave me some tums to chew - that was calcium related they said. They were very quick to provide attention as soon as I indicated that I wasn't feeling well. Thankfully the hand cramping has never happened again but the queasy part has happened a couple more times, although not at this location (but again that is on me & my poor planning). The procedure here is as follows: check in at the front desk, complete the questionnaire process on the computer, get your iron/temp check, donate, then recover. I think the least pleasant part for me is the iron finger prick check. In two of my blood donations, I've had to have a finger pricked on each hand because my iron wasn't high enough. Thankfully only one time was I turned away since the second hand was also low. I've learned to take iron supplements in the days leading up to (and following) my blood donation. NYBC is always giving away fun swag / perks for donation. Most recently I donated to get the Abbott / Big 10 t-shirt (through online submission). They also gave me an unrelated long sleeve blood donor shirt and had blood droplet lapel pins at the front desk. The snacks and drinks are always plentiful, and don't forget to get your blood donor sticker (just as pivotal as an I voted sticker if you ask me) - my fav sticker is the one that says "Be nice to me, I gave blood today." Counting down the days until I'm eligible to donate again.

Very disappointing experience, especially after initially having a positive experience with this…read moreclinic. I had an embolization procedure on my knee here, and for the first two weeks I felt significantly better. The swelling went down and the pain improved tremendously. Unfortunately, the pain has now returned almost exactly as it was before the procedure. I came back to the clinic because I was concerned and expected the doctor who performed the procedure to evaluate the situation and provide some type of plan. An ultrasound showed a significant amount of fluid around my leg, yet I was basically told, "I don't know what else to do," and advised to see my orthopedic doctor. The only treatment suggested was ibuprofen. I explained that I am experiencing significant pain with basic activities such as walking up and down stairs, sitting, and putting on my shoes. I work long hours on my feet, so this is affecting my ability to function normally. What is most frustrating is that after receiving good care initially, I expected proper follow-up when the problem returned. Instead, I left feeling dismissed and without a clear explanation, treatment plan, or meaningful follow-up. A medical procedure should come with appropriate follow-up care, especially when the patient returns with significant symptoms. Unfortunately, I did not feel that I received that level of care today. I hope the clinic takes this feedback seriously, because patients deserve to feel heard, evaluated, and properly cared for after a procedure.

I've donated blood here twice. Most recently, I thought some of the nurses (both during the…read morescreening and during the blood draw) were a bit unfriendly. But ultimately, the facility is clean and the nurses do their jobs. It's certainly bigger than either of the locations in Midtown, although the building seems older.
