My first review was written over 10 years ago. In TEN YEARS NOTHING HAS IMPROVED I was brought here…read moreby ambulance again in November 2024 and They put me in the middle of the emergency room on a stretcher with NO curtain and they pushed me around and banged into me the entire time I was there., It took them FORTY ONE HOURS TO ADMIT ME over a day and a half waiting on a stretcher with an IV Line AND a CATHETER and these people just let me lay there. I was only moved upstairs after I complained loudly to the 'administrator" who was extremely BLIND to what is going on in this ER SHe was BUSY SHowing what looked like INVESTORS around the place looking for donations rather than CARING ABOUT THE PATIENTS While I waited in eternity another man who was there at least 24 hours also in the hall like me-yelled he is LEAVING TAKE OUT MY IV. He started to pull on his arm and then and ONLY THEN did the nurses bother to come over. But they wouldnt let him leave. They refused to tell him who was his doctor, when he would be admitted. He said you better let me LEAVE I will go to ANOTHER HOSPITAL and they again protested. He ALSO dialed 911 and ONLY THEN DID THEY REMOVE THE IV. I complained others were admitted WAY BEFORE ME-and I could not get any answers. AFTER ADMISSION-the "ATTENDING" who was listed on my chart NEVER CAME IN 10 DAYS NOT ONCE The nurses said "we called and called him we never see him" TOTALLY IRRESONSIBLE And gross negligence! NOTHING HAS IMPROVED HERE OH=- and the KITCHEN CHEATED ME out of FOOD at every single meal. I submitted my online form-and about 40% Of what I ordered and they billed my insurance for was MISSING EVERRY TIME I called and complained and they said "WE ARE BUSY and HUNG UP". If you expect PRIVACY and them to ADHERE TO HIPPA FORGET IT! WHY IS IT NO DEMOCRATIC POLOTICIANS EVER IN VESTIGATE EMERGENCY ROOMS - SAME FOR THE NEWS. If you REPORT ABUSE they IGNORE YOU

TOTAL DISGRACE: Illegal Cover-Ups, Open Racism, and Abuse of Disabled Patients…read moreI am writing this review today, May 18, 2026, to expose the absolute malpractice, bigotry, and corruption at Mount Sinai Hospital and Vascular Center (3131 Kings Highway, Brooklyn). If you are disabled, a minority, or in severe pain, stay far away from this place. The staff here operate with zero humanity. I am a disabled Latino patient with severe walking difficulties, wearing a brace on my right knee and a brace on my right elbow. I booked a musculoskeletal and joint ultrasound appointment two weeks ago, filled out all my intake paperwork online, and arrived early at 2:10 PM. What followed was a multi-level nightmare of systemic abuse: The 3rd Floor Vascular Office was clean except the patient bathroom was absolutely filthy, disgusting, and completely lacked toilet paper. Thank God I brought my own tissues. When I arrived, a bald Hispanic male receptionist with a beard and mustache demanded my ID. When I tried to show him my medical prescription, he told me to show it to the PA and asked me to sit down. After waiting 35 minutes in pain, a tall male nurse (beard, mustache, glasses) took me aside, and I was suddenly surrounded for no reason by two female nurses who looked completely clueless. Despite the fact that I had uploaded everything to my online chart, carried PDF copies on my phone, and had the physical prescription in hand, I showed him the prescription, and he flatly refused to help, stating, "WE DO NOT DO THIS TEST HERE GO TO LL." I told him the Lower Level explicitly referred me here, but he refused to listen, making cheap excuses. When I literally pleaded with him, "Look at me, look at my walking difficulties, I can't go around in circles. You work here, can you please find out for me?", he looked a disabled person in the eye and said, "Go downstairs if not sorry, bye bye." I went to Patient Relations on 3131Kings Highway to report this. The male Jewish employee there turned out to be ROMAN, THE DIRECTOR OF PATIENT RELATIONS. He was actively busy playing video games on his cell phone. As I stood there in agony trying to explain that I was in severe pain, he never even looked up at me because he was more interested in his phone screen. He coldly told me to "come back later or tomorrow" there is no one here to help I asked him since he was in the PR office, "Are you part of the Patient relations staff?" and he stated "NO I AM JUST USING THE OFFICE" and completely refused to assist me. He also screamed at me twice and I left in fear. I went down to the Lower Level for advice. The two nasty women at the desk included the exact person who had misleadingly scheduled my appointment two weeks ago. When I asked where I was supposed to go, they snapped, "DON'T KNOW GO TO THE OTHER BUILDING," expecting a disabled patient to inherently know their campus layout. As I turned to leave in excruciating pain, they muttered a nasty, racist word under their breath. When I turned around and asked them what their problem was and why they were making racist remarks to a disabled Latino, they just sat there laughing at me. I walk to the other building. The two security guards there were practically sleeping with zero professionalism. I asked for help, and the female guard took my ID but completely ignored my questions. She then told me, "Oh it is too difficult to explain, go there and go North then South." I walked away because she was half-asleep and the area smelled heavily of marijuana. I didn't know where to go, nobody to help and I found the other Patient Relations office in the second building. A very sweet, caring lady who was finishing her lunch took the time to actually look into my chart. What she found was horrifying: someone on the 3rd floor had ILLEGALLY DELETED my appointment from the system to cover their tracks. Because I keep meticulous records, I was able to prove to her that I had a valid appointment. When this kind lady called the 3rd floor to confront them, they explicitly lied to her and claimed I was never there. However, they didn't realize I speak Spanish and I perfectly described every single employee, including the 3rd-floor front desk receptionist. While I was waiting earlier, that bald receptionist, unaware that I understood Spanish, was complaining to a cleaning lady named Maria, saying: "All these disgusting people, pigs, filthies made a mess here and eat the toilet paper, I am tired of all these degenerates." Once I detailed this exact conversation and described the entire room of staff and patients, the 3rd-floor staff were caught red-handed in their lie. They completely froze and could not explain to the main office why they illegally deleted my appointment before 3:00 PM. Even though the lady in the second building was nice, she refused to take a formal complaint, This place treats disabled human beings worse than a third-world country.

I've been here (ER) twice with my husband. Both times, the experience with security left me in…read moretears. As a side note, this will read like I'm fresh off the incidents, but they were so egregious that this is weeks later from the most recent visit and I'm still upset. The first time I ran in ahead of my husband asking for a wheelchair bc he couldn't walk any further and was just outside of the hospital entrance vomiting. The security team, all of them, stared at me blankly until one said, "well, why would you leave him all by himself?" and they all just continued to sit unresponsive. I assumed someone would offer a wheelchair so I could go back out to get him. No. Not even the triage team was concerned enough to acknowledge me even though he ended up being admitted for emergency surgery. I understand they see a lot of crazy things, but I'm standing there saying IDK what to do my husband can't walk he's right outside and blank stares is just not what I expected. I ended up going back outside and practically dragged him in. Honestly, maybe I am mistaken, but If I called 911 for an ambulance, wouldn't they get him in to thehospital? But if I'm actually at the hospital, at the front door, they can't give me a wheelchair? The second time, I rushed him to the ER and was not asked to provide ID when we first went back. This will be important in a moment but first, I exited the ER to go back to triage after no one had come to us after an hour even though we were expedited through triage and come to find out that they were actually looking for us but no one knew where he had been placed. All the while he was in agony (and again needed emergency surgery). Now, back to the ID issue. I tried to walk back into the ER after getting that info from the triage nurse and security stopped me for not having a pass. I do love that, security is very important and often overlooked (as it was when I was let back an hour before without a pass). I was told to get a pass which I happily went to do. But when I was asked for my ID I told them that I just came from the ER with my husband and that my purse with ID was back with him. I was then told I could not be permitted in. The triage nurse who was helping me previously stepped in to let security know that I was just back there and he could confirm my husband was in fact in the ER and that he checked him in. The security officer told me that that was not his problem and that he wasn't getting into trouble over me. I was so shocked and the nurse, made a "you're on your own/yikes" face backed away. I was VERY polite as one must be when dealing with an unreasonable person holding the power and asked how I could get back to my husband without my ID, like being escorted back to my husband. Surely people arrive to the EMERGENCY room without with IDs all the time. I was not just told no, but I was scolded for not carrying it with me and then lectured on how I am not supposed to go anywhere without my ID. (Really?) This went one for an comfortable amount of time while I'm silently nodding in agreement and holding back tears just wanting to get back to my husband who was suffering all alone. When he finished I said, okay, what do you reccommend I do? and the tears just started falling. This man says to me "AND NOW YOU'RE LAUGHING? This isn't funny. This is serious. I'm not getting into trouble over you!" Then he let me in without ever even asking my name or the person I was visiting (doesn't that defeat the purpose of the pass? He can't even follow up). But how can a person, so unable to tell the difference between laughter and a sobbing woman even function in life let alone hold a position of power? There were several other issues, including not one of my four phone calls (over 4 days) being returned because I had a question about one of the medications prescribed after his first surgery, but I will let this review be focused on the security team which will prevent us from returning to this location.

When we brought it to the nurse's attention, she reacted immediately, which we appreciated. However, she did so without wearing gloves, getting blood on her hands. This does not inspire confidence in the hospital's safety protocols.
