I have been going to Robert James Salon for 4 years and i wouldn't want to go anywhere else! I am what you would call a difficult client. I love crazy colors and I'm very particular about hues and undertones... meanwhile my hair is dark brown. I've switched colors 8 times since becoming a client at Robert James, and Lisa P and her team always have me leaving feeling like a princess! They know the limits of your hair, they aren't afraid of a challenge, and with their new line of dye they really can get you any color you want: natural or crazy! If you are on Long Island I HIGHLY recommend going to Robert James Salon. Also side note this is Tim's gf haha but he also gets cut here too and loves it even though he's very picky about who touches his hair! read more

How do I begin...my son is getting married and been at my wits end with the frizz in my hair and trying to get my hair to keep a curl. I booked an appt only because this salon was on the list from the hotel. Was nervous trusting someone I didn't know anything about. Lisa, the owner, was an angel sent as a hair cutter. Super knowledgeable about different options for me regarding keratins, hair products and hairdos. She was so generous with her time. I came for a trial hairdo and she rearranged her other appt and did a keratin which came out perfect. Obviously, she is doing my hair for the wedding! I totally love her and recommend her to anyone that needs a great hair stylist!!!. read more

This place is so poorly run it is amazing it is still in business. It's dirty and they don't honor appointments. I called ahead and made an appointment for 3:30, I got there a little early (my bad), and saw someone come in after me and get washed. No problem yet, could be going to anybody, well, 3:30 comes and goes, I decide to see where my stylist is. She's cutting the woman I just saw get washed hair. I ask how long she will be "40 minutes"!! Are you kidding me!?! No apology from the owner as I walked out, business as usual. I guess dissatisfied customers are the norm. read more

I went in for a bang trim. I have side bangs and before the girl cut my hair (unsure of her name, she's blonde and towards the front of the salon) she said you wear them to the side, not straight across right? I said yes, to the side.... I specifically said to her that I did not want them short I just needed a little taken off because they were getting so long. She proceeded to cut them the shortest i've ever seen... and not only are they short they are uneven, almost like a rainbow long on the side short in the middle and long again in the middle of my forehead. She laughed and told me my bangs had a mind of their own and that I could wear them across if I wanted to.... That's not what I asked for. I am so upset with how they turned out. The hairdressers are absolutely amazing. Unfortunately not a lot of them left. The ones that still stayed despite the tense atmosphere are very nice, professional and do an amazing job. However, the front desk and the management has progressively declined. Being a customer a few years, I have not experience more rude, filled with an attitude approach to a customer from the front desk. There is complete disregard for professionalism from management, flexibility and rudeness. It is hugely bad business practice to turn away a customer of several years and standing weekly appointments, because of being few minutes late. Furthermore, the management did not even attempt to rectify the situation. read more
