I've also attended multiple events through Hardcovers, and they are always incredibly well planned, organized, and fun. You can tell how much care and effort the team puts into creating a great experience for readers and bringing the romance community together. They also make preordering books really easy, which I appreciate, especially when there's a new release I don't want to miss. On top of all that, the staff are consistently friendly, kind, and helpful. Hardcovers has created more than just a bookstore--it feels like a community for people who genuinely love romance books. There is a good selection of puzzles ranging between 300 and 1500 pieces. Some are used but have good prices. If you see a book with a red dot on it, it is used and has a lower price. There is a really nice gentleman who was working the registers who left his post to try and help me find any books on potty , because I wasn't able to find any myself. He informed me they had just moved the potty books, and he hadn't had time to familiarize himself with the section, but he wasn't able to find any either. He apologized profusely, and informed me he had to go back to the registers and his coworker who was in receiving would be out in a few minutes and could potentially help me. He also apologized because they were short staffed. This is obviously not his fault, but man, what a shame, I had another set of books in my hands and a floor puzzle. I put everything back and I'll be ordering it all on Amazon.

So if you miss this mega book chain then here you have it in Kirkland. After an appointment nearby, I decided to walk around the shopping center, checking out what's new and spotted Barnes & Noble. When I walked in, I saw there was a café to the right of the entrance and the main store straight ahead, which is more compact in size than other BN locations I've visited. None the less, it is an inviting space with a lot to check out. Like I mentioned, the size is much smaller than expected, but the selection is key here, as they feature a lot of their best selling items and new releases. I also liked that the dark green and dark wood accents are long gone, as the store has transformed into a more well-lit, bright space. If you're a reader and are at the Totem Lake shopping plaza, then this new Barnes & Nobles is worth a gander.

They have tons of cool events posted on flyers and chalkboards that are worth checking out. I really liked their selection and it's organized really well. I took a couple pictures of books I want to come back for. I just wish the space was a little cozier, though that's not much of something they can help. Personally, I would have a hard time reading underneath the rectangular LED ceiling lights.

So, I was thrilled when I found that, not only did the stores still exist, but they had a Lynnwood location when I was in that part of the metro Seattle area. It was fantastic to be able to browse a huge collection of music and movies, and find great titles at wonderful prices. On the music side of things, they had loads of used titles, and I was exstatic to see how many new discs they had in stock. I asked at the counter if they had a section for SACD (Super Audio Compact Disc) music, a format that has always been a niche product, and has very few titles being released any more. The person behind the counter not only knew what I was talking about, but he apologized for not having a separate section for these discs, and told me I would find them mixed in with everything else by the same artists. I am very much looking forward to my next visit to the Seattle area, and being able to browse some more.

I returned a record as it was skipping right on the first track. None of my other records that I bought previously not only from here, but from other record stores did not have that issue. I spoke to a man that I think was a manager or something, I was explaining what happened and he immediately judged my record player for being on the cheap end that's why my record was skipping. He asked another question if my speakers were built in, as that can also cause it to skip? I'm not new to this. But to use my record player as an excuse to why the record was skipping was insulting. I told him that none of my other records were doing it, so they need to replace it, in which they did. Guess what? The new copy DID NOT SKIP! So that crosses off my record player as the reason. I did not appreciate that kind of talk. Will I be back? Yes, I think so. But that left a bad taste in my mouth.
