Main Street Amusements has exceptionally well maintained games and certain games are as little as 25 cents per play- a real bargain these days. The games accept tokens or app-pay via smartphone. Bonus tokens are given for purchasing tokens in quantity. MSA is a clean and well lighted facility- an excellent destination for family fun as well as adult relaxation. Tournament and league play weekly as well as special events. MSA is in a great location with lots of free parking street-side. So much more than just a nostalgia destination; why not visit MSA soon and make some new memories or re-live past good times! read more

What a great arcade! Main Street Amusements focuses solely on pinball machines dating from the first half of the 20th century with Bally's 'Rocket' and 'Morocco' to modern machines such as the Tron reboot and Avatar. They've even got machines older than your grand dad that cost a mere nickel! If you ask nicely, the owner might even break out the cool fortune teller machine. I envision Main Street Amusements as a great place for parties (no alcohol, though) and it's certainly a great way to spend an evening downtown after shopping and dining. There's not much to say about Main Street Amusements other than it is downright fun. If you are into arcade games or classic pinball, this is the best place in the Lafayette area to go. As a Purdue student, I go here with friends every month or so. Dinner, pinball, and then some nightlife? That's the perfect night out in Lafayette. The collection of Pinball machines spans every era and there are plenty of games to keep you entertained. My personal favorites are The Walking Dead, TRON, and Monopoly. Payment here is pretty simple and actually quite flexible for an arcade. You can, of course, pay for tokens with cash. You can also swipe your card, but the coolest option is that you can download an app on your phone to add funds to, and the machine pays via your phone over Bluetooth. It's very convenient. The prices are pretty cheap for an arcade. You can get a good amount of time here for about $5, and it helps if you are able to keep the ball in play for longer of course! If you're at all a pinball fan, you have to check this place out. read more

Awesome walk through pinball history! These machines go thru world class level of maintenance by a true pinhead who knows the machines inside and out. Great way to lose a few hours on an evening! I personally love following them on Facebook just to see the things the owner is working on. He's part engineer, part artisan, and part pinball-crazed madman who is always up to something cool. It's great to see a place like this downtown where people can go and have a good time. It's a good time out with your friends and family. Tables are very well maintained and reasonably priced. Some of the vintage games only cost a quarter to play! You can't beat that! read more

As a child of the 80s, this brings me to my childhood! A great selection of vintage to more modern pinball machines that are well maintained. Games range in price from $0.25 - $1.00 and some have 4 plays for the price of 3. The interior is clean and has a nice touch of the 80s with graffiti art decoration. To make it even better, the classic oldies tunes are from a vintage juke box. There is no food and drink, but my friends and I brought in coffee from a nearby shop with no trouble and we spotted menus from nearby restaurants so perhaps they'd allow you to bring food in, but, if not, the location is surrounded by several great downtown Lafayette spots within walking distance. You don't have to spend a lot to have fun, but I could see this place draining lots of "quarters" from my wallet! read more

How is it possible that I went to Purdue (and lived in West Lafayette) for 4 whole years and not once heard about this diamond-in-the-rough? HOW?!? Quite simply, Main Street Amusements is one of the best places in the entire midwest to get your pinball fix. They have ~20 of them, ranging from the newest Stern 'Tron' to super old-school Gottlieb tables with mechanical score reels. Keep your quarters at home, kids--these games run strictly on tokens, which can be purchased towards the back of the room. But wait! MSA's token machine isn't like the rest--it accepts plastic, so you can charge $1, $5, $10, or $20 to your Visa, Discover, or Mastercard. Talk about ultra-convenient! The pre-80's tables cost 1 token, the 80's tables take 2, and the rest--which is most of them--take 3. It's $0.75/game, which when you compare MSA to other pinball palaces, doesn't seem all that special (games are 75 cents here, at Logan Arcade they're 50 cents, at Emporium they're 25 cents, and at Headquarters, they're free). However, the quality of tables here eclipsed even my highest expectations. Allow me to make a bold statement: Main Street Amusements has some of the best-conditioned pinball tables I've ever played on. This is coming from a pinball fanatic, who owns one himself and knows waaaaay too much about the world of the silver ball. I want to send a GIANT kudos to the proprietor of this fine venue for maintaining such excellent tables. I have not seen pinballs of this caliber in my entire life, honestly. You can go online to see what all they have, but the ones that stood out to me were: + Creature from the Black Lagoon + Demolition Man +Terminator 2 +Twilight Zone +Theater of Magic + Most--if not all--pins have been modded with LEDs and cleaned up to the point of looking brand new. Flippers are strong, jets seem super-charged, and I didn't notice a single hiccup while playing. I don't consider their (relatively poor) street visibility or lack of advertising to be a drawback, because the more this place remains a well-kept secret, the better condition the pins will stay in. My only--and I stress only--negative criticism about MSA is their hours of operation. I would love to come here on a lazy Sunday afternoon and waste the day away, but they're closed every Sunday, which kinda sucks (although is typical for bible-thumping Indiana). In addition, they're only open evenings from 7pm-11pm, which is a pretty tiny window to get your tilts & nudges in. In short, I've fallen head-over-heels in love with MSA. Major props to 'Dan S' for running such an outstanding pinball parlor. We share the same shiny passion; from one wizard to another, I THANK YOU! Six stars. read more

Such a fun place with a slight nostalgic feel. Easy setup with a coin machine in the back to get tokens and wall to wall pinball machines. Some new digital versions as well. They also have one of the largest pac man games also, you have to give that a try if you are a fan. It's very clean inside and the games are all well placed. The owner does get new games often I believe and works on them in the back. It's a simple setup that works great, with potential to add or grow the current setup. It's worth a visit or nice way to add to an evening out! read more

You know that scene in "Princess Diaries" where Anne Hathaway and Julie Andrews go to the arcade together? That's how I feel when I'm at Main Street Amusements. I think it's Lafayette's finest hidden gem, and I couldn't believe I only discovered it after I graduated from Purdue. It's such a fun spot for a date, and you can't go wrong with a place that has a dog or two wandering around. Make sure you check the hours because they're not always open, but swing by as soon as you can. read more

This place is obviously a labor of love. I love following the Facebook page because the owner gives insights into the projects that they are working on. The machines are obviously well kept and maintained. There's a lot to love about the games, their condition and the atmosphere. When I lived in Lafayette I would drop in about once a month, but now I haven't been in a couple years. One of the things I love is that games will rotate as they're being maintained and/or acquired or, I assume, sold. I've never gotten bored of their games and although some of the games seem pricy at first, when you think about it the maintenance and rotation of games is clearly worth it. Also, they do have $.25 games so it's not like you're forced to play the more expensive games. OK tables but this place is a rip off. I understand it's an art to maintain pinball tables but the owner of this place is fleecing the customers. Nothing will change because you have no other choice -- but your reality here is you will play a lot of frustrating games where you wonde why the ball went to the side pocket. The answer is the owner had the settings ramped up (everything is adjustable and the owner has set these to take your money) so I do not think this place is a fun place to play. I play all around the country and this was the only place I've played that made me upset. Owner could make tables friendlier but he will instead choose to respond and attack my perspective. So, boring America -- you have a pinball arcade but the greedy man running it has made it no fun. They aren't even the best tables so I don't understand why he is so greedy. Oh well, I won't come back when I'm back in town for work but I know if your reading this you have no other options so my recommendation is to pay cash (don't use the app! After dinner in downtown Lafayette, we stumbled onto Main Street Amusements - total blast from the past! This little gem is an arcade mostly full of a large variety of pinball machines. Love! Many were older (maybe antiques), but all were smooth functioning and very clean. The owner used the back of the store as a workshop. It, too, was very clean. If pinball isn't your thing, no worries! There are video games to play as well. All games (pinball included) require 1-2 tokens ($1 = 4 tokens), so the cost was no different than what paid to play such games 20 years ago in arcades. Very affordable! In all, I am no pinball wizard, but I really enjoyed this place! If you like a little arcade fun, check this place out! read more

I have been meaning to take a roadtrip from Indianapolis to see Main Street Amusements for a couple years now. What an amazing place! Each and every one of the machines has been lovingly restored and/or maintained. Some of the older machines might have had best 'action' but for the nostalgic value alone it was great to play them as well! The place is very clean and inviting and I loved the '10 cent' Coke machine in the back (you just have to walk back there and the owner's cool dog will bark to let his owner know that you need a drink. It's only $1 to get to push the lever and open the door to grab some refreshment.). There are even drink holders on the sides of the machines, which was way cool! Someone else mentioned that the coin changer takes credit cards for incremental amounts of tokens, which was very convenient. Also loved that the older machines still only cost 1 token (25 cents!), the midrange machines 2 tokens and the newer machines 3 tokens. Liked that there were machines in various stages of repair that you could see in the back workshop. Hope the Centipede machine is up and running the next time I visit. I was happy to see a lot of younger folks and not just 'old flippers' like me who were enjoying what I hope is a renaissance of the Golden Age of Pinball when you could not walk into a bar or a mall without seeing a flock of them. An old fashioned pinball arcade! What a blast from the past, and what a great time! We always intend to only spend an hour there and wide up staying far longer, trying to get that replay or high score. We can't leave now - I almost got multiball! Dan has a wide variety of games from the 1970s through today, including some of the classics (Twilight Zone, Creature from the Black Lagoon, Revenge from Mars) and he really knows his stuff. We bring the kids here whenever they are in town, and we even held part of our wedding reception here! It's a whole lot of fun for the whole family. read more

I was looking for a machine called Tri Zone for a little over a year. I found one that needed a little bit of work and took it to Dan at MSA. He was fast, professional and courteous in repairing my machine. I happen to know a lot of pinball repair guys, but I decided to put faith in Dan that he would do a good job, (especially considering he already owns one.) Long story short, I got the machine I wanted for a total price of less that I wanted to pay, and I would recommend taking any pinball, arcade, jukebox, other machine to MSA for fast, inexpensive, reliable repair. read more

Main Street Amusements is an excellent arcade with a selection of pinballs dating from early classics to more modern machines (and some of the most renowned!) like Medieval Madness, South Park, Family Guy, and Twilight Zone. The best part about it is first realizing how few places carry pinball anymore and second realizing that the owner keeps the machines in top-notch condition as many machines break kind of easily without regular maintenance It's lucky to have a place like this in Lafayette, check it out. read more
