This used to be one store, but they have expanded to the shop next door so there are actually 2 shops. Prices are decent but you need to know your price points. The only problem I saw was the staff seemed to be preoccupied with everything/anything else they were doing. One employee was standing at the front of the store by the checkout area on his phone looking up prices, via Siri. Not an overly professional way to show off your knowledge or lack there of.

I was on the hunt for jade-ite and found a few pieces, though I did not purchase given it wasn't quite what I was looking for. The prices are a bit steeper here; however, the quality of rare vintage finds is also a bit better. As others on the tour have done, the staff was eager to recommend and support other local shops, which we really appreciated their shared support for one another.

There are 100 booths and about 75% carry interesting merchandise. Most booths were well organized. Prices are better than area antique stores. The clerks are friendly and let you wander at your own pace. Today, I left empty handed. But that's probably a good thing. I'll be back in the fall. There's plenty of parking in the aging strip mall.

This is a pretty interesting little antique shop in downtown Lafayette. They've got all kinds of…read moreitems for sale that are very interesting and creative. The shop is very clean and, unlike many stores of this nature, you can walk around without fear of creating a domino-effect of falling knick-knacks. I saw a really interesting German bicycle here recently - it was from the early 1970s and was made in West German, which I thought was neat. The shop owner was very knowledgeable about the bike and was able to tell me a little history on it. If you're strolling down Main Street and are doing some shopping or have some time on your hands, Main Street Mercantile is a great place to have a look-see.

I'm afraid to say that being a retail business is hard, and sometimes people get worn out from it. That said this is a solid shop, and there is a lot of inventory that changes ALL THE TIME ! I know I've been there and bought stuff for 25 years!). The owner operators have hearts of gold, but it's hard to show it every day for 30+ years! People love the quirks of the "TV show" people, but when they encounter real people... run to the internet and "trash them". Be kind... it's a store that is unlike any other for 200 miles or more. They support the kids of this community in many ways for many years, sure they may have pissed a few people off, but like I said, they have hearts of gold and more often than not are kind and helpful.
