Great place, loved the atmosphere in a very historic old building downtown. If you want to eat at a place with local charm , great service and food , this is a good place to come. We were traveling and were recommend this place. I had the prime New York strip , husband had the ribeye. Cooked medium how we like, not overdone, great flavor. Kids had burgers and were happy. Peach cobbler was great too. Friendly and attentive staff, that seemed like they enjoy the place. So much history all over the place. Will come back again when we are in the area . read more

Food: Read some mixed reviews on the hit or miss food, so I came in with an open mind. The good is that the sirloin steak was pretty good, even though it wasn't medium rare, it was more medium well but I wasn't about to send it back. Colleague said his fish was good too. The bad is, we ordered the pita and spinach dip, but the guy brought out a whole bunch of little pieces of pita chips. So okay, I get it, they don't have to all be solid crackers, but the whole lot was like, bottom of the bag chips. I wasn't really happy with that, but I'm not the kind of person to send the food back for something like that either. Also - there's no presentation. Just a solid steak with a bowl of mushrooms. Like, maybe garnish it with something on the side, it just looked kinda sad all alone on the plate. Atmosphere: Sounds weird, but the place smells musty like my grandmas place in South Dakota. Reminded me of that immediately. I know they probably can't get rid of the smell, so I'm not dogging it, but I'm not a huge fan either. Too many memories... Price: Sirloin for 31$, app and a drink will run you about 40-45$ total, so it isn't horrible, but again, no presentation, chip pieces... I didn't expect it to be that simple. Still, not too bad for the price overall. I don't know how expensive the alcohol is, sorry! Service: Our server was okay, no complaints. Not overly friendly or overly rude, just kind of whatever. Overall: I'm a little on the fence with this one. Food was okay, price decent, place was eclectic but had that odd smell. I'd go back maybe to try something else, but nothing that I would ever crave. read more

The crusted catfish was raw in the middle so I stopped eating. Finally 15 minutes after everyone was done eating, the server stopped by and I let them know. I then requested our ticket, and the deserts we had ordered. We continued to wait but finally had to leave as we got tired of waiting. In addition, they will ask you if you want ice cream with your cobbler without telling you it's an up charge. They also charge you a fee for using credit cards. read more

My husband and I stopped in on Valentine's Day. The service was great, we were seated and attended to immediately. The drinks were delicious and strong- just how I like. For New Year's Eve we had a 630 pm reservation.at the Main Street Pub in Gainesville Tx. We were seated along the backside of the restaurant which was OK until a huge party of eight came in. After that the guests pulled together two additional 4 tops. So the good service ended but to the sever's defense there was no way he could effectively serve that many guests. So we ordered two Old Fashions . They were below average and watered down. We ordered the prime rib New Year Eve special and the restaurant w was sold out by 615. Poor planning on their part. We shared a Rib Eye that had no flavor and came with 4 pieces of asparagus. So sharing 4 pieces came down to 2 limp pieces of asparagus. Really??? So $150 later we walked out disappointed. I've read a lot of positive reviews on this restaurant and it received 41/2 stars. I'm not sure why. Will not go back and will not refer. read more

Disappointing. We had never been here before. I had read some good Facebook reviews about the place after it was reopened with new management. Maybe my expectations were too high. In a nutshell, we were not impressed, won't recommend it, and probably won't be back. Issues: 1.) Too few servers - understandable, forgivable, won't hold it against them. Until supply/demand works itself out, this plagues every restaurant nowadays 2.) Prices are steakhouse prices - so there is an expectation of well above average food - it was not. The chicken fried steak was supposed to be wagyu beef and it's priced at $20. It was not an exceptional piece of meat, it wasn't tender, and wasn't worth $20. Hot sides came out cold, baked potato was giant, but undercooked. One good thing - the salad was fine. I wish I could recommend this place, I like helping out local business, but I can't recommend this one. I hope they get better for their sake. read more

We ate here last night and will definitely be back. The service was not great but with staffing issues right now it is understandable. They made up for it in friendliness though. We ordered the charcuterie board, which it said sausage assortment, turned out to be cheddarwurst slices, store bought cheese cubes, pretzels, and a hefty helping of stone ground mustard. Ordered a hamburger with cheese, bacon, and lettuce ONLY. ( waitress even read it back correct) Arrived with mustard, mayo, tomato, pickles, onions, and lettuce. Asked for gravy for my chicken fired steak, was told they were gonna have to heat some up....aka microwave. Gravy was not made in house (institutional gravy....powered gravy mix). Was out of mashed potatoes, was out of potato chips, was out of Togo boxes. Steaks were actually really good....which they better have been....6oz filet was $50. 5 people (2steaks, 1 hamburger, 1 catfish, 1 small chicken fried steak, 2 adult beverages) $240 incl. tip Will never return. Staff was very nice. No complaints of the staff excepts for not making sure orders were correct before serving. read more

Well first off, it's not a pub at all. It's a small town locals restaurant where they all wear cowboy hats and boots. If your an out of towner with tattoos you will be looked at strangely. Our waitress was very nice and the food was decent. The artichoke dip is served cold, the chips and queso is straight out of a bag. I had a chicken fried steak which was okay but nothing out of the ordinary. The good news is the beer was cold, just like the states we received when we walked in on a Friday night. Nice place but for a Saturday night it is slow and so are the waitresses. Need to learn that even healthy food needs some things like salt. Instant mashed potatoes and canned vegetables. I have been to Main Street Pub on several occasions and always gotten great meals. The atmosphere is cowboy/Texas with pictures of horses on all the walls. It is more restaurant than pub. Tonight I had the Hamburger Steak which was smothered in brown gravy, onions and mushrooms. It was delicious and came with a fresh crispy salad with real blue cheese crumbles. My other visits have been at lunch or other weeknights - not Friday night. Friday night is much busier ! The wait was only a few minutes although the place was packed. Negatives tonight were the loud noise level and our very nice waitress was running between too many tables. read more
