I am very UNHAPPY with a recent hair service where I received unexpected highlights from a new employee, McKenna, even though I clearly asked for a solid, all-over hair color. I booked for all over color and later was told it would be a bleaching service instead if I wanted to go lighter. I agreed to all over color and going lighter. So this was fine. I originally had all over hair color that was dark brown with naturally grown out roots (2-3 inches). Then McKenna mentioned she was doing something similar to "balayage" when the other stylist and their client asked what she was doing to my hair. I clearly communicated my preference against highlights multiple times, even questioning the stylist during the process when her technique appeared inconsistent with a solid application. Despite assurances of an all-over color, my hair developed "dimensions" and it was BLONDE with noticeable damage to my hair. I thought she was coloring my roots but she was creating "dimensions". Dimensions is not all over color. Dimensions is "highlights", streaks, and lines that's not all over color. I wanted one solid color and for my black roots to be matching the brown all over color. Does that make sense? Does that mean I want highlights? When I contacted the business via email, the owner responded. We went back and forth few times. She only offered to have McKenna fix it, which I didn't want, and suggested just toning it darker, which I knew wouldn't stop the highlights from reappearing. The salon owner's subsequent offer to explain why "highlights" were necessary, rather than acknowledging the deviation from my original request, further illustrates a misunderstanding of my concerns. This experience represents a critical breakdown in communication and trust, as I was misled about the service being performed and would have sought a different salon. I don't think this salon does lift and color method. Or the owner is protecting the new stylist's mistakes. Regardless, McKenna is busy posting on Instagram. There is a photo of my hair and titles it "Behind the scenes" like it is a proud moment for her to lie to a client rather than reaching out to apologize. She should have been saving my hair from being burnt off other than taking photos at the sink. My hair is burnt off and I'm pretty she noticed it when she was blow drying my hair. She failed to mentioned the blotches and missing hair. I did not even get the deep conditioning treatment that I requested. I did get anything that I requested or wanted! In the end, I have unwanted highlights and less hair than before. My hair color is further away from my intended goal because she ignored everything that I said and gave me brassy highlights. I requested for refund or another stylist at the same location to correct my hair. That's when communication stopped and the owner never responded again. This service totaled $270. Here's the thing. New stylist and seasoned stylists can make mistakes! But the stylist is posting on social media other than apologizing. The business owner doesn't understand why you don't want to be getting your done by the same stylists that did everything other than what you have requested... this is not a good business to support. read more

I came to this salon 2x to color my hair. Every time I'd walk in there, I could feel and see the judgy looks from the people getting services and giving them. Was it because I wasn't woman # 45 getting their hair dyed blond? Was it because I'm not slim and glamorously dressed? Because my weekends are my comfy times, so I'm not about to let that environment get to me to be honest. My hair dresser was always polite and nice but it felt forced and almost like she didn't want to work with me. These fears were exacerbated when I called to make a third appointment and I never got a call back, despite leaving a voicemail, as the prompt said. Anta is the best! Honestly all the ladies at this salon are so friendly and the vibes here are always so fun, even during Covid. But this review is specifically about Anta. She is a hair goddess. Like legitimately a goddess. She is super approachable and funny but on top of her awesome energy, she just does really good hair. I've been seeing her for a year plus now, and she always goes above and beyond on my highlights and overall color. My highlights were not done very close to the roots and a week later looked as if they had been growing out for over a month (my hair grows at turtle speed). I've been coming to the Main Street salon for about 5 years now all those years I've been seeing Shannin. I absolutely love Shannin and of course the salon. All the ladies that work here are very professional, they have tons of hair products on hand for purchase and there's always a great vibe. I went in after a terrible experience with another salon that left my hair fried. I was greeted by smiling faces. Caitlin was the one that fielded my questions. She answered them and made me an appointment. I went in for my appt with pictures and opinions. She helped me figure out what would look good on me, what would get rid of the damaged hair and we settled on one specific picture. After a wash, 35 minutes and some good conversation she swirled me around to the mirror and Bam! My hair looked exactly like the picture we chose. My hair felt soft, healthy and beautiful again! I had a terrible experience with Shayli here. She canceled my apt day of to "get a flight" Sat then posted on her instagram doing someone else's hair, & rescheduled me for thurs at 6. I texted at 4 to confirm to be safe and she tried to cancel again saying she wrote down the wrong day & asked if I could come at 3 another day but I work 9-5 (which is why I made my og apt on sat) so she said she could make it work to do the 6 apt that day. It was awkward when I got there I could tell she was annoyed she had to be there so late and she clearly rushed my hair. I asked to go blonde from my light brown hair w/ grown out highlights (see pictures), this was my third apt with her and not my first time coming in to be blonder so I was expecting to be mostly blonde afterwards....I don't know how someone can both not change your color and make it look worse. It's never a good sign when your stylist says "the lighting in here is weird but I swear it looks good in person!" And "you may just need to play with your part a bit to find a side it looks good" I left with her giving me a middle part to try & make it look better even tho I part on the side. Also I did not ask for a partial foil but she only dyed the top half of my head (prob to go home sooner). I was also supposed to have a cut at this apt but she told me since It was getting late we'd have to do it at my next apt in 2 months...like why set my apt for 6pm if you wont have time to give me the cut/color I asked for? For someone who's supposed to specialize in "blondes" it's clear she's only good at doing your roots if you're already blonde, otherwise not good! Also texted her after my apt that I did not like it and wanted to make a new apt to fix it (dye bottom half & maybe blonde higher up/front strips or something?) and got no response. Love that! Maybe she'll text me back after this Yelp review :) idk I will probably just go somewhere else to fix it... UPDATE: messaged the salon owner who was nice and gave me a full refund. After seeing the yelp review Shayli did text me back (lol) 3 days later, but only to tell me she was upset about the yelp review & I should have told her on the spot at 8:30pm i didn't like it and to fix it, even though I texted her immediately when I got home. Also said she had to tone the top brown to match the rest of my hair, although we can see from the pics none of my hair matches :) overall, I guess the owner is nice so maybe just try someone else who works there... I texted an old stylist pics of my hair who says Shayli had no idea what to do with color and she will need to book me for a 4 hour color correction apt, that will cost $300 to fix the work I had done with Shayli! read more

I initially found this salon in February and came in looking like a mess at the end of the day. Shayli did a great job on my hair removing hair extension glue from all over my hair (salon owner helping which is a great teamwork), then lighting up my hair and applying new hair extensions(tapeins). I was the last one to leave the salon for the night and Shayli paid very great attention to my hair without rushing and even made sure I was safe going to my car. I came out very satisfied with the service and how my hair turned out. My hair survived through quarantine with Shayli being the last one to work on my hair. I followed her to a salon in Bonney Lake and then on to Main Street Salon in Sumner. Ok, now here it is...I live in Redmond, WA. I travel because she is worth it! My foils are always perfect and my hair is always in good condition even right after. She listens and I have never had one of 'those' haircuts (the ones where you want to put a sack over your head on leaving). Her salon is stylish and upbeat and laid back at the same time. This is a nice little Salon. I rarely cut my hair (maybe twice a year at most) and I am in charge of dying it myself. I wanted to have a lot hacked off because my hair had gotten so long that I wanted something easy to maintain. I had Christina as my stylist and she was sweet. She cut my hair the way I wanted it for the most part. I wanted more drastic layers and bangs but I understand her hesitations since my hair is super thick and bushy. The only issue I had was when my stylist commented on my hair color (it was purple at the time) and asked if I liked the attention. It was a little too inquisitive for my tastes and slightly offended me. If you have unnatural hair colors, do have this in mind beforehand as it is a Salon that caters to older, upper middle class women. read more

I first found Antonella a few months ago while looking for a stylist. I was so busy with work and my kids I was forgetting to take car of myself. I hadn't been to a salon in several years and was frustrated as I was staring to get gray hair and the texture of my hair was changing. I didnt know how to move forward and was losing some confidence in my appearance. Antonella is amazing! I was nervous at our first appointment and embarrassed by my hair, but her easy going attitude and personality put me at ease. At our first appointment we did a minor cut and made a plan on how to get my hair healthy. She listened to my concerns and to what products I was already using. She suggested changes/products (not in a pushy way) that could help. It was like talking with a friend! The next appointment several months later we made some bigger changes in cut and added some "baby light" highlights. I left feeling like a new woman and felt as if I got some of my "old self" back. I finally had enough with my hair. It had been messed up by 4 stylist in a row. I am very picky about my hair and when someone does it right I take good care of them, make plenty of referrals and become a loyal customer until the stylist retires or leaves the area. Back to review. I needed my hair done but I also own a restaurant and therefor have 0 days off. I also have 6 kids so I have 0 free time. I found out that I had last Thursday off on Wednesday around 5pm. I took to FB looking for help. I posted a pic of what we were working with and waited to hear back. A friend from high school recommended his wife Jennie ORiordan. This is a tight not community and we all firmly believe in supporting our classmates so of course I was all in...after I explained my quirks and she didn't laugh at me about them. Most stylist make me feel uncomfortable because I don't know the lingo or maybe their personal style is not mine but they want me to have it. But my biggest problem with stylist are the flakey ones that double book you and then pawn you on to someone else, or they nod their head as you explain what you like and then do their own thing, or better yet they forget about you because they are eating and texting and you get so over processed that you have breakage at a quarter inch, or they turn your hair orange.....its been a long two years. Jennie listens to me, she did exactly what I asked for and my hair is on point. It looks natural. That's all I really want. Joni pays attention to the little details, takes her time but is very efficient, and most of all she is extremely passionate about what she does! I'm indecisive about my hair, so I like the fact that she's willing to make suggestions and help me figure out what will work and both times it turned out beautifully. Absolutely horrific experience! Karly botched my color so bad! I looked like someone dumped hydrogen peroxide in my hair! I ended up with two tones of blonde (warm and cool), unevenness, orangey roots, AND COLOR BLEEDING!! I especially noticed this when I got out into real daylight and out of their low soft lighting in the salon. I immediately texted Karly (which she told me I could do if I had any "problems", hmm why would she say that? I told her how unhappy I was. She responded with a insincere apology that consisted of excuses that made it sound like it was somehow my fault why my hair didn't "lift" AND that she couldn't fit me in her schedule to FIX HER MISTAKE for another 8 days! I told her I was embarrassed to be seen in public and I get this kind of answer?? I went to the salon the very next morning and she wasn't there but "Shannin" was. She was gracious and understanding and saw all the mistakes Karly made. She said she could fix my hair that evening. I made the apt and asked her to leave a msg for the owner to call me who was expected to be in the salon that day..THE OWNER NEVER CALLED ME BACK!!! Shannin did the best she could and stayed after hours (bless her) to tone my hair and get it to being livable. It's still nowhere near what I asked for (not fault of Shannin). As I left paying yet more $ at this salon than I ever planned on, I asked Shannin why the owner never returned my call. She said the owner felt that Shannin had it handled. WHAT? I'm so furious with this owner! So unethical! Customer service 101...one unhappy customer= all the friends she knows! Think about it! We are completely vulnerable and at the mercy of the stylist once we sit in their chair, the least this owner could've done is call me back and pay for my hair to be fixed!!! So disgusted. read more
