(Realized I forgot my review in my drafts! So I'm posting it now!) I usually give a salon multiple chances before writing a negative review--unless something seriously goes wrong. Unfortunately, in this case, it did. I've been here a few times for lashes and once previously for hair, and my first hair appointment was great. The stylist was gentle, communicative, and professional. I loved my hair, was shown products afterward, and happily purchased them. I left feeling taken care of. This second hair appointment was a completely different experience. I was greeted by a young stylist who seemed pleasant and understood what I wanted. However, once she began, I immediately noticed she had extremely long, sharp acrylic nails (about 1.5-2 inches). While I have nothing against acrylics--I wear them myself--there needs to be a limit in a professional setting, especially when working so closely with a client's scalp and hair. She colored my hair without gloves, which already made me uncomfortable. Throughout brushing, coloring, and washing, my hair repeatedly got caught in her lifting acrylics. My hair was yanked out multiple times, and at points it was genuinely painful. Holding a brush seemed difficult for her, and the brushing was rough and uncomfortable. The shampoo experience was by far the worst I've ever had. Normally, that's my favorite part of a salon visit. Instead, due to her nails, she couldn't properly massage or clean my scalp. The shampoo barely reached my roots, yet my hair was pulled the most at the bowl. My scalp was sore for two days afterward, to the point where brushing hurt. I'm a mom of three and a full-time college student, so self-care time is rare. I was really looking forward to relaxing--maybe even reading--but it was hard to focus through the discomfort. On top of that, the stylist seemed mentally checked out, asking me the same questions twice and lacking awareness of the situation. When the service ended, she simply removed my robe and said thanks for coming. No walk-out, no product recommendations. I had planned on purchasing shampoo, conditioner, and heat protectant again, but I left without anything. I still paid for the service and left a tip. After taking a few days to cool off, I felt this needed to be said. This experience was unsanitary, painful, and disappointing. My hair turned out "meh"--the haircut felt rushed, I didn't get the layers I asked for, and highlights alone don't make up for the experience. I truly loved coming here, but after this, it won't be my salon anymore. If you come here for hair services, I strongly recommend choosing a stylist whose nails allow them to work safely, hygienically, and comfortably--preferably ones that can fit inside gloves. read more

I got the best haircut ever in my 55 years today from Jordan. I showed her a picture of what I was thinking and she adjusted it to my needs, since I am parting on the side to grow out my gray. She took her time and gave me a beautiful cut. I usually hate getting my haircut because it never turns out. But I am super happy today and I will be back! The salon is nice too, but Jordan was the highlight of my day. read more

I came in for haircut today 1/27/26 (Tuesday) and I showed the stylist the photo how I want my haircut length to be and so she said it's toward my collarbone length although it doesn't seem to be collarbone length in the photo so I trusted her to cut my hair and the result came out differently it's literally shorter I hate short or shorter hair. I wanted exactly the length how it's in the photo. When the stylist got done with my haircut I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I got up smiled and paid I was stupid to leave a tip. I'm disappointed and upset I want the staff or manager to give me a discount or refund my tip back. I'm never coming back again. Not satisfied at all. read more

I moved to Puyallup a year ago and was on the hunt for a reliable salon with skilled stylists to handle my thick hair and meet my beauty needs. Salon Ish has been a great find! Every time I leave feeling satisfied. I've also haircuts, full highlights, toner, tinsel, countless shampoo/blow-dry sessions, full-face makeup looks, spray tanning, and brow tint, all with excellent results. One thing I really love is the great variety of high-quality hair products they have for sale. It's so convenient to pick up professional products to maintain my hair between visits. The salon also has such a cute, welcoming vibe--it's stylish, modern, and always feels like a treat to visit. Parking has never been an issue either--street parking is usually easy to find, which makes getting in and out a breeze. All the stylists here are great, but the more experienced ones really stand out. They post really cute stuff on their Insta page so it helps me stay updated on their current events and oromot I would definitely recommend this salon and look forward to coming back regularly for more beauty services! read more

Let me preface by saying my review is solely based on my results and NOT the employees, because 99% of them are fantastic! However, out of the 3 lash tint and lifts I've received, only 1 "took." The second time I had to go back twice to have them fixed and this time I didn't even bother to call. When I left the salon 6 days ago my eyelashes looked like they took, within a few hours I knew they had not. Yes they were tinted but the lift was already gone. As of today the tint is gone too. So for $115 dollars, I had a lift for a few hours and darker lashes for a few days. I will continue to bring my daughter here as she loves her hair stylist, I however will not be returning. read more

In January of 2022 I met Rachelle Idler (McGuire) Look her up on Instagram, she's amazing. I was desperate to have decent looking hair. My hair was broken, damaged, stunted growth due to my age (I turned 50 that month) and overall stress. I remember she was so careful with my hair when we first started. She would only do 12" extentions. She wanted to see how MY hair was. The next year, she agreed I could go longer. She was honest and responsible. I trusted her completely. I was able to get the longer extentions the following year (yay me!!!). Rachelle is a magician. She's inspirational, sweet, so smart and especially talented. I feel like a medical mystery. I NEED these extensions to make me feel confident to go out professionally and personally. I'm not the stereotypical client who just wants to embellish length or fullness. I will be forever grateful to have her as my stylist. She is constantly staying on top of her continuing education, the next best thing to offer her clients. I appreciate her professionalism. Very chic salon. I get positive vibes in terms of customer service and professionalism. My stylist was sweet and didn't make the three-hour long session awkward. They all seem to know their craft. The front desk staff were also very sweet. However, I am Asian/Pacific Islander, and I would have loved if I could connect with someone familiar with "Islander hair." It's difficult to treat thicker/nappy hair, and all I felt I received was color treatment and was left at that. After my hair was done, it didn't look as "picturesque" as other hair that was silky and wavy on photos on Instagram. What I do wish Salon Ish would consider is to hire more people of color. They could benefit and expand their client base by implementing diversity and cultural representation. Their services could further expand to treat a more diverse population. Horrible customer service and no loyalty or respect. Payment is required to book and if you're late, sick or need to cancel they keep your money and tell you to rebook even when you have been a loyal customer. Shit happens and if your 1 min shy of a 24 hr notice your getting screwed out of your money. Im telling everyone I know to not do buisness with Salon Ish. There are plenty of local salons that would take your business and be loyal to their customers unlike Salon ish. I found Salon Ish in a Yelp search and I am so glad that I did! I got to the salon for my 3:30pm appointment and I was immediately greeted and led to the bathroom to wash my hands. Everyone had their masks on accordingly. The space was beautifully decorated and very cozy. I felt comfortable immediately. I had a long hair cut with Ashley as my stylist and she was awesome!! Great conversation, beautiful hair cut, and she made me feel super at ease. My hair was very long and the ends were dead and split. She took off a considerable hunk and really listened to what I needed for my somewhat curly hair. Ashley was kind and a good salesperson for the salon products without making me feel obligated to purchase. I will definitely be back to see her soon!! I felt like a million bucks walking out! Cayenne is AMAZING! She did my Dreamville nails and I'm in love with them. Will definitely come back'! I got XL coffin gel X nails with a creative design add on. I just got IBE extensions from Rachelle about 8 weeks ago and I love them! She was recommended to me when I was looking to get extensions. Just went in for my second appointment and was reminded why I go there. Rachelle is seriously the sweetest person. Not only is she extremely talented at IBE extensions, but she's very down to earth and easy to connect with. I've seen other hair stylists apply coloring to hair and watched the end result, and wow! Im not sure if they're blonde specialists but they seem like it. The front staff is very friendly and professional as well. I can't believe the transformation my hair went through. It was AMAZING. *** This review is for Rachelle and I think she just moved to this Salon a week or two ago! :) SIDE NOTE: their Yelp doesn't do them justice, there are 5-6 stylists check their Instagrams, their work is amazing! I was browsing through Instagram for a Seattle hairstylist, I stumbled upon a few but they were either too expensive or they didn't respond to me ( like wow great customer service ). I stumbled upon Rachelle and decided to text her because I loved her work and loved the consistency of her work I saw in her pictures. She responded at 10pm (within 10 minutes of me texting her) I was surprised. We had a quick text hair consultation and luckily she had a spot opening within a week. I was hesitant because Salon Ish was in Puyallup and I'm from Lynnwood, but her price and work was so reasonable I decided to give her a shot. I arrived to my appointment and was immediately greeted. Rachelle was sweet and welcoming! We quickly went over what I wanted one more time (she also estimated this would take 3 hours) and she immediately began my foilyage. She was extremely nice and talkative. I was just super quiet because I was just tired from the drive but still she seemed to keep her positive happy and upbeat ( I loved that ). After she toned my hair and blow dried it, i thought that was it, but she curls it too! I'm sure it was for her Instagram but still! I've been to the salon before and had a great experience, however that wasn't that case this time. I wanted to go red that went darker at the roots to lighter at the ends. I'm already blonde at this point. Gave a reference picture and was really excited. After the color was applied, I mentioned that the transition from my roots to the rest of my hair looked really abrupt. She asked if I meant it doesn't look blended, and I said yes, like there's no transition shade. My roots look really dark and it just goes straight blonde. The stylist said she sees the blend from her angle and that it's fine, and then stopped talking the rest of the appointment. I paid $200 to have my roots dyed dark red and the remainder of my hair looked untouched. - I do love the choice of red on the roots though. It's a pretty color. I messaged her and she left me on read. She did respond over 24 hours later saying I'm sorry I left you on read, but it just left a bad taste in my mouth. read more
