Came through the Emergency Entrance last night. Had exceptional care and had an ER Doctor that took the time to study my case and listen to what I had to say. I was then admitted and I had employee's that cared what they were doing ! Nurses and Doctors that we're dedicated to their profession. I commend them all in these hard times of COVID! God bless them all! They put their safety before ours ! Not only that, the rooms are not stifling and small like some other hospitals I've been in. It's refreshing to be able to have privacy and to be able to have room to move. The bathrooms are amazingly big and roomy! The biggest luxury is having a exceptionally clean room and bathroom, bed and bedding. I've been in a few hospitals and there's no comparisons to this one for cleanliness! I'd definitely recommend this exceptional hospital from employees to layout to food to service to spacious room to the highest patient care! I'm sure there's someone whom may find fault. Not everything is perfect and it will never be but so far as hospitals , this is my favorite for quality in many ways This is my first time as a patient staying over night at the hospital! They are very hospitable and go over and above ! There's a coach that turns into a guest bed if necessary and you May get guest trays for a decent price sent to your room if requested! By the way, The food was excellent! Your able to order breakfast from 6:30 - 7:30 pm at any time of day when you desire and it will be delivered in around 45 minutes after its called in. The menu also has lunch and dinner and specialty foods. I had ordered an cheese , mushroom, onion, pepper omelette with crispy bacon, toast , coffee, cocoa and milk and it was hot, melted and delish! I sent down compliments to the cook who made it! It's not usual to get something like that in a hospital and I so so so appreciated it! Well here's a pic of my Omelet! I went to the emergency room about a month ago because I was having numbness in my hand. I was admitted quickly and was seen by Dr. Rodriguez. Dr. Rodriguez explained what tests I would have and the results of those tests very clearly. Although the emergency room was extremely busy, he was caring, kind and professional. Rose, the nurse assigned to me was also amazing, helpful and professional. These people work in an extremely stressful area of the hospital, that seems to be chronically understaffed. I hope the administration will value these employees. read more

Visit 2 er, shortness of breath. Spent about 30 hours n a designated hall. Nurses were rude couldn't be bothered and no one ever listened to my lungs. Saw a looked about 15 Asian female 2 seconds when I first arrived, apparently she was a Dr. Home now not doing well...terrible care read more

The first time I went to Maine General I was so impressed that I was calling my family and telling them how good the emergency dept is. The next time it wasn't terrible but wasn't as good. And so on and so on. Well what I witnessed today was beyond believe. I understand that emergency depts get busy, but that was ridiculous. There were people waiting 10+ hours and more. How do I know this? I was there that long and there were people (2) that were there before me. 1 of them being an 85 year old man. I watched the waiting room fill up and empty 3 different times. When I left there were 3 people waiting. One of them still being there 85 year old. That was truly unacceptable. I still stand by how well the nursing staff work together. I was impressed. But learning that man there. He almost could have gotten bed sores sitting in that wheelchair all that time. read more

Charlie in the ER showed so much kindness and compassion towards us. I really want to commend him for going above and beyond to make our visit better. He made sure we were comfortable and was really nice to my son. People like him are meant to be in this line of work and we are so grateful. read more

dr. O'Connell is the best rheumatologist I've ever had. He figured out what was wrong with me when so many doctors could not the problem I have is with the staff who answered the phone and ma'am the desk I have never met a more entitled, snobbish group of people who think they are so entitled that they don't have to be polite to you, I thought I was in California for a moment. I had a flashback as well as PTSD. I was told they have never done telehealth visits OK, so what did you do during Covid? Lose money? double standard for sure. I think the lady that answered the phone and talk to me should be fired or she really should think about the field that she's in. She is not a peoples person. read more

They called us to threaten us with collections over a 12 day old bill that had been paid two days prior. Their online payment system is so bad we had to check it twice to make sure it wasn't a phishing site. If you have options, go elsewhere. read more

I had a terrible experience at mgs with dr. Leandra Jelinek & her reception very unprofessional and seemed disinterested , lacked courtesy during my visit Dr jelinek expressed to me that her office personal and herself were laughing and thought it was cute how small my hernia is , as well as laughed when i told her that i eat pb & fluff sandwiches... really ? ? ? ? I struggle everyday.... I find it to be no joking matter... The doctor didn't hardly discuss any of my current medical conditions , nor do I think she even looked at my chart before walking into the room, unknown to my situation. . . Instead of addressing all my concerns during the visit, it seemed to me all she cared about is me quiting ' smoking cigarettes ' & that alone would make all of my problems go away .... I can assure you my hernia or any of my medical diagnosis atm have nothing to do with smoking cigarettes therefore I left feeling confused & upset instead of getting the care that I was referred to her office for! read more

MOTHERS BEWARE: Joel Kase is one nasty ER doctor. Went here to drop off a lab sample ordered by our doctor. The Lab was closed so the technician said they would meet me in the ED to get the sample with the lab order. Protocol was the sample had to be back at the lab within 1 hour of collection. I had my children with me. When I got there, the Lab Technician was waiting for us and took the sample, but then the Registration Lady came out and stopped it and said we had to go through the ED for the ED doctor Joel Kase had to order it to the Lab. We were there before 9 pm to just drop off the sample. They forced us to go through the ED for billable hours. Joel Kase then made a report to Child Protective Services saying; "he had a concern I was in the ED with my children late at night". I am single mom, I wasn't going to leave my children home alone and we were their just to drop the sample off. I reported him to the Director and got a call back from Customer Services saying he wanted me to know he didn't have a problem, but was told to make a report on me. ??????? No danger, no imminent danger, no child abuse at all, Yet he tried to have my children taken from me. read more

Went to the emergency room last night at 7pm and left after an hour. No one was screened for COVID when entering. The place was filled with no allowance for 6 feet between seating. People around me were complaining that they had been there for over 6 hours with no updates and rude staff when asked for information. We hadn't even been triaged after an hour . My daughter is terminal and too uncomfortable to sit any longer so we left. read more

My sister recently underwent orthopedic surgery and it was overall a good experience. The nurses and therapist were all very quick to respond to her needs, the hospital was very clean, so many places to sit and so many bathrooms! The patient rooms are big, with large windows and HUGE bathrooms. All of the staff was excellent, they truly cared about their patients and he patient to staff ratio was appropriate as the wait for assistance was minimal. This hospital is so on top of it that if you haven't order your meal a representative from Guest services calls to remind you. The 4 stars is because the patient food is terrible. It arrives quickly and hot but of the 6 days my sister was there the only thing that came up that she could eat was the cookies. Luckily, the cafeteria had a huge selection and everything there was delicious. If you have to spend time in a hospital this is a good one. read more

The door greeters was disrespectful and was mad at us for some reason told us to get out of the hospital we where there for our son surgery and his dad was there and the door greeters said where your appointment and what are you doing here who has the appointment we said we are here for our son surgery and he said only one person and you have to get out now ,leave now nice hospital employee!!!!!! And you can't go to the hospital cafeteria and flowed us to the door and I said that this rule should be posted on the door !!! read more

Our first grandchild was born here today. It started as a home Birth with a wonderful mid-wife But complications required relocation to the mid-wifery birthing center at the hospital. The mid-wife at the center, Cathy, worked with my daughter her mid-wife team beautifully. The whole team in the birthing center was excellent. The hospital is only about 2 years old and everything is up to date and welcoming. read more

We were on vacation from Minnesota when my mom fell and broke her hip. What a disaster! But we were so, so impressed by the staff, how friendly and competent they were. The place was really bright and clean, spotless everywhere. My mom got great care by the nurses and The doctors were incredibly helpful and answered all of our questions and willingly gave their advice and suggestions on her care and they listened to us too. Dr. Jose Ramirez and Dr. Isaac were wonderful, talented doctors. This is an awesome place. We were so fortunate that we were close by and that she was taken here. read more

I've gone to this hospital even when it was Kennebec Valley medical Center. Nothing has changed in 35 years in the emergency room. Last night I got there at 7pm. I went there for shortness of breath and was laboring to breathe. I was ever so glad to be taken in for an Ekg within fifteen minutes. But the old KVMC/MGMC ER reputation came back. Four hors later I was taken for x-rays. I was told a half hour to an hour before getting the results. At 12:50 I gave an ultimatum. I get my results in 15 min. or I'm walking out. I peaced out at 1:05. Seven hours in the emergency room is totally inexcusable. As I was being taken for my x-ray I passed a room with four nurses sitting at a table nonchalantly talking while people in the waiting room sit and wait & wait &wait & wait.Piss poor care at its finest. read more

Longest wait ever for an emergency room. Came in at 2130, got vitals at 2230, blood work at 0100, and still waiting now at 0200. Even noticed someone scratched, "7 hours" into the table in the waiting area. Worst ER, go somewhere else. read more

This place is the Walmart of hospitals! Sure they're a newer facility with state if the art technology, but they have no staff to operate the place. Came in with a bloddy nose that wont clot for 3 hrs Now sitting in the mainneaiting room bleeding for over an hour... guess blood borne issues are not their concern :/ read more

CNA's and nurses great. Doctor and social worker worst ever. Told my family member lies about bed availability at a skilled rehab, then would medication for aggression. Aggression they caused. Then POA told them to stop giving a certain medication and they went and did it anyways. Numerous patient rights violations from the doctor and social worker. I have never been so appalled. read more

THE worst hospital I have ever been to. I had been having multiple seizures for the better part of an hour. I needed t be seen immediately. I went to the Emergency dept. in hopes of receivng immediate treatment for a, you know, emergency. Not only did I come in at 12:00 and then wait for 3 and a half hours to be seen, and referred to a different doctor, but there were and are people sitting here who have been here for 5 hours waiting to be seen. As I type this, sitting in the waitin room for my ride, the poor woman who was here before me just got taken into a room. There is another woman who should have rightfully been seen before me. I am not only disgusted at the amount of time these people had to wait with no updates, and no communication (except for the receptionist lying to the patient: "you'll be called next I promise" and then proceeding to call 3 other people, then me, and for me to greet her again when I was discharged) But I am so disappointed in the entirety of the hospital. You are an emergency department, Maine General. I had been havin full on seizures for 3 and a half fucking hours so you could hand me a piece of paper saying the legal equivalent "go somewhere else" And I understand beig understaffed, or discord within a company, but not whatever the hell makes a company take this long to treat people with EMERGENCY MEDICAL NEEDS. Your first job as a medical profession is to treat patients in need. The DMV is faster than this bullshit. I saw so many nurses just standing. And I also saw so many patients, including a sick 1 year old await treatmen for an unusually large amount of time. Spend the extra gas money to go to CMMC or Maine Med. Never go here. read more

I went into the emergency room at 9:30 with severe stomach pains, got vitals at 10:30, and blood work at 1:00. Sat in the waiting room for 5.5 hours in excruciating pain, finally got into a room at 3 am. Had a CT Scan and found out I had appendicitis and had to have an emergency appendectomy. The surgical team was amazing and so caring, but as for the ER, don't waste your time like I did. If you think something is seriously wrong, go somewhere else. read more

I was a patient at MGMC Early morning Dec 6th, from the time the rescue picked me up until i arrived in the ER my care was out of this world. Once in the ER the nurses Dr Smith and everyone else that took care of me was outstanding ! I was seen too pronto and sent for ct scan blood work anything else that needed to be done. I was admitted to 2nd floor West wing and from the minute i was taken to my room the care, compassion and interest in my feelings were again outstanding !! I worked at MMC and have been a patient as well and must say i have never received the care and compassion as i did at Augusta General ! I was amazed as it wasn't just the nurses, cna's and doctors it was everyone ! I mean everyone, housekeeping kitchen ,transport aides and the list goes on! I had a stress test i believe it was Tracy, Jeff and Brian , sorry i am horrible with names , they were the greatest !I didn't plan on using names as i didn't want to leave anyone out.Like i have said it was everyone that had anything to do with my outstanding care ! Thank You from the bottom of my heart ! Keep up the great work and know that each and everyone of you can be proud of what ever job you have at the hospital ! There was a specific person who works at the front desk. This man in the plaid button-down shirt was very rude to my cousin and I. We only had quarters on us at the time, and we were in the waiting room. We were starving. Unfortunately, the vending machine wouldn't accept quarters. There was a door nearby that said something along the lines of 'This door is locked during certain hours. Please ask if you would like it to be opened.' We were desperate for food, so we walked up to the front desk and asked the man (with a particularly punch-able face) if he could unlock the door. (I added a 'please'.) He literally said (word for word) "no". This was rude and inconsiderate. (Also, the vending machine should've worked in the first place.) Other than this experience, the hospital is great. They get you into a room relatively quickly (normally) and work efficiently, in my experience. read more
