While I'm sorry to hear that Inland is closing, no one will miss the substandard care offered at their ER.

At or around 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday October 1st, 2024 I came into the ER at the location in…read moreWaterville, ME with my 8-year-old daughter. She described to the triage nurse her pain to be greater than a 10 out of 10. We were seen quickly and triaged quickly, then left in the exam room, unattended without a single check-in, for no less than 45 minutes in total. At this point we still had not seen a doctor at all, only a triage nurse. After 20 minutes since the nurse left us alone behind closed doors, I opened the door that went to the nurses station and asked the group of nurses standing around if we could be checked on. We were told that we would seen soon and to be patient by a woman beind the desk. Another 20 minutes later, with still no check in, I opened the door again and asked for help; all the while my daughter was screaming and wailing behind me (she had been hysterical in pain for the entirety of the 45+ minute wait for help). A tall and brawny lady spoke up and told me that I was being too persistent by asking this and that I had to wait it out; I later found out she was the ER night supervisor, named Jen Annette. Remember, this is the second time in 40 minutes (once every 20) that I left the room in pursuit of assistance. This interaction continued back and forth for another couple quick rounds until I asked her if the camera is above me worked, and advised that I would be requesting the footage pulled and a review of this patient treatment be completed. 5 minutes or less after this altercation, which occurred in front of a large group of medical staff at the nurses station, we were finally seen post-triage, and my daughter offer treatment for her ear problem. They gave her a dose of pain meds, and antibiotics, and called a script in to CVS for more antibiotics. Without waiting for discharge paperwork, but after being medicated and officially treated for the issue, I readied my daughter to exit and I left the building for my truck to head home. My daughter fell asleep on the 15 minute ride home and I tucked her into bed for the night immediately as soon as we got home. About 20 minutes later, I received a loud knock on the door. I answered it to find a police officer asking for me. He told me that he received a phone call from Jen at Inland Hospital in Waterville requesting a wellness check for my kid because we refused medication while at the hospital. I assured the officer that his information was false and in fact we did accept medication and a prescription to follow up. Confusedly, the police officer aologized for being a nuisance so late in the evening (10:30) and exited my home. Not only am I concerned for the harassing nature of the behavior from Jen on October 1st, but I am highly concerned that my personal information is accessible by monsters like Jen and that they have the ability to execute erroneous and dangerous revenge type of actions to further their own personal agendas. It's concerning how easily Jen was able to find my phone number and address and use it to place a call to the police, lie to the police about what happened at the hospital, all in an effort to send police out to my house. This type of behavior is not normal, and not stable from a mental standpoint. If Inland hospital is going to continue to offer services to the general public, then we should be able to expect that the hiring practices and employee retainment efforts are in line with general responsibilities for the safety of our small town population. I should not be concerned about my information leaking to someone like Jen who is untrustworthy and vengeful. I did speak with a lady named Shari from the patient experience department of Inland hospital, located in Brewer, earlier today. She took my complaint and advised of the follow-up steps I should expect. As I stated to her, I will be pursuing follow up, accountability, and responsibility for Jen Annette's behavior as described in this complaint, from every possible professional and legal angle. This includes your patient experience department as I am emailing now and I talked to earlier today, as well as any legal and justifiable actions that my lawyer advises, the nursing board, and my civic duty to ensure the public is aware of my experience and can make a more sound judgmental decision on where to seek medical are in addition to any others I maybe made privy to or advise to pursue along the way. In other words, I plan to push this issue every possible way and in every possible direction and as long as I possibly can until I feel justice has been served to Jen Annette, the night staff of the ER at Inland hospital, and Inland hospital as a medical institution.
