They discovered that my woodstove inserted into the fireplace had a back plate attachment that made it impossible to get to the stovepipe connection going up the chimney. They pulled out the woodstove, removed the back plate and performed a thorough cleaning. David said that the back plate was not needed, given the way the woodstove was installed, and so we left it off to simplify future cleanings. David and his assistant were extremely professional and efficient. Not a speck of ash was left behind. I highly recommend Baker Chimney!

But, after years of doing business with them, they apparently changed their policy, without notifying us, to take the cost of the first 100 gallons of oil the day before delivery to make sure our card was valid. We saw the withdrawal and assumed we had oil, but when we checked, we barely had 1/4 tank. The day they took the money, our driveway was sanded. The next day when they decided we were worthy of an oil delivery, they declined to come down our driveway because they deemed it dangerous. This was on Friday . They "tried" again today and again decided it was too slippery. We have had our, admittedly, long driveway sanded 3 times in 4 days. We have had our trash guy, UPS guy, a bunch of cars for a party and others here with zero problems. So, I still have no oil and they still have our money. We told them to return our money and will NEVER again do business with Deer Pond Fuel.

I have lived in my house for ten years. I always assumed that because I was getting an annual furnace tuneup and cleaning that that was enough. Turns out I was wrong! Boiler technicians aren't chimney experts and things do build up over time. I contacted Dana at Larabee Chimney Services--he had actually helped install my then-new chimney liner ten years ago along with Pickett's which is how I was referred to Dana. (I was very happy with Pickett's.) He confirmed our appointment the night before and then, per my request, called when he was on his way. He and his helper inspected my chimney and liner. Turns out it didn't need a cleaning. I had my checkbook ready and asked how much? NO CHARGE! As a homeowner I really value contractors who are honest, experienced, professional, personable and charge a fair price, and that defines Dana! We are considering getting a wood stove and will definitely pick Larabee to install the new liner if we end up getting one!
