I have been a customer for many years, but unfortunately their customer service has consistently been disappointing. I recently ordered 170 gallons of oil, and their online portal quoted me $471.24 (which works out to about $2.77 per gallon). That seemed unusually low compared to the local average of $2.99-$3.09, but since their system confirmed it, I placed the order. When they delivered, they were only able to fill 134.8 gallons, but instead of honoring the quoted rate, they charged me $3.09 per gallon -- over $424. This was a huge discrepancy compared to what I should have paid based on their own quote (about $373). When I questioned it, I was repeatedly told the system was wrong and was essentially dismissed. Even a manager implied I was "confused," rather than acknowledging that their online pricing system gave inaccurate information. Mistakes and glitches can happen, but the way a company handles them matters. A respectful resolution -- even honoring the day's posted price of $2.99 -- would have gone a long way. Instead, I was told my confirmation screenshot "meant nothing" and that they would not stand behind their online system. Because of this, I can't recommend ordering from them. They were always able to accommodate us within a few days of placing an order, you could reach them easily on the phone with any issues/concerns.... since being acquired by Superior Propane, they have become the WORST! They used to be great. I have a small oil tank that would run out at times when I did not expect it. They were always able to accommodate me within a few days or a week at the most. It was easy to reach them and they cared. Since being acquired by Superior Propane, they have become the WORST. I started with them in 2012 and as of today, they have lost my business permanently. Cash energy came to deliver oil, splashed oil all over my house siding without cleaning it up, and then never returned my multiple calls to discuss it with me despite talking to a person who passed the buck to a "manager" to return my calls, and I can't get the siding clean. I tried to order some oil through the brewer office. When I got there, there was a note on the door saying they weren't taking anymore walking. They office is closed. You have to call the Scarborough office. I called you have to give 2 weeks notice that you need oil and then the delivery is seven days out. Ridiculous. Rating is a zero!!!! Yesterday..... Hubby asked if I could call CASH ENERGY to order oil. We have ordered from them for years..... lately hubby has called them more than I have. Well beware, they will not let ANYONE else in the household order oil, except for the last person who ordered the oil, not even the spouse, who has called MANY times before,.....WHAT???!!!! This is the first we hear of this..... I explained that Hubby works long hours most of the time, sometimes beyond closing time. No resolution offered...... I concur with the other bad reviews here; customer service is clearly not their strong suit. I've been using Cash Energy since 2013, a total of almost 10 years, with 6 of those years being in the present location. I had an issue a couple years ago where they wouldn't deliver (in the summer) because they "couldn't find the fill pipe." Mind you, they had been delivering here for several years by that point, and it's the summer, so that doesn't make sense. I called to check into it and the driver apparently "couldn't find a clear path" to the fill pipe. Again, they've been delivering oil here for several years already prior, and there is a very clear path. With zero obstacles (my yard is very tidy). Very confused as to why they kept pushing me on it, but I eventually agreed to reschedule (they couldn't deliver until like 2 weeks later, ugh). Then, another time they said the snow wasn't cleared (another excuse which is also untrue, we always clear the snow if we're expecting a delivery). Again, ended up waiting a couple weeks for redelivery, this time in the winter, and almost ran dry. Today though, that was the cherry on top of the cake. I had an appointment, and was about to leave when the truck pulled up. I quickly threw on my boots and opened the garage door to see that the driver had blocked my entire driveway with his truck. There was maybe 4 feet he didn't block, certainly not enough for me to squeeze my car through. So I politely asked him (before he even starts the fill, hadn't even taken the hose down yet) if he could please move a little further up so that I could leave. His response: "you've gotta be f**king kidding me!" Stunned, I said very matter of factly "no, I am not. I have an appointment and need to leave." He then replied with more cursing and throwing his hands in the air, kind of like a temper tantrum, and yelled at me "dude! You're gonna make me turn the f**ing truck off, what the f**k?!" I again calmly stated that he is not allowed to block me in, I have somewhere that I need to be. Begrudgingly he gets back in the truck and legit leaves. Didn't just move it up a few feet like I had politely asked. No, he legit just leaves completely. That's the last straw. That $539 for 100 gallons of oil will be the last money you ever receive from me, Cash Energy. I'm taking my hard-earned money elsewhere, where my patronage will be appreciated and I won't be verbally attacked for a simple request. Do better please. read more

I've been a loyal customer almost 9 years. My recent experience is horrendous involving a credit for filling my tank. In September they offered a $30 credit for a fill up. It was never posted to my account when ordering fuel in December contacted customer service was told they would e mail their supervisor and it would be credited to my account! However when ordering fuel this week now February still not resolved! I contacted customer service again was told there is only one person who can issue the credit the same woman they e mailed in December was sent another one and I was put through to her voice mail left message no response! Evidently customer SERVICE is not part of their DNA! Looking for fuel look elsewhere! read more

if I could give zero stars I would. ordered and paid for a fill up, almost a week later no delivery and almost empty so I called to see when they would deliver. they said it would be delivered the next day. next day comes, they don't show, by this time I am really almost empty so I call again around 3 to make sure they were coming. keep in mind they have $850 of mine and told me they were delivering that day. I call again, they aren't going to deliver to me because they had told us multiple times there wasn't a path (NOT TRUE at all, ONE time the guy went to the wrong side of the house and thought the fill spout was under the porch that had lawn bags under it... it's not, it's on the other side of the house and they have never had a problem with it before). So they lied and said they would deliver the next day, didn't, never called, never communicated at all that there was even an issue, and we almost ran out of oil because they took forever to tell me this. 1/17/18, If I could give less than 1 star I would. This company has yet to refund my bank account for a purchase that was cancelled on December 27, 2017. An online order placed on 12/26 was cancelled at 8am on 12/27/17. On 12/28/17 the money was taken from my account. I immediately called the office and was told that it would refund automatically in a couple of days. I have been told by 3 different people in their office that it will be refunded. The last person there I spoke with told me that it takes 7-10 business days. She even "checked" and said that it had been processed. Today is day 14 (credit for holiday) Still no money! I recommend taking your business elsewhere, terrible customer service. I know all the oil companies have been busy the last few weeks but that is no excuse to steal from people. read more

If I could give this business a zero star I would. TERRIBLE customer service. Strongly recommend NOT using the ONLINE ordering system. I used my card to order oil delivery; next day had fraudulent charge on card. Was concerned that the program did not require me to LOG OFF. Talked to "Operations manager" Rob to get a little info about the security of the system and charge process and before I could ask my question he cut me off and told me "dispute it with your bank or PayPal, not my problem." Maybe you should have a Ops Manager that listens to your customers first and foremost and maybe it would be good business to take a look at your online ordering system because maybe this is your problem. I've been a customer of Cash Energy for years. Today they wanted to charge me an extra $25.00 delivery due to the delivery person not seeing the check I left taped to the side door. I spoke with the manager and he still wanted to charge me the extra fee even though I had the payment ready for them. I told him I will NEVER call them again and they had just lost a loyal customer. I have never had any problems with Cash Energy, and have used them for 15 years. A couple of years ago, there was a driver shortage, and ALL oil companies had issues. I have not had an issue after that. When I overpaid on an order online, I got a credit toward my next order. I find ordering online easy and problem free. read more

Have been a customer for years and called Monday January 8th and was told I could not get a delivery until the 19th!! I have never had to wait for more than a couple of days at the most. When I told the representative that I only had a quarter of a tank left she could not have been more dismissive and unresponsive. This clearly was not her problem. This is the last time that I use Cash Energy. I called to see when and if my delivery would be made today, but was told no, as there was a snow bank in the way. I would need to reschedule. I asked if they could come back today or tomorrow, but was told Monday. First of all, nowhere on their website does it say there must be a precise path. Secondly, I am sorry that we had eight inches of snow last night and the plow trucks covered your path. I have no control over that. The worst customer service I have every experienced. I would also give less then 1 star if I could. This company put 100 gallons of oil as requested in my tank in August and I had paid with a credit card. Little to my knowledge they put an additional 100 gallons in a day later due to a new system "glitch". When I called yesterday to fill out tank, the company told me I had an outstanding balance. Never was I invoiced for this nor did I request this delivery. The office told me it was my problem and still had to pay for this before they would deliver more oil. I will never do business with this company EVERY again. This is simple 101 customer service. Not once did any representative apologize, not even the manager. read more

My neighbor happened to watch him and saw what he did. We called Cash Energy but they said "out driver swears he checked". Told us we had to wait over a week for another delivery. I have been a customer with Cash Energy for 10+ years and always had on time delivery with a pre payed check. This week I called and ordered on Wednesday, called back Friday AM to confirm and was told they were out for delivery and on the way. End of day Friday no Oil. Called first thing Saturday AM and was told they have no record and told I was lying. The best Eric at Cash Energy said he could do was give me the on call price or deliver on Monday. Congradulatons Cash Energy you won the award of "worst customer service of the year". I guess they do not want my $600. read more

Used the Bangor, ME location a couple of times. First time went OK and so did the second. The third time they were a no show. It had snowed the night before. I asked my plow guy to move me to the head of his list which he did. My driveway was cleared by 0730. Imagine my surprise when I get home and still no delivery. The first person I talked to couldn't tell me why there was no delivery made. She had to have the 24 hour on call person call me back. He told me that the driveway was "unplowed and inaccessible". I promptly told him that UPS and USPS had no issues getting down the driveway that day. He also claimed that they called and left a message. There was no message on any of the 3 cellphones in this house or on the home phone. They came back the next day. Our fourth scheduled delivery never happened. Once again I came home to find no oil and the check still taped to the door. I called the Hampden Office. The lady told me that it was because it was an out of state check and that the current address had been handwritten in. I told her that we used the same checks for the last three deliveries and asked why is this a problem all of the sudden. She tried to blame it on the driver that we had come to our house today. Hmmm....drivers get to make up company policy. Talk about empowerment. She then put me on the phone with Ralph. I explained to him the situation and he said "That's right. We don't take out of state checks. You were told about this." When I asked who told me, he just kept saying that we were informed. He said that we could put a label (had to tell him he meant a return address label) over the old address with the new address and that would be acceptable. Again when pressed about who supposedly told us, he said "Did you check your phone messages? They called you." Again...no voicemail on any of our cellphones or home phone. I could see I wasn't getting anywhere so I politely hung up. I then called back to make sure that they didn't reschedule us because their services are no longer needed at my house. I'll purchase my oil from a more reputable source from now on. read more

I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years...but I could not be more disappointed in this company right now. I requested an oil delivery for yesterday (a Wednesday) and received a call that morning alerting me that the driver refused to deliver because there was ice covering an inclined area of my driveway that leads up to my garage. Keep in mind my wife and I drive in and out of this area every day without issue. I didn't bother arguing that he could have easily just parked in a different (flat) section and walked the hose a very short distance up to my house. Instead, I promised to do what I could to get rid of the ice. Because I am low on oil, I asked if they would promise to return as soon as I indicated the ice was taken care of. She confirmed "absolutely - just give us a call and we'll come right back". Well, I just called to request the delivery and was told they couldn't come until Monday. When I asked if there was any way they could fit me in Friday, I was told, "not without a $50 fee". Now will be taking my business to someone else....lousy customer service would be an understatement. read more

I use Cash Energy for over 10 years but today they have lost me as a customer because their lazy worker didn't want to do his job correctly. He had forgotten that I ordered a full tank, and he had to go back to fill the tank. He was angry and kicked the gate, a bucket of water, grumbling and cursing. He also grumbled about our dog. But the dog was inside the house and the door was closed. When I called the manager of Cash Energy, the manager said that we have a not flat walkway and it was difficult to walk for his employee. Really? It's his job to come close to the house and fill the tank. Should I to do it for him? I complained that the employee was rude but manader also was rude and told me to look for another company. I have never had experience with the business manager, who says to his long time customer: Go, look for another company. Of course, I'll find another company and I will pay them my money. And I'll not recommend my friends, relatives, neighbors and coworkers such a bad company with such disgusting and stupid customer service. read more

At this point I don't even want to give them a full star. We are in the middle of a cold snap with sub-zero temperatures, the Governor has declared an order to ensure Mainers are receiving their oil delivery without delay. I ordered oil 5 days ago and was promised a delivery yesterday. I am dangerously low and have made at least 8 trips to the gas station to fill cans of diesel to get me through. I called 4 days ago to see if they could deliver early than what was scheduled because I was running out. I was told no, despite the order signed by the Governor. I then began to experience furnace problems which caused me to burn oil faster. I have called their answering service, they promised that if I was scheduled for a delivery I would get it. The hours passed and no delivery, I called back and could no longer get the answering service. I woke up this morning to a cold house. This is after a few nights ago I had to wake my children up in the middle of the night because the house was too cold and not safe to sleep in. I drove around all night in my car to keep them warm. Today when I called I got the answering service and was told they wouldn't call back until the next business day which at this point, being a holiday weekend, is three days away. Three more days of filling my tank with trips to the gas station in sub-zero temperatures. read more
