Bring your bug spray... the skeeters are legit. Spent WAY too much time in the Boatsman Bar but loved every second of it. All the staff is super nice, and fun as hell. Terrible with names but the Chef is a riot, and a phenomenal cook. Greg the Rafting manager is great people (apologize for the 4 hours I talked to you about rafting, probably repeating every question haha) and his team makes the river is a legendary experience. We had Jake has a guide on the mighty West Branch Penobscot and loved every exhilarating second. Though I am sure Jake would have preferred we paddled a little harder when he asked... All in All recommend the hell out of this place. For every bad experience you may have at a small establishment, you get rewarded with a really great one. This is one of those places. Skydiving with Cleve and Owen is always guaranteed to be a good time, but the white water rafting is where the true fun really is. They don't provide much in the sense of amenities, but you don't need it. Private camp sites, full bar, volleyball pit, and nightly bonfires provide fun when not participating in activities. You are guaranteed to find people to stay up late with and drink. I've been twice already and can't wait to book it for a third trip.

This was my very first rafting. The paradox is that I was in this place 5 years ago, but I could…read morenot get on the boat because of the weather. Exactly 5 years later, I come here, to the same place, with almost the same group of friends, and the next 6-7 hours pass incredibly. I want to mention one person without whom this trip would not have been so incredible - Sean. I know that everyone says this about their guide, but they just didn't raft with Sean. Then they wouldn't say that. I will not tell you how the briefing went, how we rode the bus, etc. Nothing was interesting about it (but the instruction is essential and clear). After getting into the boat and learning all the commands (it took about 5 minutes), we were immediately thrown onto the rapids of the 5th level. These were unforgettable emotions at the very beginning of our trip. I think this is what sparked us, and we wanted more "fire and flame." In general, we sailed the first part without losses. Then there was lunch. Very tasty! The steak and rice were free! The second part was more relaxed, except for a few thresholds. On one of them, we were thrown so hard that two people and a GUIDE!!!! flew out of the boat. The rescue mission was quite successful, and in a minute, everyone was already in the boat. In general, emotions overwhelm me so much that I was ready to repeat everything immediately the next day. Unfortunately, we had to drive back to Boston. But I promise we will come back to you next year. Sean, get ready. Next time we definitely need to turn the boat over. Group Damage Report: 5 Overboard passengers…read more1 Lost Rainbow flip flop 4+ Bumped heads 1 Dislocated thumb 7 Whitewater rafters who were disappointed that it was over \O/ \O/ Save me! _____/_\______/_\______ _ / { } ' ###\\^^^~~~\O/~~~\O/~~~~~~\O/~~~~~~~\O/~~\O/~~~ We had a super fun guide named James who purposely tipped us out of the raft on the first fall. I was only annoyed because I lost one of my Rainbows and subsequently walked around sans one shoe the rest of the day. Sigh. I liked his style of teaching, which was more of a "Let's try it and learn along the way" rather than "Practice this, practice that." In the shadow of Mt. Katahdin, we drifted down the Penobscot River on nothing more than a giant balloon. The trip started off with class 2 and 3 rapids on the lower portion of the Penobscot River. It was complete with a stop by a huge natural water slide and more rapids before lunch. There's a couple hours of drifting and really taking in the beauty of wild Maine (which was a welcome and green relief from concrete NYC), so if you know all of your raft-mates, it's slightly more pleasant. We played games and riddles for a large portion of the drifting time. Poor James got stuck with playing our games too. A BBQ lunch is provided by Penobscot Adventures and it included all-you-can-eat steak or chicken or veggie burgers, pasta salad, an AMAZING rice dish that I would gladly consume again, bread rolls, cookies, sugary lemonade, and of course, water. After lunch, we piled back onto the buses for the best part of the whitewater rafting trip - the class 5 rapids. With names like Turkey Shooter, the Exterminator, and the Cribworks, can you really go wrong? The class 5 rapids were infinitely more fun than class 3 and 4. From now on, it's 5 all the way, baby! I wonder if I can convince my friends to make this an annual trip....

Bill (our incredibly skilled and confidence building river guide) and Clayton (our cook/meteorologist/sherpa/personal 'MacGyver') took our family of self proclaimed 'condo campers' out of our comfort zone and we had a blast! Although we know they do this river stuff every week, it felt like we were their only ones in such a genuine way. It was awesome. They were so easy and friendly and knowledgeable and skilled and calm even in the most serious times. Normally I am nervous with 'dangerous' stuff (I struggle with the kiddie coaster at the amusement park...I'm pitiful) but had every confidence in Bill on the big water day...especially after our family spent the whole day before with him. In addition, EVERY single person we encountered with Three Rivers was patient, friendly, cool (like gnarly cool), and joyful in every accommodation they made for us. Patty greeted and helped us out when we checked in on day one. When we saw her two days later and got to spend part of the day with her on the river it was like meeting up with an old friend she's so cheerful! Our only regret for the whole trip was I sadly did not think to get a real picture of our family together with Bill and Clayton at dinner (an awesome steak dinner with a pineapple upside down cake cooked over a campfire!)...we loved these guys. With a genuine heart, thanks so much to Bill, Clayton and everyone at Three Rivers for allowing our family this extraordinary experience! We can't wait to get back to Maine and the big water.

We rented the King Pine log cabin for a birthday party. It sleeps 14+! I do have pictures that I will share but the beds aren't made because we were leaving & housekeeping does all of that. We all went to breakfast at their restaurant. Delicious & huge portions. Reasonably priced as well. There's a large hot tub, game room, swimming pool & pool table. Nice cozy couches in this area as well. The staff were some of the nicest people I have ever met. This is an all season place. It is definitely worth the trip!

It's only 10 minutes from the Park gate. The sites were spacious and well taken care of, each with a picnic table and fire ring. Almost all are close to the water -- perfect for waking up with the loons! Outhouses were clean and the staff was chill. At the main lodge you can grab a beer, hang out in the indoor/outdoor communal spaces, or go for a paddle on the lake. I'll definitely consider staying here for my next trip!

The first day was the full river trip and the second day was the ultimate on the Kennebec River. Both days were excellent!! It was my and my 16 year old year's first time white water rafting. We absolutely loved it!! We had a big group, 15 people the first day, 19 the second with a large range of ages 6-65 years and mixed of experienced and non experienced. We had the same guides both days-Jackie and Steve. Not only were they great guides but they are beautiful people! Everyone in our group had a wonderful time and we spent all night reminiscing.
