There is a wonderful variety of items to purchase with a healthy balance of produce and local goods. You can find seasonal vegetables, fruit, honey, bread, pastries, meats, seafood and gourmet spreads. Occasionally there is a vendor with unique goods like jewelry and cutting boards. There's even a knife sharpening station! As for the prices, I feel that they are completely in line with what you would pay for locally-grown produce. You can't expect to find the same prices on tomatoes as you would at Super Stop n' Shop, simply because it takes more energy and resources to grow locally and without chemical trickery. I don't know about you, but I'd rather pay a few more cents for a homegrown, grown-in-the-sun tomato than an overgrown tomato that tastes like a water balloon. Pet owners, make sure you bring someone to watch your dog while you shop. Because this is a place that sells food, bringing your pet near the tents is not permitted. (I wish there was a doggy drop-off area to help with this!)

I've purchased hand-made jewelry and handbags as well as CD's from home-town musicians. Speaking of musicians, there's always someone playing music, which entertains everyone. There are usually toddlers dancing to the tunes. My suggestion would be to offer more ready-to-eat meals. I would like to be able to grab that day's lunch and bring it home to serve.

Chase Hill Farms had some really nice looking pork, and their sausages and cheeses were really nice too. Meadowfed lamb also sells chicken! Red Fire Farm had really delicious carrots. Between these "staples" and the array of cheeses, desserts, and pastas, I walk out with almost $100 worth of yummy local foodstuffs each visit. It's a fun thing to do on a Saturday morning/afternoon despite the decent crowd of shoppers.

I usually come for the little walk around the farm to see what's growing, the u-pick flower garden, to swing on the swing set, and to see if any farm animals are around. There's a parking lot and picnic tables scattered around. Pricing is reasonable, u-pick is about $15, they used to charge by flower stem. They also host events and have activities for kids. Honestly, Weston is more of a suburb so it's a nice surprise for people when I tell them that there is actually more to see than large homes!

We watched the sheep get razed and there was another sheep there who was making noises and the young students were copying the nosies that the sheep were making and the staff kept yelling at them. They are young students who weren't being loud they were enjoying the time... the staff should be more patience's with students. We paid to go there to look at animals and a wool class. Over priced.

Belkin / Lookout Farm is a lovely destination with lots of charm, especially for seasonal visits and orchard-based activities. If you're going primarily for the cider or food, temper expectations. Competition drive down prices and adds variety (even with goods that might be the same basic food, there are differences from farm to farm), which brings more people. I want choice! At least one of the two farms represented is actually down the road and has it's own shop with more variety anyway. There is no reason to bother going to this farmer's market.

I won't drive from the city to come here, and if Dawn makes me go again, I will slap her. Smarten up and get some more farmers in! Variety is the spice of life.
