My experience at this barn was beyond disappointing. I had scheduled a trail ride for my fiance and me - as part of a full day of fun in Leesburg. I allotted plenty of time based on how long the trail ride was supposed to be. When we arrived, Kenny was nowhere to be found. We waited FORTY-FIVE MINUTES. We tried to kill time, wandering around the barn. I was appalled at the state of it - the interior and all the gear seemed extremely shabby, neglected and dirty. The horses were moderately cared for, but nowhere near as well as I've seen at other stables nearby. When they told us to choose a riding helmet, I wanted to die as I attempted to sift through the wall of spiderwebs... (see picture). When Kenny finally arrived, he gave a lame excuse that no one called to tell him we'd arrived; this in spite of the fact that we had a scheduled appointment time and several attempts to reach him - by both the staff and me - went straight to voicemail. The ride itself was fine; I appreciated going with just my fiance and Kenny as our guide. He did try to tailor the ride somewhat to our ability level, but for the price, and how much his lateness pushed us off-schedule for our other activities, I left wishing I had chosen any of the other stables in the area. read more

I am an experienced rider, who went for a trail ride here. Ken was absolutely great! He was very nice, and personable. The scenery was fantastic. Furthermore, the horses could not have been better! He selected the perfect one for me, and also the perfect one for my friend (who is a beginner). I cannot recommend this place enough. No matter how much or how little experience you have, they will fit your wishes perfectly. read more

Best trail ride I've ever been on! I was expecting to just sit on my horse while it walked along a well worn path but that wasn't the case. We were riding along in the woods, crossed a couple of streams and Kenny allowed us to trot and canter (if we wanted). The horses were all very well behaved and Kenny even allowed me to take Chloe into the riding ring afterwards and go over some jumps! (I do have prior riding experience). I will say the barn is a little run down and it was a bit muddy but we've gotten so much rain recently that that's understandable. We will definitely be back! Barn-falling down/filthy w/ 15" of manure in stalls...ammonia smell-overwhelming Maintree ONLY has beginners D/T horrible conditions THAT'S WHY HE'S CHEAPEST IN TOWN! We allowed Ken to borrow our adorable pony for his camps & he illegally sold her at Thurmont, MD horse auction. There's active police report & animal control has paid multiple visits to Maintree Farm recently due to the horrific conditions in which his stalls are kept, and lack of consistent feeding of the horses. This is factual as I have pics of the filthy that stayed filthy for the 30 days we observed them. read more

so i see a shit ton of bad reviews, but let me tell you i've been riding here for the longest time and it's been by far the best experience i've ever had riding. now, as for the people commenting about the barn being old and dirty, y'all comon, that barn is old, what do you expect? maybe if you'd stick around for more than a day you'd realize the work that goes into this place & horses. the people who have stuck around, love it. and maybe, just maybe if y'all weren't so judgmental, you'd probably have a much better time. i've seen a few come with looks lurking around the barn, commenting nasty things, if you don't like it, go... now that that's said, come here a few times without the nasty comments and a few lessons, it turns much more relaxing and more enjoyable than you think. you'll enjoy it, give it a chance, it's a promising result. read more

I called to inquire about pricing and schedule a horse riding lesson. The employee who answered the phone began by saying, "Yeah, what?" I was confused and asked if this was the Maintree Farm that provided horse riding lessons. He responded with, "Umm hum." I asked why they guy was acting as if he didn't want my business. Then he said, "Why don't you go F%^#$ YOURSELF!" Holy cow, that place is bad news! Don't go there! Sounds dangerous! read more

I am a employee at Maintree Farm. I am responding to the last review. This lady came to our farm because she knew we were the cheapest in town, and she did not have much money. Our horses were fed plenty of high around the field when they were out, some of them had blankets. There were multiple nights where it was nice for them to stay out over-night. The stalls were not always clean when we were keeping them out. They were roaming thru 2 large fields with plenty of hey because their are not that manny horses out their in those fields. A third party let the owner know that we where the third barn in three months that she had left and called the cops after one month due to the fact that she could not afford board. He said she calls the police every time she turns around, and he wanted to let us know what she was doing. The called and showed up all of a sudden because she had to leave her previous farm. We are aware of the two other Barnes she left after 1 month. We charged her cheap board and even let her keep her trailer in our parking lot for free! She gave us a pony over 3 years ago because she no longer had a place to keep it. We went and picked it up from a pasture with manny other horses in it. For over three years she never visited/checked on it once, she gave it to us. The pony she gave us was a small, grey, mare, pony, she thought a white, large pony gelding, with one eye red and one eye blue was the one she gave us. They hung around the pony's stall and still thought it was hers! She Evan grabbed a second pony one night thinking it was the one she gave us! We sold the pony she gave us, and it did not even have papers. People give pony's and school horses away all the time. She called the cops and had them and us weighting for her to show up for almost two hours. They got her trailer out and her horse and they waived off the pony thing because they knew she was wrong. She called the owner nasty names multiple times via text. She fed our horses hey without our permission as well, when they were on a strict schedule.She slandered our business to the owners via text, Facebook, and now this. We have given here multiple warnings to stop, we now plan to have our lawyer contact her and we plan to take her to court for slander. Animal control has viewed our horses multiple times and determined they were safe. She called them so manny times for no reason they now no longer follow up. We are now concerned about here horse because it is moved one month after the next. She bounced checks, costed us bank fees and got almost a free week of board at the end. We also kept our indoor ring constantly open for them, and if the barn was so dirty, so smelly, and falling apart then why did she leave her horse at our facility? She even said she would stay if we charged her less. So she will put her horse in danger just so she can pay less? She has now bashed our business on manny different social media platforms, and manny different accounts. We will be taking her to court at this point. read more
