For a public course it's fairly nice and the cost is reasonable as compared to other courses. By far if you're looking for a decent day of golf and don't play at private courses then this is a definite choice. I look forward to playing again. read more

This golf course is a well-run public golf course. Paid staff as well as volunteer staff is friendly and does their job with trust and competence. This course has pace policy which is posted on a metal sign (which is consistent with the USGA policy) and is enforced by the Marshalls, which is not true on other Nova parks golf courses. Brambleton do not have a written pace policy, which may be the reason why the Marshalls do not enforce slow play(we are talking about three open holes front of them). I was told at one time when I joined a group of members for a round at the Pohick Bay GC they discouraged fast play, and had to slowdown. USGA would be baffled by this one. ARGC is a straight forward easy course senior tees are same as ladies tees separated by a yard or two (come on now !) . White tees are fairly long (length is its only defense. Greens condition is perfect, but slow. read more

Review for the park and the cottages! We loved taking a little family vacation to cottage #3! We'd already been to Algonkian a few times and we knew it was a scenic, lively park along the Potomac River. We had always admired the cottages because they are right in the water and they look so rustic and cute. I booked the cottage on their website. One thing I will say is that I somehow didn't get a confirmation email and then I had trouble getting in contact with them. I called them and couldn't get through a few times but then I found that they are actually most responsive on Instagram. An old review mentioned bedbugs, so I initially freaked and thought I might want to cancel, but I heard back via Instagram AND phone that their cleaning precautions are super extensive now, and they haven't had a problem like that in years. (The review that scared me was 6 years old, after all.) Check in was easy and we found the cottages to be very clean and super charming. We loved the deck that spanned the back of the house, and it was very safe for kids with a tall rail across the whole thing. Cottage #3 is the smallest one with two bedrooms. (They do have bigger ones for multiple families and some have hot tubs!) There's a shower and bathroom, as well as a kitchen with everything--fridge, freezer, coffee maker, oven, stove, microwave. The only thing I can think of that it didn't have was a dishwasher. They also have a charcoal grill and picnic table outside each cottage. Wifi is also included. They also have a TV with Netflix, and super high windows in the living room and master bedroom if watching birds is more your thing. We had fun going on little hikes along the Blue Trail. I also went on a solo hike on the CountrySide trail which was better to do without small kids. Just hanging out on the riverfront is fun too. They have a boat launch and they collect money in a big pipe thing for it. One thing we were confused about--we thought there was a strict no alcohol policy, but then we read in the guest book that it was allowed in the cabins, just not out and about. During the summer, a stay in the cottage gets you free mini golfing and water park entry. We will have to come back! I do wish you could bring dogs, but I understand that would probably lower the cleanliness factor. read more

The course is well maintained and has a driving range and a couple of putting greens. I think the course itself isn't really for me. Essentially every hole is long and straight without much challenge other than needing to avoid the trees on either side. While Google Maps includes a couple of water features, we didn't see these while playing, so I assume some have run dry. I may be misremembering, but I also only recall one or two dog leg holes. Overall if you love within a closer drive, probably worth checking out, but it wasn't worth the 45 minute drive from Arlington for us. read more

Good course, not spectacular but solid. Played today with a couple of regulars as I'm from out of town. Nice routing pretty straight forward and pretty long especially the Par 3's. I would play it again. Greens were in great shape but not fast. The guys I play d with were good dudes which made it way more enjoyable because when you walk on you never know. Service is as great and the gentleman who was the starter was really enjoyable to interact with. Really good experience overall read more

The course is pretty well maintained, aside from the roughs, which are... well, generally very rough. I play this course weekly and it's a good value, but my last experience left a very unpleasant taste in my mouth. The municipal courses seem to be very strict about the time you need to bring in your carts, depending on sunset. It's not a normal course where you can just play until there isn't enough light. If you're booking a tee time with just enough time to play a full 18, be prepared for that. Normally, the warden and staff are very kind, and will usually let you exchange your cart for a pull cart to finish, but my last experience was terrible... On the 17th hole, an older gentleman with a gray beard came by when I was playing solo, at exactly the time my cart needed to come in. He was nice and pleasant, and when I said "oh, it's about that time, huh?" he told me it's ok, go ahead and finish up, but just be quick. I was ready to comply and bring the cart in, but continued playing on his direction. I tee off on the 18th a couple minutes later, with plenty of light out and when I get to my ball on the fairway, I see a ranger cart talking to the group in front of me just short of the par 5 green, 5 minutes after the time we were supposed to turn in our carts. With plenty of light out, and with the clubhouse in clear view, he apparently picked up this player's ball and threw it after telling them to leave (I talked to this player in the parking lot, a nice guy who worked at a private course for 25 years). This warden, who was now a different, slightly heavy set 60 or so man drove his cart up to me blocking my shot towards the green and said "pick it up and go!" I tried to explain to the warden what the other guy had mentioned and he didn't want to hear it. He instead yelled at me, standing in front of my ball. I understand you want to go home, and I saw the sign that said what time the cart was supposed to come back, but his attitude was uncalled for, and he should frankly be reprimanded for how he treats paying customers. I'll consider playing here again because it's close and part of my neighborhood I grew up in, but I hope I don't see this guy again. read more

Great place for family outing, picnics, kayaking and nice walking trail. It is dog friendly and has quite few wildlife you can spot, the parking is great. It has a nice water park to cool off. It's a beautiful park just the restrooms could use a little clean up but otherwise we had fun. read more

Ranger was awful, screamed at us multiple times through the round for playing slow while while we waited on a group 2 in front of us every hole for at least 7 minutes. Didn't get the rangers name but short gray haired man that clearly hasn't gotten laid in several years and we must have been cutting into his "alone" time. Played the course several years ago also and pace was slow, but thought it would have been a one of so thought i would give it another shot. Will never golf here again. read more

Very nice course. Driving range is small but works for the course. Small putting range too. We walked the 18 holes on a very warm winter day. Overall a flat straight course. Tee boxes were off but it was the winter so to be expected. No complaints. Even saw a lot of deer around the course. read more

Service is HORRIBLE! I have called may be 8 times to inquire about cottage rentals. The person is never at her desk and she hardly returns a phone call when a message is left. How ever, I was "lucky" to receive a call back from her today and she is awfully rude! Some people working with government entities just take their job for granted. LOVE this track. Mostly what you see is what you get, tree lined, and solid overall. In great shape for the most part too. Greens are never fast, but never in bad shape. Just a fun track that is very walkable (a big plus in my book). Putting and chipping green are great for practicing, but the range mats and balls are mediocre. One of the people who work in the clubhouse is pretty rude though. She is older and berated me for using a GolfNow discount (sort of like a Groupon). She thought it was for walk-ons only. But when I showed her the note that said to call in, she just huffed and sent me on my way. I've been here a dozen times and she's never been in a great mood. This park is along the Potomac River. You can park near the boat ramp and see the river from your car. Parking is free. Leave your car behind and use the ramp to put your personal water vessel in the river or go for a hike along the river. Dogs are allowed too. Good spot for spotting birds and other wildlife. Be care on the drive in as there are many deer. They are usually hanging out on the golf course though. If you golf here you are hanging with the deer. They have cabins for rent in one area that is along the Potomac River. There are also picnic areas that are often full of big parties. read more

Review for minigolf only: This course has potential but isn't well maintained at all. The course seems to be easier than some others and some of the holes are fun but this place seems like it hasn't been cleaned in at least 6 months. There is either dirt or mold on lots of the astroturf and there were lots of sticks and leaves all over the course. Yeah they are "natural obstacles" but someone cleaning the place every once in a while would be an improvement. Also, they were out of scorecards which was pretty lame but we used our phone to keep score instead so no big deal. The staff is very friendly and this wouldn't be a bad course if they'd clean it up a little. read more

Perfect for a great look at the Potomac river, there is a nice seating area and a large meadow and gravel parking lot to play and park in. It's so close, I love to walk along the river when the weather is nice. No amenities so be prepared, it's just a nice outdoor space. Also a great place to see tons of deer, so keep your eyes peeled and drive slowly! Can't comment on the pool or golf course which is also included in the park. read more

Review is for the park overall other than the golf course. This is a nice park which is a part of the Potomac Heritage Trail. Plenty of paved trails and nice walks on the river (the one to the right of the boat trip is quiet and has nice views). It can get very busy on the weekends when it gets overrun with picnickers celebrating holidays, so parking there can be at a premium (as is the ball fields nearby). During the week, the area by the cottages is desolate, the parking area over there seems to be a hangout for people, so keep your eyes open. read more

Algonkian Park has a lot to offer from cabins to a nice water park, which even has mini golf. We usually come here for the picnic tables next to the river. It's always a great time especially on hot days since there is so much shade from the giant trees. read more

I'm only rating the golf course in this review. Algonkian is a great course and when factoring in price (particularly twilight rates), probably the best place to play in Loudoun County. Yes Raspberry Falls and Trump National (barf) are nicer courses but they're also way more expensive. The course is very walkable and accommodates all skill levels. For more experience golfers, the course is long but without being a bear. The layout is a bit plain - lots of straight, tree lined holes but I like the challenge of the course. The course condition is typically pretty good - well kept fairways and groomed greens. The service is very friendly and I love the staff here. They also have a driving range and practice greens. I recommend watching out for the foxes as they will sneak into your cart and eat your food while you're not looking. read more

Brought my dog here for a quick hike. Easy to get to, no charge for entrance. I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in NoVA! It was a super sunny day, but plenty of trees kept it shady. Lots of people out on jet skis and small boats. There were a few picnic pavilions along the water as well as picnic sites. The course was good. Not very challenging but it was kept well. The 2 stars is for the club house and the bait and switch that they pulled on the price from golf now. We booked a tee time and the was $45.91 due for each of us when we showed up. Well the balance due was $55.00 and they didn't give a good reason for this. What they said was, it is still $10 cheaper than if you booked it by calling instead of online. Not a good practice. read more

We really loved a lot of things about Algonkian (we had our wedding there in May). The park is gorgeous, the main room that comes with the "event center" rental is spacious (plus you get two bonus rooms), there are wonderful on-site cottages for guests to stay in, and it's close to Dulles for out of town guests. The picnic shelters also offer a very affordable rehearsal dinner venue. But the best thing for us was working with the event coordinator (Lawan), who was just amazing. She was very detail-oriented, super calm, and really good at her job. We really relied on her a lot to keep things running smoothly and she made all the difference in the world The cottages were great both b/c they were cheaper than hotels (if they're mostly full) and it gave us a chance to spend more time with our guests. The free waterpark and mini-golf was a bonus too. The only downsides are that it is pricier than we would have liked (certainly not more expensive than other comparable venues, but still not cheap), and the in-house caterer was very disorganized. They were very friendly and accommodating, but couldn't keep track of things like sending us a contract, keeping track of payments we'd sent, etc. Dealing with Blue Heron (the caterer) was definitely one of the more stressful aspects of the wedding. They did mean really well and we really appreciated them putting in extra effort to make our wedding as "green" as possible, but getting the administrative details taken care of was like pulling teeth. However, in the end the event was wonderful. read more

Great beginner golf course. The membership is unbeatable. I started last year with the silver member walking for something like 1200/year. Got to play 9holes of golf ever day after work and only had to pay for food; which their burgers are awesome ( think their very fatty which gives them their taste). Range is nice and open and people tend to go walking at the very end of it. So if you can drive it 275+ you'll put a nice scare in to them. Course if flat and most holes are open. You'll rarely lose a ball unless you're hacking it all over the course. Trees lining the course are not thick so you'll usually be able to find and make a reasonably good shot toward the green. Bunkers kind of suck cause there is no drainage, but the management is supposidly working to find room in their budget to reconstruct them. Oh and last but not least, the membership gives you free access to Brambleton and Pohick Bay. So three courses for $1200 M-Fri walking per year. AMAZING! read more

I called Algonkian golf course this morning looking for a tee time around 10:15-11:00 and was told that I could play at 10:40. When I mentioned that I was an Assistant Golf Professional at a local club and asked if there was a discount, the man behind the counter told me there wasn't a discount and it would be full price. I said "seriously? Every other NVRPGC I play either gives me a comp or a cart fee and you guys can't extend that courtesy?" I've golfed this course twice now and wanted to provide a review. The first time I golfed here I brought my nephew. This was his first experience with golfing on an actual course. They offer cart rentals and you can opt for 9 or 18 holes. We chose 9 holes. One point to note is that there is a shortcut route that is deceiving, because if you take that route, then you are not golfing your entire 9 or 18 holes. The course is easy. There appears to be many regulars who come out during the day. They located right off route 7, so it is easy to find. The prices are not as cheap as a county course. If you are in the area, it's a good place to visit. read more

The hiking trails are pretty neat. We did a 30+ mile hike along the potomac starting at the Algonkian Sportsplex. The green trail connects to Great Falls Park at around the 12 mile mark and the potomac will always be on your left making for some beautiful scenery. The hike is pretty nice as there are tons challenging hills to keep your heart rate up. read more

My company had a meeting at the Algonkian Meeting and Events Center in the park. Great location for an offsite kind of meeting/workshop that's not too far outside Washington. The events center is in the same building as the Golf Pro Shop. The main conference room has a view of the golf course. There are two other smaller conference rooms and restrooms in the building. Food is done by the in-house caterer and it was excellent. The event center staff were great to work with. Prices were reasonable too. read more

I was just here for a soccer tournament so this is not a complete review, but I was very impressed... this is a nice clean park on the water. The boaters looked pretty happy. I was happy to always find a shady spot to park my soccer mom SUV! The deer looked happy grazing by the side of the road, and from what I heard, the pool made some of my kid's teammates pretty happy. Yes, there's a golf course too. I thought this park looked like a really nice spot for a picnic or day outside. read more

If that sounds too much for you then head over to the mini golf course next to the water park, Volcano Island waterpark. If you get hungry or thirsty both the golf course and the water park does have a cafe full of goodies. My family came here for a family reunion, reserved 7 cottages. The area is nice, the cottages are nice. Ours had a bigger living room than the others we went into. The only problem was my cottage experienced bed bugs. My feet got eaten up which caused me to experience some severe pain. I woke myself up from scratching my feet in my sleep! The park manager Dustin was wonderful in his response to this. We have yet to hear if we get a discount. Upon further investigation we found more bites on other members of my family, none as bad as me. (I mistook my bites for mosquitos bites so it took me 3 nights to understand what was happening.) they brought over a dog specialized in finding bed bugs which confirmed our fears. The park was nice during this whole ordeal, but it didn't lessen the blow of what happened. I am interested to see what will happened after we check out. The water park is great for little kids, very small. But ok. read more
