Beware, this office seemed promising at first, but my experience was deeply disappointing. The presence of a large dog roaming freely during my cleaning was highly unprofessional and unpleasant. The office smelled more like a wet veterinary clinic than a clean sanitized dental practice. To make matters worse, after finally meeting the dentist, Nicole, her first suggestion to me was Botox. I came to a dental office for oral care, not cosmetic. I found her pitch completely inappropriate and off-putting. I am from out of town and had an emergency dental problem, my daughter and husband use and recommended Mairs Family Dentistry. I called their office and explained my problem and they had me scheduled for a visit within 3 days. Everyone I encountered was courteous, caring and friendly. The problem was diagnosed and I was sent to an Endodontist for a root canal within a couple of days. I returned for an exam and cleaning and it was one of the most thorough and complete exams I have ever had and every question I asked was answered. I would recommend this practice and if I lived here, would make them my regular dentist. read more

WOW! Recently moved back home to Colorado after years away! I was looking for a new dental office to serve my current needs. I went their to get a chipped filling fixed. Nicole was my dentist and she was super rude and not helpful. I felt she tried to use scare tactics. She told me my tooth was bad and I would need a root canal and they couldn't get me in for a week. She then proceeded to tell me that if I went anywhere else they would just mess it up and not do a good job. I told her that I was under the impression I could this fixed today when I made the appointment and that a week seemed a little long if it were that bad. I was also in pain. She said a week wouldn't make that much difference. And the hygienist was behind me backing her up saying "yeah" every now and then. It felt intimidating and confusing.I had burst into tears with the harsh delivery about my the bad news with my tooth. The dentist and the hygienist were saying, this is the front offices fault and they do this all the time, then the dentist went to get someone from the front office and the hygienist told me, "make sure you tell her how you feel, because she does this all the time," Sarah came in and was kind a nice and understanding and apologetic. I was grateful for her. They threw her under the bus so fast it was so unprofessional as well as the way they spoke about other dentist. That was my experience. I can tell you that while I was in the waiting room to see them a woman came out to pay and the receptionist gave her a total of over $2,300, and the woman said, "are you serious?" the receptionist calmly said yes. The women asked, " with our insurance?" the answer was yes. I thought dang! Without knowing what had been done. I just mentioned it because I see other reviews talking about how the dentist is high priced. And that observation was my 2 cents on the matter. read more

All of the staff actually wash thier hands/sanitize in the room and the eqipment is wiped down in between patients!! I am incredibly disappointed with Mairs Family Dentistry. I found them close to a year ago and have had very good service and they have been very nice. However, during my first visit, I shared with them that I had Delta Dental Insurance, and wanted to make absolutely certain that anything they would be doing would be covered. They double-checked for me and assured me that they would do nothing that was not within my plan. Each time I've been in, I've reiterated the importance of making sure anything being done would be covered, as I am simply in a place in my life when paying additional fees is not an option. After my first two visits, I received a bill for over $1,000. I was stunned and confused, so called the office. I was told that they'd "missed a number" and it was just a mistake, so not to worry. I then saw them one more time, and this time received a bill for over $400. I called again, and was told that my insurance had decided not to cover the service. I shared that this was something that had been discussed and I was told explicitly that it would be covered, and so the woman I spoke to said she would resubmit it, as often insurance companies will decide to cover things if submitted differently. I just received an email telling me that the service will not in fact be covered, and I will be responsible. They did offer a 15% discount. I'm disappointed because while I've since been told that their policy is to not tell anyone that anything will be covered for sure, that is exactly what I was told, as it was the biggest concern I had. While I'll be looking for different insurance, I will also be searching for a new dental practice. read more

I am new in the area and called several dentists to schedule a teeth cleaning. Since I do not want x-rays taken, many would not accept me as a new client. However, this dentistry said they would do just a cleaning without an "exam" and x-rays. They scheduled me almost 2 months away! I was sent several appointment reminders and even a phone call a day before, which was at 11 am. The morning of my appt., they called me and said to come in at 10:30 so they could take a couple of x-rays, since I was a new patient. I explained that when I made the appt. I specifically wanted NO x-rays. They said they require them for "legal reasons," and if I didn't agree to have x-rays, they were cancelling me! Why didn't they tell me that when I made the appointment?? read more

I had similar experience as one of the other reviews - very nice first impression, good customer service, the dentist couple were nice and pleasant to deal with. That's until I had some horrible cosmetic work done, and went back to get it fixed... Before collecting the money he repeatedly assured me that if I didn't like ANYTHING - whether it's a cosmetic or functional issue - he will fix it at no cost. That was the only reason I went for cosmetic work after-all, since he charged a premium price for it. After I got the work done, I experienced pain and discomfort (that is present nearly 2 years after the procedure), not to mention esthetically it didn't look good either, which he even admitted after looking at it post-procedure.. He not only refused to determine what was causing the pain, but also told me that we would be responsible for "splitting" the cost. While he agreed that esthetically it could look better, acknowledging that gums were irritated and swollen, he assured me that this work would pass the "dental school test", therefore it was good enough and there was nothing he could do. We were also charged for the bleaching trays, that he said were given to us for "free" beforehand.. I had to fight the front office to get that money back.. I also had a front tooth scratched by their assistant, who was cleaning up after a filling. Told their dental hygienist, she just looked at it, shrugged and walked away, as if nothing happened. But after getting such terrible work done, I decided to get it fixed with a different dentist. All in all I would absolutely not recommend them to anyone. A dishonest, overpriced dentist, who's only nice to you until there's an issue that actually requires him to follow through on his promises. Please do your research, especially for the cosmetic work! Make sure the pictures advertised on the website are the ACTUAL pictures of the clients they worked on! Make sure cosmetic work is their specialty and they don't just do it on the side (aka Mairs' office). Make sure the veneers are made with no metal, as metal is an old technology that looks horrible, but there are many of us that are allergic to copper, therefore we get inflammation and discomfort. read more

They gave us a quote that was $68. After the procedure the bill was actually about $300. They said they did not know that it would not be covered and apparently just guessed at the cost instead of actually contacting our insurance company and giving us a real estimate. When we asked them about coming to a middle ground they refused. We will be finding a new dentist that doesn't screw its clients. read more
