I needed a significant hem and the back to be taken in. It fit like a glove when I came in a few days later. She kept the integrity of the dress, and was able to work around my timeframe. This was the worst experience I've had with a small business. Mai originally quoted me wedding dress alterations between $150 and $200. Through the whole process, she never informed me of a price increase. When I came to pick up my dress the week before my wedding, she charged me over $450 and refused to give me my dress without paying that ridiculous price that was never agreed upon or communicated. If you need your pants hemmed, a shirt sleeve shortened, etc... Mai can do it. Keep in mind she is very busy with work and her family. Her time frames for simple pant hemming can be a little long, but the work is well done and affordable. read more

If I could put zero stars, I would have. I picked my date to get my dress. My dress was a one piece that I had tightened on the top and length taken off the bottom. I went in there and my dress was not finished. She had forgotten to do my whole top half. She told me to be in the next day at nine, for this is when she opens. I got there at 9:10 and her car was nowhere in sight. I called her and left messages and finally got a call back. She gave me a complete excuse about how she had to drop off her children at school and make sure they were on track because of the Oklahoma Teacher walk out. Keep in mind, by this time the walkout had ended by about a week and a half. I arrived for the third time the same day and was charged $60. Very unhappy customer. Never going back. read more

Tried Mai's Tailoring on 6967 E 71st St S. My receipt said to pick up Wed. but did not list a time, just said Wed. Shop opens at 9am and I got there by 11am. She said "oh, what did you have?" I said 1 pair of black pants. She said, "oh what day? Wed? Today's Wed. I haven't done them yet. I'll do it real quick you wait." I said I have to I to work at 11:30am.. Anyway...all this to say...I'm not happy with her lack of service! Don't tell me it will be done Wed. If you really mean Thursday...or list a time if you aren't going to have them ready when the store opens that day listed on the receipt by you in your own handwriting! When I thought I had to settle with my wedding dress that I waited 30 days to get back from another tailor for it be wrong, Mai rescued me and I got my dress back in 2 days and now I am ready for my wedding ceremony in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in 5 days! she is extremely unorganized and will lose items you take in there or give them to someone else. She should have some sort of a system in place to keep this from happening. Just be careful if you take an expensive item in there you have been warned. read more

I never had anything major done, sleeves shortened, pants taken in, etc., but Mai not only did a great job, but she may be one of the nicest people I have ever met. She also asked if I was a Veteran and gave me a discount even though I left the army in '71 and would never have thought to ask for special treatment. read more
