The good: I got the strawberry and orange lemonade drinks as well as a handful of pastries. Their selection was amazing. The strawberries on the tart I got were fresh. I enjoyed their seasonal offerings. Their display case was neatly organized and presentation was supreme. French pastries are one of my favorite desserts and this spot definitely offered authentic French options like palmier, tarts and croissants. The bad: The lemonades were too sweet. I was a bit hesitant to come here for coffee / breakfast because of the other reviews but took a chance because when they closed all the locations in the city , I was gutted . MK was my go to for pastries , desserts and the jamon with manchego sandwich. I had a cafe con leche, orange juice and cinnamon roll. They were all ok , the coffee could have been a bit hotter. The pastry was tasty and sweet . All the flavors brought back memories when I used to frequent the Bryant park location . This place is the elidemy of great food that is served fast. It's not quite fast food because they have actual Servers, and they all work very hard and fast to help the customers. We arrived even before lunch on a Saturday, and we had to wait for a little time to get a table. I liked the way the restaurant is set-up and we had a very casual dining experience. I ordered the Club Mauser salad, and my wife ordered the Huevos Espanoles platter. Her meal was much larger and it included papas and prosciuttos. My salad was decent and definitely healthier, bit I was almost jealous and I wished I had ordered the same thing that my wife did. We both had regular coffee and water. Horrible Service. I went to order dinner and waited nearly 40 minutes to get my food. I'm staying next door to this location and when I opened my food, it was completely cold! The burger I ordered had no flavor at all and the service they gave just acted like they didn't care about the customer. I saw them bring the food and it was just at the counter and I was just standing there waiting for someone to attend me. This is a quaint little eatery. I love that they have healthy and vegetarian options, which can be a bit hard to find in this area. My food came out within 15 mins of ordering it and the service I received was remarkable. My grilled cheese and fries was very good. I think they used Brie for the cheese, which added a lot of flavor. They also have a very large pastry bar. I will stop by in the morning for a pastry with coffee. Eric Kayser Artisan Boulanger is like a bit of Paris dropped in the middle of Mexico City. The pastries were beautiful and fresh baked. You could even watch the bakers through the huge windows. The restaurant has an upscale café vibe and the coffee excellent! The manager stopped by to see how we were enjoying the food, and our waiter was friendly. The menu is surprising large, so you'll easily find something delicious. The menu is in French and Spanish, so brush up if you need to before you go, or just ask the waiter to translate. Fresh eggs cooked a number of ways with a simple salad was a great way to start the day. The Pain chocolate aux amandes was to die for! I had this bakery on top of my list on my recent vacation to Mexico City. I had his bread and croissants in Paris the Mecca of bread making etc. So when I saw that he had several shops in DF, I couldn't wait to take a bunch of bread to my family for Christmas upon my arrival. The shop I tried is very pretty, very French, in the Historic part of DF. It seemed sparsely stocked for a French boulangerie and the middle of the day. I purchased a few items, from several petite baguettes to cookies and almond cakes. I should have tried a croissant but I thought I would return asap for the big order. I was so deeply disappointed. The best thing in my purchase was the chocolate chip cookie. But I wanted and expected the bread to be fantastic! From this genius of a French baker! What happened? I had better bread at three other Mexican bakeries in DF! Eric Kayser can not be proud of his name being dragged in the mud with these inferior products. His shops need more training! He needs to take them to Paris and teach them how it's supposed to be done. Get ONE shop to do it JUST RIGHT! Before you open 7 more mediocre ones. Sorry Eric Kayser come back to DF and do some serious retraining. I'm not giving up hope. Next time that I'm in DF I'll give it another chance, in hopes that he's retrained his bakers. read more

I'm a bit torn on Maison Kayser. I stopped in to buy an epi baguette one day and saw an intriguing pastry case, so I was excited to come back for coffee and treats. It's a bright cafe with lots of seating and some cute decor, so that's another plus. There are a ton of tasty looking baked goods to choose from- we chose a white chocolate briochette and an apple puff pastry. We also ordered some drinks from the coffee bar. Here is the problem- the ordering process was so confusing and the service was so unhelpful. There was no line or clear place to order, so we told our order to a woman behind the counter. Then we were left hanging for maybe 5 minutes trying to figure out what to do. sit down? Wait where we were? Eventually we went to a register where the woman was standing and we got to watch three people trying to make our drinks. We thought they had figured it out but they couldn't get a lid on my husbands drink. Like, out of the 3 of them they couldn't figure it out. I found this concerning and frustrating. Eventually we took the drink with no lid. In summary- it took probably 15 minutes from ordering to getting our pastries and drinks. It should not have taken more than 5 minutes. So here is the thing- the bread and pastries are good! Good enough that I may come back to get some to go. I didn't try the sandwiches or salads, but 5 stars for the food I tried. 1 star for terrible service. So, 3 stars overall. I'm hoping that the employees are still getting the hang of things and service will improve in the future. In the meantime, I'll get takeout and make sure I'm not in a hurry. read more

This was a great Sunday brunch. I came here around 11am with a group of 5. It's busy but we were very lucky to grab a table immediately. Once seated, we couldn't stop staring at the gorgeous display of pastries that ran the length of the restaurant. Once we got our coffee and juice ordered, we were offered a pastry to start. I had the chocolatin and it was flaky, delicious perfection. I also tried some of a oreja con pasas which was very good too. I ordered the jamon croissant with an egg. It was very nicely presented and was just as tasty. Everyone enjoyed their meals very much. There is free refills on americanos, free wifi but no outdoor seating. That would be my only complaint. The service is excellent and fast. The pricing is very reasonable. We all got a package deal with a coffee, juice, entree and dessert for $180. I also ordered 2 macaroons to go. Came here in search of a good omlette or egg-filled breakfast but arrived after 12pm, so it was already lunchtime. Pastries and bread were pretty good but the coffee servings were miniscule (kept having to ask for more). Ordered some cheese, onion soup (very hearty and buttery) and coq au vin. The coq au vin was extremely tender and well-sauced. It came as a rather large leg with a side of pasta (the pasta was alright - flavored with some butter).
