There are plenty of options for washers and dryers, which the ones that handle larger loads charging more I've never had to wait for a washer or dryer because there are so many. The woman who works Sundays is extremely friendly and I don't know if she truly recognizes everyone who comes in, but she always looks happy to see you and asks how I've been. They have a few TVs throughout the place so if you're waiting for your laundry to finish washing or drying, or folding, chances are you can see what's on. There's also free Wifi while you wait, or you can always shop at Goodwill across the parking lot to kill some time. Their cheapest washers are over $3 which seems expensive to me, but I usually spend no more than $1 on a dryer for 28 minutes of drying which evens the cost out, and it's cheaper than another laundromat I've tried in Wilton. There's a change machine that accepts $1, $5, $10, and $20s if you don't have enough quarters which is nice, so you can just get a 20 from your bank's ATM and it's enough to cover several loads. Overall a great place to do you laundry if you have need of a laundromat with friendly staff when they're there, though the actual building is open 24/7, TV and free wifi, and nice machines.

I've actually been unable to get the smell OUT of some clothes so I stopped going there, because it smells like old lady perfume or something and is strong. Once, I did my sheets there and had to re-do them all, because my bed smelled like a herd of old ladies or weird white ladies with bad taste from department stores were sleeping in it. I used to always go to the other one on Main Ave. -- which has a severe lack of washers because the staff uses them and does not care if there are none for customers and will let stuff sit in dryers for a considerable amount of time, even if people are waiting to use them. They suggested East Ave, and like I said, great facility, great people, but I don't understand the perfume smell. If it happened once, I'd not complain -- but it happened more than once, and I really don't like the time waste of doing laundry as it is, so having to do it twice is just painful to me. On the downside was the actual laundry/pressing service they provide. I'm a new customer and on my second batch of dress shirts I dropped off I found two of them damaged when I picked the order up. One had actual burn holes through the fabric (iron was too hot and/or left on too long) and another shirt had brown scorch marks on the sleeve and back. For the first one he asked me what the shirt was worth and put a credit on my customer account for it; with the second shirt he said he thought it was detergent so he sent it through again and, in fairness, it came back fine. A month and a half later I dropped off an order with a different set of shirts. This time (again, white shirt) I got back with blue stains all over the cuffs and a few other areas. Mike said he thought it was maybe dye transfer from laundering it with colored garments so he ran it through again. I got it back and it looked like it had come out but as soon as I got it home under good, bright lighting the blue was still there. At this point I've now had issues with three shirts on two separate orders so I decided it's time to call it a day with this place and I took it to Dean's cleaners in Westport. Not only did they turn it around same day but they got all the blue stains out. Look, I'm sure these guys try to do a great job and they obviously care about their business so I'll give them 2-stars instead of one but the quality speaks for itself and for that reason I'd avoid using them.

It used to be air…read moreconditioned, and still has signs that say "keep door closed, air conditioning is on" -- but those are clearly for show, as it is hotter in there than it is outdoors. It is a miserable experience, especially if you live in the area and walk your laundry there in a cart, which many of the people who use it do. It's like walking on the surface of the sun to go sit in a sauna. How lovely! Beyond that, they are so expensive! Again, for the non-gentrified people who actually made this area an area, it is a burden, and their card machines are set up to take no less than $20 at a time -- which I suppose makes sense, as the washers are expensive, and the dryers, which do not seem to be particularly great at drying things (THEY HAVE ONE JOB!) always require extra swipes, so even doing a regular week of laundry for two people comes to about $20. That is far too much money, especially when two people do not create an absurd amount of laundry - though if you decide to wash a comforter or something, put $40 on and expect to have some left over, so you're tied to the laundromat you know is overpriced. A lot of the washers smell like mold. Again, they just underwent renovations, so we re not exactly dealing with old, ancient machines. The staff is nice enough and everyone there minds their own business for the most part - unless the lady who demands a dollar (who, in fairness, just kind of wanders the neighborhood doing this -- and even knows who speaks English and Espanol) -- so that is not the laundromat's fault. I switched to a different laundromat -- and there is no minimum on the card, plus, that week of laundry comes to $10 or less. And it is in a far more affluent area. Today was my first time back after months recovering from surgery, and I was met with one of the most disrespectful, unprofessional experiences I've ever had. I brought in a modest number of items -- a coat, some shirts, a sweatshirt, a few light sweaters, and pants -- seven items total. To my shock, they quoted me $98, claiming that several light sweaters and a hoodie were "coats" to justify their outrageous pricing. When I questioned it politely and said I would simply remove those items, the owner exploded. He aggressively cursed at me, shouting "shit" over and over, telling me to "take my clothes and go somewhere else." He made it crystal clear that customer loyalty, decency, and basic respect mean absolutely nothing to him. I calmly reminded him that I had been a loyal, paying customer for years -- his response was to continue cursing and shouting me out of the store like I was garbage. The fact that this is how he treats a long-time, paying customer speaks volumes about the kind of operation he runs. Belden Avenue Cleaners clearly has no regard for professionalism, respect, or customer loyalty. If you value your dignity and hard-earned money, stay far away from this place.
