No one likes to think of calling a plumber. You call because you're sewer is backed up, there's a mess to clean up, you're schedule is disrupted, you get the idea. They've been out to my house three times. The first, they snaked the main for tree roots. They cleaned up after themselves and left me with a 90 day guarantee. Four months later, the drain backed up again. I called them up, explained the situation and explained that we were outside of the 90 days. They came back out and snaked it again at an adjusted hourly rate. They could have hidden behind that 90 day guarantee, but instead, they treated me right. The third time, the bath tub plugged up and they came right out and took care of it. All of my experiences with Major Drain have been positive. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!Came out twice to clear a drain. First drain was not unclogged when he left. Called back a second time after another plumber /company discovered roots under our concrete floor and outside the house. Second time over the technician fixed the problem and created a huge mess. a Mess he refused to clean up!!!! He insisted water needed to be turned on and run into the bathroom shower drain. After 20 minutes water and colored sewage water was pouring out of the shower drain on to newly painted walls and tiled floors. And no, he did not notice the water flowing all over. Rather incompetent! The technician did nothing but...oh that can be expected! He did not offer to help clean up and promptly left, A contractor came in a cleaned the floor and removed the 10 gallons of water on my new floor. Evidently, the technician (RL) did not tell anyone at work about this....and I have asked the owner or boss to call me to discuss the poor workmanship and cleaning bill of $250.00 that I had to pay. The sign of a good business is determined by the service when something doesn't go according to plan. After service, my drain wasn't working properly and the problem persisted. Brent's brother followed up to offer help. He began to diagnose the drain problem as roots. He explained that it would now take two people to complete the job and there would potentially be damage to the structural integrity of the plumbing. They would comp the first hour due to not fixing the problem. The bill was going to be more expensive than I could afford with two people and no agreed upon price to resolve the problem. So, I told him I would rent equipment and try it myself. If there was potential damage I would have to live with it. It took 30 minutes and we were done. No roots. Months went by and I received an email requesting full payment. After calling, Brent postured that the billing was fair. I said we then have nothing further to talk about. Next I received a call from their legal department. I called to see if we could reach a resolution. The lady who took my call said she didn't have much time. She told me I could make full payment or they would put a lean on my house. I explained the situation to her and she hung up. I then received another email. Take it for what it's worth. They are just trying to run a business, but if thing don't go their way they lack professionalism to resolve conflict. read more

The tech was very friendly and explained their pricing very clearly prior to beginning the job ($90 for the first hour/drain, $25 for the second and a $10 fuel charge). We hired MD to Hydro Jet tree roots out of our sewer line. They showed up on time and got right to work. The job took practically all day ($ouch$) but they cleared the line. It ended up being quite a bit more than I was expecting to pay. They did work with us on the price. This is the third different company we have hired in 9 years to clear roots. As far as the actual work performed, MD was on par with the others. What sets them apart from the others we have dealt with is the digital invoicing and I thought it was a GREAT touch to send a private youtube link recording of our cleared line. Nice enough worker. However, he arrived, told me to clean out everything under the sink myself while he got his equipment, Used my towels and soap to clean up after himself. Was the first drain cleaning person who expressed that he didn't want to get his hands in the water and attempted to remove a stopper by submerging a wrench and trying to remove it that way before I suggested - hey how about you go ahead and put your hands in there and then wash them after. Spent a total of 30 min and when he got done, dawdled around. Ridiculous. I think the guy was nice, but if I need a drain cleaned, I will call a plumber. Not a very good experience. I happened to find this company on Craigslist. Had a great experience with both owners of the Company. One on the phone and the other used the camera and snaked our sewer line himself. They showed me a video of everything they saw, so I knew what was happening. He told me the truth and was honest. They are also VERY reasonably priced... as in $550 cheaper on the high power water pressure to shred the tree roots and over $200 cheaper on the snaking itself. They also give you a copy of the video of your sewer lines if you want it. If you have a sewer or water draining issue, these are the guys to call. THEY even came out on a Sunday in a snow storm (I already had the appt so they kept it). Couldn't be happier. I LOVE when I can support a local company. read more

Wife dropped reading glasses into the toilet and flushed toilet. Major Drain posts their charges as 130 for the first hour and an additional 25 for pulling the toilet. Technician pulled the toilet and the glasses were hung up where the toilet enters the floor drain. Removed glasses, whole job took less than 30 minutes. The bill was 161.50 which is over 300 an hour. My question is what did I get for the 130 hour labor charge as the only work he did was pull the toilet and I got billed 25 extra for that. Seems like double charging to me. They should have at least dropped the 25 for pulling the toilet as that is the only work they performed and it should have been included in the hourly charge of 130. Or they could have waived 65 (1/2 hour labor charge). Their charges need to reflect the actual work done on the job site. read more

I called Major Drain after snaking my kitchen sink line and hitting a spot far down the line I couldnt get past. The guys came out and long story short let me know I had some problems around 20ft down the line and they marked the spot for me on my basement floor after locating the problem area with their camera. They said they could dig it out for me for very reasonabke price but I let them know I felt pretty comfortable digging the pipe out myself. They told me to call with any questions along the way. I cut a foot long section out and discovered I had a giant acorn that had wedged itself in there from a squirrel that burrowed in the vent pipe and slowly over time the grease and sludge packed in behind it making it impossible to free! I couldnt of asked for any better service and these guys saved me a ton of money. They even put a new floor drain where I had dug in since I already was down there and it cost me hardly anything else. They turned a $1000+ job for me into a $500 fix and new floor drain. I had a clogged bathroom sink; Major Drain came and had the drain running in 15 minutes. The ad on the home page of Major Drain states $90 / hour; the fine print in that box states, for the first hour followed by prorated billing in 15 minutes. When the technician presented the bill it was for $107., there was an added fuel charge of $10. That information can't be found unless you click on "Pricing", and if you scroll down to the bottom of that page you see the additional $10 charge for fuel. I spoke with owner Brent Geddings about my disappointment with the fuel charge and he said that is the way it is and was not interested in my concern. read more

I spent $150.00 to be told they couldn't clear my drain, that the equipment wasn't on the truck and that I should have requested a plumber. That there is a difference between a drain cleaner and plumber but he did give me estimates (not written) on two other jobs... On the plus side, the company answered the phones professionally and had someone to my house in less than two hours. I told them the issue and the age of my house which should have indicated what equipment and skill level was needed. I was never informed staff weren't necessarily plumbers. I thought I was calling a plumbing company. The website indicates plumbing services. The tech was a very nice guy and felt bad. But not as bad as I did writing a $150 check so I could continue to go to the laundromat. I have to say also that some of the wordings in a couple of reviews are almost word for word the same which makes me doubt their legitimacy. Even with my experience, I will say everyone was really nice and might be tempted to give a second chance if it was something really simple but I think I'll have someone else fix my drain, replace a corroded pipe and put in a new disposer.
