Our wedding was fraught with planning drama, and despite the fact that we only booked partial planning services, Helayne went above and beyond to help us out when our planning experience hit the rocks. She is the perfect balance of honest and accepting. I know our wedding was offbeat and one with many firsts for her, but she never made us feel like our choices were any less meaningful just because they weren't "traditional." However, she didn't shy away from having the hard conversations - she told us bad news plainly, and honestly, but always had a backup plan. She doesn't sugarcoat things, which, when you're planning an event, is a valuable asset. Despite our planning drama, I almost began to enjoy watching her handle vendors on our behalf - she has this masterful ability to question people in such a way that she gets a truthful answer from them, even if they don't want to give it. Maybe it comes from her history as a teacher! My mother described Helayne as a military general, and that is absolutely accurate. She is meticulous, prepared, grounded, realistic, and capable. And maybe has a secret twin, because I'm not sure how else she managed to be everywhere at once on our wedding day.

After spending multiple hours going over every single detail of my wedding (details that I had no idea would matter), I felt completely confident in Helayne! She did not leave one stone left unturned! My wedding rehearsal went by flawlessly, due to her patience, attention to detail and overall joyous personality! On the day of my wedding, Helayne worked proficiently making sure every detail we previously talked about was executed. And executed, it was! My setup was gorgeous, my bridal party was always in the loop and never once out of place. She made sure that my photographer was taking all the right pictures, my bridal party was getting ready at the right time, and that my bride to be was stress free! I never once lost confidence in Helayne and her services! After we said "I do", I was able to sit back, relax and completely enjoy my reception. She was even flexible when I decided during the reception to cut out the bouquet toss and other events because I simply wanted to dance! She never lost patience, even when my DJ turned out to need more help then he should of. Helayne went up and remind him what to announce and when to announce it (even though she provided him with a detailed itinerary). She made sure to check in with the my family/friends that were part of our reception to give them a heads up before they were needed. My husband, Phil, and I waited for 3 years for this wedding because of COVID. At first, it was going to be at Wedgewood Brittany Hill in CO, then it got cancelled because of COVID, then Wedgewood Carmel in CA when things started to reopen, and finally we moved it to Hofmann Ranch because my mom is struggling with complications from her double knee replacement surgeries that were postponed because of COVID and she couldn't fly to CA. The day before our wedding, Southwest cancelled Phil's best man's and his wife's flights, Phil's cousins' flights, and my friend's flights and my uncle had to drive all the way from San Diego the day before the wedding. We were beyond worried and devastated. Because of the Hofmann Ranch team, we felt so secure and so loved and our families and friends were able to meet each other for the first time and connect with each other. Britney thought of everything: making sure that my mom had a place to sit so that she could march with me halfway down the path of the patio deck, she held onto my train, she made a water color Phannie drink sign that was gorgeous, she made sure that we ate, she thought of every single detail and schedule change when our families kept talking and singing (this is what happens when you get a whole bunch of Filipinos together LOL), she made sure that Phil and I ate food, and there are countless other things that I am sure that we don't know about. Giving Britney my bouquet was the only way that I could say how grateful I was for creating a magical place and experience in spite of all the obstacles. Phil and I are so thrilled and feel like we were destined to be married at Hofmann Ranch. You have a special place in our hearts. I hope that your mother liked the bouquet. The price was reasonable, and included 2 glasses of wine, and a small charcuterie board you will create there with all the amazing ingredients they provided. We got amazing people in our table and we got to learn about white carrots and why now they are orange, we learned about cheeses, also we learn the basics of a charcuterie board, from color combinations to what goes best with what. It was a very enjoyable time, they make it fun and easy, I would love to attend to more of their classes. Check the pictures we took there! The only "plates" provided were small paper "saucers" about 6' across. For a dinner of prime rib with sides. So everybody was stacking high, attempting to carry 2-3 plates, etc. Ridiculous..... Although we had a rain plan in place for the day of the wedding, I was not willing to give up on having my dream outdoor ceremony. Despite there being high odds of rain for our wedding day, I wanted to take a chance and try to make the outdoor ceremony happen. Thanks to Mitzi's expert planning, we were able to setup for the ceremony inside and outside and make the call only 30 minutes before the wedding. It rained so hard that the power went out in the bridal suite and Mitzi was still able to pull off nothing short of a miracle. In addition to coordinating with every single one of our vendors to ensure a seamless evening, Mitzi also went to bat for us whenever she could. Whether it was negotiating with our caterer to ensure certain rental items were included in our contract or disputing charges from the transportation company for a town car that failed to show up, I knew I could trust Mitzi to handle everything. It feels like we were let down by how things were handled especially in the last few months leading up to the wedding. They use an online tool (aisle planner) which is super helpful when there are items to discuss. However, there were numerous times we needed to email because something we wanted to discuss was not on the checklist and many times that things were lost via email. Also, the tool didn't have a convenient way for us to upload things to the portal. The vendor quotes we got for things were very limited. When we wanted an outside vendor (not on the list provided) it felt like we needed to handle that ourselves. It also was much much faster turn arounds when we spoke directly to the vendors. Stefanie is a very personable, friendly and kind person. She really does a good job of making you feel important. However, the follow through was not there leading up to our day. For example, after several weeks up no response, we finally got a response to start on invitations. We had already sent save the dates. However, the invitation design/send process started so late we had guests reach out to ask if they were uninvited because they hadn't received their official invites. Plus, we sent them so late our guests had less than 2 weeks to respond. Towards the last 6 weeks leading up to our wedding, there was a medical related incident that caused some delays - which we completely understand. People first!However, the communication, transition and delays were horrible. For example, we had another several weeks without YWYW contacting us at all. Then, we received an email stating the radio silence was based on a medical incident. We had a HUGE mishap with catering and most of the communication with the vendor was handled by the wedding planner themselves. Meaning, it was hidden from us - which is good normally. However, the day before our wedding, I asked about the final invoice and it was 30% larger than the last invoice we saw (we didn't add that much). When I seemed shocked, the first response from our wedding planner was don't worry, it's still within budget. That felt unsettling to me. It turned out the cater had misquoted the cost of staff (buffet versus plated). The wedding planner did step in and fix this once we communicated frustration with it. On the day of, everything went well. However, our wedding planner could not make the event. They had a medical issue and had first, communicated that they were going to be well enough to attend our wedding and then week of, told us that they were no longer coming. Which was totally good but the replacement wasn't good. They were often short with me, my partner, my sister and my matron of honor. They snapped at my wedding party a few times in front of me. They were hard to find often and did not have the catering issues handled - I was asked where the special diet person sat (even though this was communicated thoroughly with YWYW). If we were to do the experience again, we would do most of the planning ourselves and then hire a day or week of coordinator. We are both very organized, detailed and informative. We felt like we could have found cheaper, tested and still lovely vendors. On the bright side, I didn't like my first make up trial and the wedding planner worked really hard in one day to get me set up with another trial and contract. It helped immensely because I felt beautiful on my wedding day. They even gave me their business phone number to text/call when needed. We felt really supported here. However, it was by far the best turn around we saw. We feel overall that the ball was dropped for our wedding multiple times towards the end. However, our day ultimately was beautiful and magical. We will be grateful for some of the wonderful vendors YWYW provided to us. We wanted to get a wedding planner to alleviate some of the stress around wedding planning but felt it frustrating at times.

She made a 70 page PDF packet (WHAT!!!) of all the wedding venues that fit our budget and aesthetic in Austin for our budget. (We are based out of Chicago, so this was a destination wedding by all accounts.) Bethany hosted countless phone calls with myself and my partner about design palettes (she even made a slideshow for us to help visualize) and helped us through some really difficult vendors. For example, AFTER we booked a wedding venue and paid deposits, the venue CLOSED with just a few months before the big day. Bethany sprang into action and found us an even BETTER venue. Also, we booked a flight into Austin to work with a caterer, and he cancelled last minute. Bethany, again - the super hero that she is - found us a better caterer, and even scheduled a tasting during the time when the original vendor left us hanging. She came to both of our fittings, as this was a double bride ceremony. She talked me down from my personal freak-out about dress choices. She made a budget, a schedule, e-introduced all vendors, kept a very rosé-drunk "I Do Crew" (sorry about that) on task during our rehearsal and rehearsal dinner with grace and a smile. She made great suggestions (taking 15 minutes to ourselves post-vows, the flow of the wedding, etc) and was always by our side. She shoo'ed people away so we could have our last private dance, and was warm and welcoming throughout. I cannot even begin to tell you how amazing she is.
