Here is the wreath I made!
Jay D.

The wife and I had a date night at Makers Social last night and had a blast. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Always coming around checking on your progress and whether you needed anything to complete your project. There were many projects to choose from, along with all the needed tools to complete. The drinks were very good as well and may have encouraged a little more creativity!

When you have adult kids who don't want presents you look for fun experiences. This place has crafts for all skill levels and ages. The staff is super helpful and the cocktails were reasonably priced. We all had a blast. Only recommendation would be to choose crafts that take around the same time or you'll have people finish at different times. It would be a fun girls night out too!

A very cool concept, great space, and very welcoming. Crafting with friends while enjoying a cocktail or mocktail. Heck yea!!! What a great idea. We made reservations for a Saturday evening. I had a little issue finding a good parking spot, but was soon welcomed to our table where we decided what we would craft. Lots of very cute options from necklaces, to book marks, to pet bandanas, to clocks. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The prices are a bit ridiculous for what you get. A pet bandana, before tax and tip, is $36! Really?? My friend and I made matching necklaces. They came out cute- but the chain was pretty cheap looking- and I'll probably end up not wearing it much- which is disappointing considering after tax and tip we paid nearly $60. Would love to go again, but only if there is some kind of special or the prices drop.

I had an absolute AMAZING Time yesterday at Makers Social. I had never heard about it until my friend told me that she went to a birthday party there and of course, I had to try it out. I made a reservation on open table through their website and ended up calling to add one more person as I added the max amount. I can't tell you how excited I was to go to this place. When we arrived I went up to the bar and let them know I had a reservation and they told me that the first two tables were mine. I ended up bringing 15 people and they let you bring your own food so my friend made us a charcuterie board. This place is fantastic! You get to pick a craft and be able to drink during it. I just got a puppy the other day so of course I had to make him a dog bowl holder. this project seems like it be so hard but the step-by-step instructions that were given to us really made it better. At one point we asked the lady working if we did it right and of course we did not. Gave us a power drill and it told us what we needed. We started with just slabs of wood and look at this amazing piece I strongly suggest trying this place out for maybe a date night, birthday party, girls night or just anything because I had so much fun and I really wanna go back and make another item. My only complaint is that it is a tad expensive but it's understandable because of the awesome space. I wish there were items though that were under $20 as most of my friends split stuff

I have been wanting to do something like this forever and it was exactly what I needed! Makers social gives you all a different experience - I'm not a huge paint fan so being able to have a date night in a creative way this was perfect!

Had such a fun Galantines Day there! Kelly is a badass and helped us throughout the entire experience. 10/10 would recommend and will definitely be back!

This is an incredible experience and such a fun activity for any occasion! I made a reservation here for about 20 people for my fiancés birthday. It was so easy to make a reservation. You can bring your own food too, so we picked up pizzas. The service was amazing! They were so accommodating for a large group and helped us all with our projects. Some people didn't make something, and that was also ok! The drinks were amazing, they have so many options for beer, wine, seltzers and cocktails. They also had snacks. You can make so many things, serving trays, beer flight trays, wine tags, dog bow ties, etc. really a great time to be creative and socialize. It was so fun, would highly recommend for any occasion!

Cocktails and Cement pencil holder craft! So fast!

Surprised I haven't reviewed before, because I've been a few times. I even picked up carry out cocktails and crafts (it's a thing check it out) for a girl's weekend and they were fantastic! Recommend. GO TO HERE, YOU WON'T BE SORRY! One of the best date nights in town. MAKE A RESERVATION, CALL AHEAD you will be here 1.5 to 2.5 hrs in total depending on what craft selection, so same day we were booked on the early side with a 5pm instead of after dinner which was our plan. Totally fine. Great options for any person, theme that include pets, kids, jewelry, leather crafts, home items, the list goes on. Last time I did metal bookmarks, this time was cement plant holders/pencil holders that I custom painted. My spouse opted for cement clock that he custom painted. Great selections, I love that they are always changing. They walk you through the entire process and make suggestions for best project. Even literally waiting for cement to dry - only 30 min - we still had nice conversation over drinks...and about those... Cocktail menu has pun inspired drinks, also beers and wine. They also have a nice little bourbon collection for a psudo-bourbon snob (me). I tried the Basil Hayden Caribbean Rum finished bourbon. Not bad! And another Manhattan drink from the cocktail menu. Really great date night place, everyone compliments my cement holder at work.

Leather keychains we made
Kristina D.

Such a fun and creative experience! My husband and I enjoyed making our leather keychains and they turned out well - the whole process took about an hour, which is the estimate they gave us. The instructions were easy to follow and our project leader was helpful when we had questions. The set up is so cute - they provide all of the tools you need and have so many different projects to choose from. The drinks are also solid with cute names like The Iron Mallet and The Knotty Screwdriver. Would definitely go back and recommend!

Love this place! What a great idea to have a bar with make and take crafts! The custom cocktail and bourbon lists are great. There's also a nice list of beers on tap. Maker projects are offered on a menu outlining project, price, time commitment and focus levels. There are options for all (pet, bar, self, & home focused). Staff are friendly and helpful. I highly recommend trying this experience!

Group work outing

We did a girls night work outing to Makers Social and had the absolute best time. What really stood out the most to me was the servers. Not only were they timely in getting drink orders, they were so so helpful when it came to the projects! It was almost like they knew exactly when we were confused and would swoop in with helpful tips. I love how they have a "focus" level for each project depending on how committed you are to the project versus talking with whoever you're with. They have all of the tools you could possibly need for each project as well. They have a lengthy drink list and no one had trouble finding something they liked. Unfortunately no food, but they are totally fine with you bringing food from outside and there's a good pizza place right around the corner! Also close street and garage parking. Will be back!

Personalized wreaths offered during Yelp's Adulting monthlong event as a Zoom instructional class!

I stopped by here and had a few drinks at the bar when I was picking up supplies for a virtual fall wreath making event. What a cool concept and space this place is. There are so many different styles of projects that you can either make in-store or to bring home. All projects are self-guided but the staff seemed hands-on if needed, always checking in on the patrons and making sure their drinks were full. Alcohol prices are very reasonable and they offer some very interesting cocktails (even to go) using local Watershed spirits. Next time my parents come up to Columbus for a visit (realistically early next year when the vaccine is distributed), I'm so bringing them and my 7 year old nephew in to work on some projects together. We usually paint pottery as a family, but this kid has started a decent collection of animal banks and at this point we need to diversify our DIY & crafting experiences. I plan to come down again in December. This time to drink AND make a project. Something seasonal AF!

i would like to move into makers social please. this is the coolest place in the world! it's like summer camp crafting with nice mock/cocktails! best vibes ever. everyone working was super and nice and didn't even blink when i asked stupid questions (lol). the options are wide so there's something for everyone! i use my wallet everyday and actually get compliments on it!! about once a week i talk about taking another trip to colombus so we can go back

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

I never leave Alibi disappointed. They always have such a creative menu with something for…read moreeveryone. It always amazes me how quickly they crank out such creative drinks. I'm sure some of them are batched, but they don't taste like they are. Service was excellent, as always. Endlessly knowledgeable. Small place, but never feels crowded even when full.

That being said, upon opening the door we were told we couldn't come in without masks. Mine was in my pocket, no problem. I haven't left my home (in Tennessee) often enough since the beginning of the virus for it to become habit to automatically put on a mask when I get out of my vehicle. But 9/10 times I remember before entering a public place. The male bartender just seemed rude in the way he told us to put one one. I had read the raving reviews, and being a Yelp Elite myself I know I can and do trust their reviews above others. So....I was really looking forward to trying something new and enjoy watching a bartender do their thing. The bartender pointed to two framed menus on top of a cooler containing seltzer's and canned drinks, and some glass bottles of pre-made cocktails, I think. I would've appreciated the bartender ask me what I liked, and help me decide, but it was easier for him to point to the sign. Customer service absolutely sucked hippo balls. I asked if I could just order a Knob Creek and Coke in a short glass, and a Blanton's for my hubs. Sure!! What I got was a shot of each in a to-go plastic condiment container with a lid, and two big paper go cups (like Burger King) of ice, and a can of Coke, which I told him never mind I had a soda in the truck. We also got two bags of Cheeto's, to make the sale legal. So....we poured our bourbons over the ice in the paper cups. I drank a few sips of mine, yum, even in paper. My husband was just about to take a sip and noticed something stuck in his ice that looked just like a maggot. He walked back across the street and told/showed the bartender, who vehemently denied it came from the ice because it was a brand new bag. Then I noticed 3 of the maggot looking things in my ice, so I went back in and showed my husband and then the bartender. He told my husband it was probably from the citrus he was cutting on a board near the ice bin. They were frozen INSIDE the ice cubes. I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it, it was gross. I'm upset that a bartender would try to make it seem like it was nothing. After seeing it all in my ice my husband just asked for our money back, and the bartender said, "But I've already poured another." Ummm, sorry, but no thank you. He did give the refund, but I most assuredly won't give them a second chance when I visit Columbus.
