Came in for drinks and food! The drinks are wonderful! The view was amazing too! We did get hungry for food, but it was very small options (tapas style). I think we enjoyed the drinks and the view. The service was also excellent!

Came in on Halloween to check out the view and for a quick drink. We were helped quickly and really enjoyed our drinks! Keep in mind this is a pricier than average bar but considering it's in a hotel and is a rooftop with an awesome view we would still say the value is worth it. There was also a DJ by the dining area and overall this seemed like a great place to network. Hopefully next time we can make it up for sunset!

Location: top floor of 402 Tower, 402 N High Street, Columbus Ohio The view alone is worth the 5-star rating. This is a must. We took our chances arriving without reservation at opening on Saturday to have a pre-dinner cocktail. The staff is friendly and the cocktails inventive. We stayed for 2 cocktails and enjoyed every sip and minute. There is a nice menu to order a snack also.

Don't skip out on Stories on High. On the first glance, one might think its a simple hotel bar. That would be incredibly wrong. Instead, there is a great ambiance, an excellent view of the city, and a combo indoor/outdoor area that is perfect for all seasons. The staff is incredible, thoughtful, kind, and focused. We may have went more than once and always had a positive experience. The food and drinks were equally good - we tried so many things and the hands-down favorite were the sliders. They aren't huge, so if you're hungry these will only be a snack, but I promise, it's a great snack. Can't wait to go back!

It is beautiful bar if you're looking for a special treat. The views are beautiful at sunset and they have additional patios for different views of the city. We enjoyed their drinks and NA options. We ordered the steak frites and spicy tuna apps. I'd recommend asking for fresh wasabi - makes the flavors really pop. We had a miscommunication with the orders with an onion allergy. They all had chives which my partner wasn't able to eat, but the staff was accommodating and comped it for us. The steak frites was a good tartar, but it's not my preference. It's a bit heavy with the hash brown and over salted for my taste. It could use something acidic to balance.

Nothing but good things to say about Stories on High! The experience was delightful, with amazing views of downtown Columbus and the Short North. The service was friendly, and all the food was fantastic. I definitely recommend ordering a variety to share and the Chicken Bites and Sliders were my favorite. I made a reservation via OpenTable, and four of us met up for dinner. We were seated by the window, which made the evening even more special. For Dinner, the four of us enjoyed: -Asparagus Skewers ($7): Miso, mustard, and pickle juice sauce -Duck Skewers ($16): Orange hoisin sauce, corn flakes, togarashi, and cilantro -Spinach and Artichoke Wontons ($8): Grain mustard soy sauce -Wagyu Spring Roll ($12): Japanese hot honey mustard sauce -Steak Frites ($15): Wagyu tartar, ponzu sauce, caviar, on a hash brown -Brined Fried Chicken Bites ($12): Chicken thigh, comeback sauce, and smashed cucumber salad -Maguro ($20): Sashimi (tuna) -Beef Sliders ($12): Wagyu, kimchi, cheddar, Asian dressing, on Hawaiian rolls -BBQ PORK BAO ($12) -Hoisin BBQ Sauce, House Smoked Pork Shoulder, on Carter's Steam Bao Buns Every dish was delicious, with thoughtful flavors and loved the presentation. I highly recommend for the food, service, and stunning views and can't wait to come back. Learn more and you can check out their drink and food menus at www.storiesonhigh.com.

Wow! I need to just say WOW to this place. What a vibe! It was a movie. I went with a group of 9 dudes, no ladies, and they were able to get us a nice table. They served us water and timely no less. They served us tasty drinks. Might I say- the view was spectacular! I really enjoyed and recommend Stories on High for anyone looking for somewhere to bring 9 guys to.

I experienced the most excellent customer service from the front of house to our server. We're staying in the hotel and staff suggested we go up and give Stories a look. We opted for dessert first and then a few appetizers. I ordered the raspberry cheesecake, it came out resembling a fortune cookie which immediately made me smile. It wasn't anything special but was good. The waygu spring rolls were honestly disappointing, the meat was tender but lacked flavor; the honey mustard dipping sauce was delicious. The spinach artichoke wontons tasted like something from the Trader Joe's freezer section but again the dipping sauce was the highlight. I recommend going for the view if you aren't staying in the hotel as the view is top tier.

Stories on High has an amazing ambiance. The low lighting, candle lit table, and panoramic view gives upscale date night. If you want to be seated by the window for a better view, you have to make a reservation, but you'll have to put a card down and will be charged if you don't make it. Service here was solid. Our waitress was very nice and took care of us. She knew when to come check on us and when to leave us be. For the most part, the food here was really good. The scallop crudo was bright and had excellent complimentary flavors. The fried pork belly in the guacamole was really good. I liked how they paired it with crispy wonton chips. The chicken skewers were ok, not super exciting. I also splurged on the Wagyu nigiri with shaved truffle and the salmon nigiri. They did not skimp out on the truffle, but based on the marbling and texture of the beef, I doubt it was Japanese A5 Wagyu. Though, that was not claimed. It only said Wagyu nigiri. Lastly, the salmon tasted a little fishy to me. Luckily, I didn't have any issues after. Overall, the vibes were great. I'd come back for the views, drinks, and small plates, but maybe not the sushi.

I'm happy to update my review for Stories on High. After my first not so great visit, the general manager reached out and asked if we would be willing to come back and give them another shot. I was a little hesitant but agreed. I'm so glad our second time there was so much better than the first. We decided to sit on the patio and enjoy one of the last few nice nights before it becomes unbearably cold. Our waiter was attentive, we got our drinks and food fairly quick. I decided to stay away from the chicken this time and instead got the spring rolls, wagyu skewers, duck skewers, and artichoke wantons. My favorite was the wantons, followed by the spring rolls and skewers. All in all I'm glad we went back and the experience this time was great.

Drinks were great, food was excellent, service was impeccable. The bartenders were attentive and talkative, and the food came out quick and fresh. Definitely gets busy around 6 pm but we were fortunate to grab a bar seat. Views are great and there are no TVs in the restaurant which is refreshing as well.

Vibes in this cocktail bar are electric. It's the perfect location and the view is unreal. Had 5 different cocktails between our group. Some great, some good, some okay. I love blue cheese olives so having a dirty martini but no blue cheese olives is sacrilegious

Great little cocktail bar. We didn't get any food, but enjoyed a cocktail with the awesome view of downtown Columbus. Service was great and drinks suggestions were wonderful.

It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.

That being said, upon opening the door we were told we couldn't come in without masks. Mine was in my pocket, no problem. I haven't left my home (in Tennessee) often enough since the beginning of the virus for it to become habit to automatically put on a mask when I get out of my vehicle. But 9/10 times I remember before entering a public place. The male bartender just seemed rude in the way he told us to put one one. I had read the raving reviews, and being a Yelp Elite myself I know I can and do trust their reviews above others. So....I was really looking forward to trying something new and enjoy watching a bartender do their thing. The bartender pointed to two framed menus on top of a cooler containing seltzer's and canned drinks, and some glass bottles of pre-made cocktails, I think. I would've appreciated the bartender ask me what I liked, and help me decide, but it was easier for him to point to the sign. Customer service absolutely sucked hippo balls. I asked if I could just order a Knob Creek and Coke in a short glass, and a Blanton's for my hubs. Sure!! What I got was a shot of each in a to-go plastic condiment container with a lid, and two big paper go cups (like Burger King) of ice, and a can of Coke, which I told him never mind I had a soda in the truck. We also got two bags of Cheeto's, to make the sale legal. So....we poured our bourbons over the ice in the paper cups. I drank a few sips of mine, yum, even in paper. My husband was just about to take a sip and noticed something stuck in his ice that looked just like a maggot. He walked back across the street and told/showed the bartender, who vehemently denied it came from the ice because it was a brand new bag. Then I noticed 3 of the maggot looking things in my ice, so I went back in and showed my husband and then the bartender. He told my husband it was probably from the citrus he was cutting on a board near the ice bin. They were frozen INSIDE the ice cubes. I'm upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it, it was gross. I'm upset that a bartender would try to make it seem like it was nothing. After seeing it all in my ice my husband just asked for our money back, and the bartender said, "But I've already poured another." Ummm, sorry, but no thank you. He did give the refund, but I most assuredly won't give them a second chance when I visit Columbus.
