But Felicia always consults you first before she starts doing your makeup and checks in with you during/after to make sure you're liking what she's doing (since it is your face after all). For my wedding, she did the makeup for my three bridesmaids, mother, and myself. She worked efficiently and made sure that we were cohesive, without being cookie-cutter versions of each other. One of my bridesmaids commented, "my face has never looked so clear!" And the true test: my makeup stayed on ALL DAY - through lots of tears, sweat (summer wedding in Napa), and some crazy dancing! Cathleen was extremely upbeat and excited about my special day. I knew and felt that my happiness and satisfaction was her #1 priority and I wasn't just another customer! I didn't read a cookie-cutter email about her background or get a monotone voice mail trying to sound "cool" or "too business-y". Everything about her was sweet, courteous and friendly! Cathleen required a personal Bridal Consultation to discuss my preferences, styles, expectations, etc. And not only was I having her bam out my makeup, I was also going to have her do my hair! Both of these tasks are a serious chore - I love all kinds of makeup styles (think makeup ADD) and have long, thick, heavy, Asian hair. Cathleen offers one hour per service (i.e., one hour makeup, one hour hair) but wanted more time during our consult for discussions and play. I didn't feel rushed, I didn't feel like I was overstaying my welcome, I felt just right! I was able to chat with her more about her makeup and hair background and interests! We talked skin care, makeup care, styles - it was total ME TIME! I brought my veil and we even played with veil and hair height (up and down to the tiniest centimeter several times!!). My time with Cathleen made me look fwd to my day even more! On the big day, Cathleen and her sister, Sarah, joined me in my hotel suite to do hair and makeup for me, my daughter, and a few bridesmaids. Because they both are so personable and friendly, we got to talk more and share great laughs! They made me very comfortable!! I gave them style ideas for my bridal party and they delivered (20s theme updos), glamorously and sweetly. I love them! Cathleen also did my daughter's makeup lightly which really made her shine and glow! You know some of them' teens nowadays with the heavy makeup hands (like, gag me with a spoon!). Bright Eyed Girl accepts credit cards (via Square) for those of us that don't have time to hit the ATM on frantic days. Cathleen is quick and friendly with her email responses and this was a HUGE plus for me (I'm an emailer and texter guru)! She does hair and makeup for all sorts of events and/or special occasions (i.e., car shows, weddings, date night, etc). She even hosts personal makeup tutorials!! Like, what?! Fab-u-lous! She made a schedule with toning and highlights. This perspective helped me out a lot. While I was getting my color treated, she massaged my hands with natural oils and lotion. She told me how tense my muscles were, which I told her I've been working a lot on my hands due to artworks. She flattened them up and made them feel relaxed. Well, more like she can be mean... Perfect client for Jazlyn! I know several stylists and what separates her from the rest is her attention to detail and her personal touch. Some salons and stylists will rush through an appointment to get on to the next victim; not this one. Jazlyn takes her time as she wants you to feel good not rushed. She won't just color your hair and say "uh-huh" after everything you say, either. If your hair was messed up by someone else she will tell you if she can fix it or not or what the process will be. The first time she did my Mom's hair she just cut it. Mom was happy with the cut but disappointed that Jazlyn didn't have experience with Perms. Yes, wavy/curly perms. So what did Jazlyn do.. She went out of her way to learn how to do perm's! So the next time around, she was able to perm and my mom asked to color and cut her hair as well. Mom loved it and it made her look like she was 10 years younger. Should've seen my Dad's face. Priceless! She has gone on to cut my hair and I have referred several family, friends, co-workers and clients. I am glad she found a new home at Park Ave Salon!

During the planning process she was so communicative, which is amazing when you're a control freak like me. I gave her the exact timeline for the day and she figured out when she'd get to the room and the order of makeup done on the day. She got there early in the morning to set up and away we went! It was such a smooth process because we were just rotating the bridesmaids and moms (5 bridesmaids, 2 mothers). First, I have to say - that I hadn't met Niki nor did I do a trial with her prior to my wedding. I had another makeup artist booked for several months with whom I did my trial and was happy and ready to go. It wasn't until the morning of my wedding (literally, 6am) that my original makeup artist didn't show. It turned out there was a family emergency and she didn't get a hold of me until 2 HOURS after she was supposed to be there. By this time I was freaking out, we were behind schedule, and I had no clue who was going to do mine and my bridesmaids' makeup. Finally, my original makeup artist got in touch with me and said she was sending a backup (Niki). I was nervous, I had no trial with her, but at this point I had to roll with it. NIKI WAS AMAZING. Not only did she do an amazing job with my makeup, but she worked so quickly and by some miracle got all of us back on schedule. Maria did my trial and she literally has transformed the way I do makeup. She showed me what tightlining is, which seriously has given me so much confidence. I never knew why top eyeliner was a struggle for me. No matter how thin the line was, it still took over my eyelid. I have explained this to makeup artists before, but they just continued on with the eyeliner, which made me self-conscious, like one single black line takes up my whole eyelid. Maria explained to me that the shape of my hooded eyelids would benefit from tightlining, which is putting eyeliner on the upper lash line, instead of on top of it. WOW! I feel like a new person. I do it myself now and I just can't believe I never knew about it before. During the trial, I absolutely adored Maria, but I kept falling for her as she was just so respectful. She told me what the next steps were and asked if I'd like to see myself. Other trials felt rushed and I never saw myself until the end. She was so respectful of how I wanted to look: natural and probably even a bit bare as a bride. But she made me look like a better version of my usual self! Leading up to the wedding, Maria checked in and had us send our looks and preferences. I loved this as I was paranoid about not staying on track that day. I loved that she wanted to be so prepared. The wedding was chaotic, we just had a lot of people and unexpected situations arise, like high winds. Maria was patient and never made me feel like, "Hello, we gotta get this show on the road." She made sure I ate and every time I was scatterbrained on the chair, she let me do my thing! I just felt so accepted by her! My friends and I all got so many compliments and it's really more a compliment to Maria and Adrienne and their amazing skills!
