First and foremost, she is an absolutely wonderful human being- she has a warm and calming presence and really sets you at ease, especially during stressful moments of your wedding day. She is great at reading people and understanding your vision of what you would like to look like. I'm pretty sure I wasn't great at communicating what I wanted and somehow, she translated what little I gave her into something even better than what I had envisioned. I went with a very romantic-meets-glam style of hair and makeup and was BEYOND happy. My bridesmaids were nervous about having their hair up since they're used to seeing dated-looking up-do's. But after the wedding, many of them pulled me aside and said how much they loved their hair. Their modern up-do's looked like they were straight out of Pinterest- flowing and beautiful! I was particularly blown away by Heather's make up skills (I actually asked her if I can take some lessons with her in the future!). She is an extremely skilled artist who enhances your features without making you look cakey or unrecognizable. I received a multitude of compliments from many of my friends who were brides before and had the scary 'I have too much makeup on my face' moment with their weddings- they all were floored at how natural and beautiful her makeup turned out to be. Marie rocks! I searched for a new salon for days before deciding on Salon 13. I emailed them late…read moreone night and was very happy to get a text from Marie the very next day saying she was available the day I requested. When I got there she was ready to get me started and instantly made me feel at ease. I had a picture of what cut I wanted and she pulls the scissors out and dry chops some the length before my wash. The Wash! She is MAGNIFICENT! If you have never had Marie wash your hair, you are doing a big disservice to yourself! When she finished cutting my hair in a choppy bob, it was better then I pictured in my head. It's light and free and really moves. She really took my drab, hang-there hair and made it beautiful. When you have baby fine hair like I do, long hair just doesn't work. Take a chance and sit in Marie's chair. I promise you will ENJOY your experience!

If I could give 0 stars, I would! First, my appointment was scheduled for 9:30am but didnt start…read moreuntil after 11am. I asked for medium-large, bra length, knotless braids and was given something totally different. The photos clearly show basic box braids that weren't the size nor length requested. My parts are crooked and braids are two different sizes. When I asked why, I was told my hair is too short and too fine for what I requested but the stylist did not communicate that to me for the 5 hours I sat in her chair. She never showed me my hair until the end so I didn't have an opportunity to comment. I've had knotless braids before and never had any issues. MOST IMPORTANTLY, the environment should be clearly noted. This is not a salon, this is a small living room apartment with 3 cramped stylist areas. The stylist doing my hair was on the phone talking loudly for the entire appointment. The space was not clean and smelled like the fish that was cooked while doing hair. Children were running around, screaming, jumping on the couch, fighting, throwing things and had to be corrected multiple times. The chair I sat in was not salon grade and hurt my back. With all that being said, I clearly communicated to my stylist that I was unhappy with the service and environment. She became combative and left while I was talking. Another stylist then told me "well your hair is done" and another promised she would do better next time. I ask for a discount and was offered $10 off. I paid $230 plus another $75 take down fee (from another stylist) so I ultimately lost over $300. DO NOT GO HERE!
