I'm and avid movie goer and this was a huge disappointment. The IMAX theater had a lot of trash on the floor and the seats. The cup holders had liquid like they dont get cleaned between movies even though we were unable to.come in until almost preview time due to cleaning but it did not appear any cleaning at all took place. For the cost of the IMax, we expected recliner seats but it did not have any. The restrooms had no toilet paper, so everyone in the rr had to depend on others for assistance. This will be my last trip here. read more

I came here with my homegirl to watch the new KeKe Palmer and SZA movie, and I was impressed by how clean the place was, especially for the end of the night. Our movie started at 9:50 PM on a Sunday. The ticket prices seemed a bit steep--$35 for two--and we spent another $35 on concessions, which only included popcorn, a soda, and one Icee. A $70 movie night felt overpriced, especially for Mississippi. That said, the theater was clean, the seats were comfortable, and I felt safe, which made for a decent experience overall. read more

We went to the imax to see Oppenheimer. The venue is all you could ask for. Well almost. The food delivery took a long time. A few more staff here would be an easy fix with that. I would five this place 5 stars but one white female employee ruined it as soon as we got to the counter. I visted 5/31 @4pm. The lady said, what can I do for you? I said 1 for mission impossible and turned to my kid (adult) to confirm what we already discussed. She and I would watch Sinners. The woman immediately goes crazy. Well I'm gonna need to see ID. My daughter, with a shaky hand, shows her ID because the lady made her nervous. Lady says ok and now I need his ID. I said well he doesn't have an ID yet. He's a teenager. She said well he cannot watch the movie unless you go with him. We traveled 2 hrs to visit this place btw so I wanted to leave right away, but I didn't want to disappoint my kids so I looked to my son and he said. Well I can watch sinners. I looked at the lady. She said he cannot watch without an ID. She was so dismissive and rude with her delivery. At this point I'm getting upset, but preparing to just watch Mission impossible with him because that's what he wants to see on imax and we've all already seen Sinners. But one last time I attempt to understand why she's not allowing it. I say why can't he watch Mission Impossible? It's PG-13? She then softens all the way up and says oh I'm sorry ma'am. I thought you said he was watching sinners. I never said that. I said one for Mission Impossible and two for Sinners never making the distinction of which two and she didn't ask. I said no, but you could have asked for clarification instead of arguing with me. She went on to try to say I told her he was watching sinners, but she said it so quickly and with obvious embarrassment that I ignored it as she asked if we would be paying separately. I said no I'm paying for all of it. Which was equally weird. It was very demeaning and very cold and dismissive. My family and I didn't feel welcomed, but since we traveled so far we didn't allow her to completely ruin our experience. The remainder of the staff were simply amazing and the theater was very nice and clean. I saw the negative reviews before going, but i wonder if it's just that one employee who needs to learn customer service. I spent over $100 dollars there an honestly if I were closer to home I would have taken my money somewhere else read more

I have lived in the area for most of my life. I was here when this place first opened up and quickly became a frequent visitor, probably on a weekly basis or so on average. It's sad to see whats become of a place that used to be one of the "go-to" spots in town. Clearly, this place was hit hard when during the pandemic and never really got back on their feet. Sure, the staff is all nice enough, but the place is gross, the food is way overpriced for what you get, and the facilities are falling apart. Recently came again with my wife on a whim after getting dinner nearby. We were happy to overlook the expensive tickets prices and food costs as it was expected, but still.. WOW. Wife went to the bathroom while I was getting refreshments. When she got back she noted how dirty everything was, most of the toilet seats had damage or wear on them in various ways and the water pressure was off when she was washing her hands, saw a roach as well (always a great sign). Fast forward to us getting to the theatre where just down the row from where we planned to sit was a chair covered in a black plastic trash bag with an "out of order" sign on it. Both of us kinda made a face about how gross that seemed as we walked by and tried to laugh it off and sit down. Once we got comfortable, we realized that the reason for the trash bag, was the ACTIVE leak coming from the ceiling where clearly the pipes were dripping through down onto the seats below. Super distracting hearing a water drop fall down and hit the plastic every 4-5 seconds. While looking for the source of the leak above us, we also noted a few ceiling tiles were missing and some looked warped or damaged. Unsure if this is from a recent storm or what the initial cause is. But the feeling from our end was just that this was all a bit disgusting. It's crazy to pay the premiums for all the items along the way and then feel like you're sitting in filth. This place used to be a great place to enjoy with friends/family on the weekend. It's truly a bummer to see what it's become. We won't be back. read more

Subpar. We were not informed that the air conditioning in our theater was not working until AFTER we bought our tickets and went inside. A speaker in the back of the theater was making a cracking sound which distracted from the movie. They also had us in a theater that was noticeably smaller than the others. From where I was sitting it felt like I was watching the tv on the wall at my house. Next time will be going to the Renaissance Malco. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Madison is my hometown and I was so glad to see us finally get a Theatre. However, unfortunately I have seen it go down every time I returned home from Nashville. I went to see a movie on June 1, 2024 with my family to the 7:10pm movie , "Sight" that was in theatre room 7. The moment I walked in to the theatre room, I immediately smelled mold/ mildew. I suffered through it the entire movie and complained when movie was over. I also stepped into the next theatre for comparison and it didn't have a smell at all, so it did in fact smell like mold/ mildew in theatre number 7. I I spoke to the assistant manager named Julia who said all she could do was apologize, and asked if I wanted to speak to the manager to complain and so I did. His name is Paul and he was completely rude to the point of telling me that it does not in fact smell at all, which it does. Anyone with a decent sense of smell would agree. And anyone with allergies or asthma would have flared. His management skills not only proved that he in fact is argumentative and not accommodating to the customer, but actually downright RUDE. His head bobbing and announcing that I was wrong pretty much let me know that he has had zero training in how to handle management situations and it was way over his head. He reacted like a 14 year old and took it completely personal like I complained about his bedroom or something. He could have took it down a couple notches and it still would have been better received than saying that I was absolutely wrong, like I don't have a nose on my face. He was probably upset that he wasn't at home in his gaming chair playing his play station, and instead he he was at his big boy job, so the only way to enjoy himself is to play big bossman in his silly tie and talk down to a woman more than twice his age. I'm venting at this point , but Point being - Asthma and allergies to mold can be severe for some people and should not be ignored or dismissed. I'm a Regal girl first, then AMC, but when visiting other areas of the south I've realized that Malco is the only option in many cases. Well, I've survived as I find their prices are cheaper, the seats are nice, the venue is clean, and the atmosphere is great! This location follows suit! Friendly service and a pleasurable movie-going experience! I will say that a rewards program is much needed. It hurts my heart to spend money with no special perks and rewards to rack up. 1st there's a picture on here of super dirty floors...I'm guessing perhaps they were sweeping all the trash in one area to pick up because I've never ever in 10 years seen this theater dirty or with trash on the floor. Also keep in mind helpers, Malco didn't put the trash there, patrons did, so be kind and clean up after yourselves out there! The staff are friendly. The only reason I give them 4 stars is that more than once they've mistakenly given me the wrong soda. Otherwise I find it's always clean, the seating is comfortable, and going to the movies is always a pleasant experience. I really liked this theatre when it first opened because it's convenient to my parents' house, and when it first opened it was well staffed and nice. The condition has gotten progressively worse, and tonight I went to see Into the Woods (great movie!). I saw maybe 3 employees there, and when we went into our theatre there were popcorn pieces, popcorn containers, candy wrappers, and soda cups under every chair. I am not exaggerating. There were spills on the floor, and it was all around disgusting. When we walked out of the film (one of the last showings of the night), there were no employees in sight, and there was a huge pile of trash on the floor (cups, napkins, straws, etc). Nobody seemed to be sweeping or cleaning behind the counter. I am calling the management tomorrow to complain. As a former movie theater employee for another chain, I do not understand what they are doing. I know that the end toward closing can be crazy, but there is absolutely no excuse for the amount of trash that had obviously accumulated through the day. Had no one swept? read more

I went to see black widow this evening at this theater. Such a great theater. The customer service was fabulous! I bought my tickets online and when i got to the front desk i was confused on how to activate them. The staff member was very helpful and was very kind. The other reviews talk about the imax theater room and how it needs work. I went and saw Black Widow in regular 3D so i haven't experienced it. This is just from my experience. Growing up, my dad's place of employment would give 2 complimentary movie passes to children of employees for their birthdays. I'm in my late 20s now and have a small stack of them left over. 10 years ago when I had gotten them, using them was no problem. Unless it was a huge blockbuster event on premier night, you could use it on any movie at any time. Now, they have restrictions on just about every movie. So we call ahead to make sure a certain movie can be viewed with these; they give the okay so we head over. Now they're saying it's only certain times of the week you can use them. And it's the times hardly anyone can come and practically none of the movies have showtimes. Pretty sure they're trying to get out of acknowledging complimentary tickets while not outright saying it. I'm not paying $14+ for a movie ticket when I have multiple complimentary passes they'll never accept. Ridiculous read more

Not that there is anything wrong with the others that are in the area.... It's just that this one is the best. Good movies, good popcorn, good service. Easy. read more

This was my first and will be the LAST time I ever visit this theatre. The incident occurred on Thursday, March 30, 2023. I went to see John Wick ("JW") in IMAX, which was offered online; however, the agent informed me that JW had been relegated to the depths of the dank theatre. Please bare in mind JW premiered on March 24. Next, I ordered a hot dog, popcorn, and a soft drink. I stood at the counter and watched a Malco Theatre employee pull my hotdog out of the microwave and let it hit the counter. She then proceeded to place the hotdog in the bun when I informed another employee that I would not eat a contaminated food item. I went to place a plastic cup topper on my drink and later found out multiple times that it allowed Coca-Cola to spill all over my suit. It had an absolutely terrible seal on the paper cup. The interior of the theatre felt like they had the thermostat set to 80 degrees. If they were attempting a 4D experience, then it worked. I felt extremely immersed in the desert scene in JW as the sweat poured down my body. I was blown away watching the employee at the counter microwave my hotdog for what seemed like 15 minutes. The glory days of theatres have truly passed. I have a much better experience and screen/sound quality in my home cinema. I will not go back! read more

Living in Jackson, it can get pretty frustrating that we don't have our own movie theatre in town. We all have to trek to the suburbs to catch films when they come through. That said, of all the options we've got for places to watch a movie, Malco is by far the nicest. From the outside, it's almost laughably fancy. The white columns and its grandiose nature can elevate any date night, for sure. As far as prices, it's a bit pricier than the theaters in Pearl or Flowood but it's also quite a bit fancier. It's larger, more spacious and cleaner than any of your other options. The staff is always friendly, though they tend to be very young which is normal for movie theaters, I think. The auditoriums are huge and they're well insulated, so you don't have too many issues with hearing the sound from other films while you're watching yours. The food selections are a little pricier but you definitely get more selection here than you do at other theaters. They've got Dippin Dots! If you're looking for a nice, quality date night, head to Madison for dinner at one of the nice nearby restaurants and then catch a film at Malco! read more

As of the time I'm writing this review, the Malco is the newest theater in the Jackson metro area. The tickets are a little pricier and the food offered is a little fancier. You can not buy tickets via their website but you can buy them at the ticket office or from a ticket vending machine in the lobby. The extra cost gets you newer sound systems that aren't blown out yet and digital video. But don't think digital video is infallible. When you see color streaks on the screen or strange pixelation, don't be afraid to complain. Attending audience is mainly from the Madison area, but you will get all types watching movies with you. Parents still try to bring in kids to movies that aren't age appropriate. People still yell at the screen. Teens still giggle and throw popcorn. However, cell phone reception is muffled in most of the screens! read more

The only thing that was offputting was when I asked if they served wine there (there were tables everywhere that looked like wine should be served) and the guy went and got his manager like I had just told him something threatening. Weird. The bathrooms have lots of clean stalls, the place is spotless and they have plenty to snack on while you're watching cool movies in their comfy seats. Just don't ask for alcohol. read more

The new imax theater still needs work. The sound systems are not as powerful as they should be and there is a rattle in the ceiling when things do get loud. Compared to others in neighboring states, it leaves much to be desired. Here's hoping MALCO improves their sound. Their popcorn is still the worst in the area. Does anyone else find it weird that you don't see the Malco popping its own popcorn... Or maybe it's just me. I mean you smell the popcorn because it's being held in warmers...but you do not see them popping popcorn here. And since I don't live here in the Jackson area, my family says they don't pop their popcorn there at all, so is it weird...to me...yeah Anyway the Malco is big, is pretty clean, has decent screens, seats, and sound, and plenty of parking. There's pretty much the same type of staff here you encounter at every theater you go to... they can't believe they're working there, but it's a job... Tickets are 10$ in the evening for adults which is normal to me...but my sister says they've gone up on the price. The Malco is cool, and if our first goto theater doesn't have the movie time we're looking for, this is definitely our next choice, even though we have to drive a bit farther out. Other than that I would say I'm a fan, but the popcorn thing makes it just Ok in my book... read more

Went today and saw an early viewing of the new How To Train Your Dragon movie. The first 5 minutes of the movie we could hear but couldn't actually see the movie. Once they realized their mistake, instead of restarting the movie they just let it keep going. So essentially everyone missed the first 5 minutes of the movie. I understand that mistakes happen, but how they handled this particular mistake is why I'm posting this 1 star review. The movie itself is great! Go see it at another theater though. read more

Don't know how long this theater been here but it's very clean and has security flowing through, which is very good to control the out of hand kids/young folks. Every time the kids would leave out and then return, the guard was right in behind them checking on them. They were constantly running in and out. Good job malco! read more

I went this past Sunday and feel overall the theatre is nice but needs to update the seats. They were made of cloth and seemed dated and dirty. Also I was very disappointed in the outside of the theatre. There was trash scattered everywhere all over the ground. I feel management should be better than this.
