If you want a relatively affordable, standard massage without having to wait, this is a great place! I came here while visiting from out-of-state (chosen based on Yelp reviews and proximity). The front desk person was very friendly and my masseuse was polite, consistent, and attentive to the knots in my shoulders and neck. We didn't talk much, but that's OK. Note that you have to pay BEFORE your massage. You have a choice of three different techniques (Swedish, Thai oil, or deep tissue). I chose deep tissue. The pressure was good but could've been deeper in sections where I had a lot of knots. Masseuse didn't ask about the pressure, but she did ask if I was OK from time to time. I felt very relaxed and cared for. And my neck and shoulders feel freed up a bit! read more

Got two of us in a half hour later from when I called. Fah massaged my husband and I had Winnie. We both had the deep tissue with a mix of the Thai massage. My left shoulder was aching while on my stomach and I couldn't wait for Winnie to start working on it. The ladies came in and didn't say much, neither said anything but to say hello and to ask if the pressure was good and to have us turn over. It's busy and I see why. They turn out good massages. The couples room is too cramped for 2 massage tables and for the ladies to move around without running into the wall. My husband said this place is on the Rubmaps.com. Strange given the framed policy about harassment in the rooms, makes me wonder if this has been a problem here in the past or if it's all for show. My hubby showed me their FB site and the therapists on the site dressed in catholic school girl plaid shirts and wrapped shirts would indicate they do a bit more than the standard massages here for sure. Both of us enjoyed our massages despite not having initial chats with either therapist at all. I felt pretty relaxed and the Thai stretches helped my muscles and body some. Would come back again and would recommend Winnie and Fah. Would advise the staff to have the therapists take a minute or two to chat with the guests to make sure they know what to focus on during the session as it would have been nice to have Winnie work only on my shoulders, neck and upper back. Also the beds needs any blanket on top of the sheet, the sheet is so thin it's essentially transparent. Still had a good session tonight and will be back for sure. We both really liked the hot cloth to clean off the excess oil on us, was a pleasant surprise. One last note is that they dint take Amex, only visa, MasterCard or discover cards. read more

I really enjoyed my experience. I didn't catch my massage therapist's name but I thought she did a fantastic job. I think they've had some bad experiences and so, she asked me when I walked in whether I had been there before and seemed to eye me suspiciously and there were plenty of signs everywhere warning against sexual harassment but I acted professionally and she was very professional as well. read more

I came in here on the day before Labor Day. I normally go to essential, but they were booked. I'm a lazy man who hates driving anywhere longer than five minutes. Everywhere near me was closed or booked. So I called this place, expecting them to be booked up as well. They weren't, so I went. It was very tidy. I can't remember the lady who massaged me, but she was magical. I work 60+ hours a week, so I'm constantly knotted up and just an overall tense dude. She got surprisingly almost all my kinks out. I had a really bad knot under my right shoulder blade that she couldn't completely get, but nobody has yet. But she did whittle it down to where it no longer hurt to move. At the end, you're wiped down with hot towels so you don't leave all oily. I hate that feeling. They have a new customer for life. One of the best massages I've had. read more

My wife and I saw the grand opening sign for Mali Thai Massage the other day and decided to pay a visit. We met the owner, Prai, who gave us info about what types of therapeutic massages that they offered. She had worked previously with another place up the street but decided to open up her own spa. We were given a short tour and met some of the friendly staff. Since we were pressed for time, we were offered an introductory chair massage. Prai went to work on my back, using her thumbs and elbows on muscles I did not know I had. I was expecting to wake up sore the next morning but I felt great. Top notch massage. We will come back and try the Thai massage (which includes a lot of stretching). I will review that massage on another day. Terrible massage. I asked twice for more pressure from the therapist and she ok, but there was absolutely no change in pressure. The therapist didn't even ask where my problem areas were, thus did not customize the massage in any way. I guess you could say that I'm a bit of a Thai massage addict. I live in a part of Los Angeles where we have a Thai spa on nearly every corner and get a massage weekly (or more). After a red eye flight into Detroit and having gone a week without my massage, I found myself at Mali wondering what type of experience I could expect. Boy was I pleasantly surprised. The decor is soothing, the staff is nice and responsive and the massage.... What a great massage. My hips are loose, my back is freshly cracked and I feel like a million bucks. I got a 90 minute massage from Sara(h) and it was one of the best massages I've ever had. I love thai massage therapists because they massage everywhere but "THERE". It was definitely a whole body, firm massage and that's exactly what I needed. My shoulders had so many knots and they were killing me. She worked on them well and definitely loosened them up a LOT. It will take many more sessions like that to get them out. The price was very fair ($90), the place was clean and quiet. I definitely will be back. read more

I want to write another review for Mali Thai Massage and Spa, as Yelp decided my first review was to be hidden. I HIGHLY recommend Mali Thai. The facility is very Clean and inviting. You are always greeted with a smile and pleasant welcome upon entering. After your medical history is taken, you are escorted to a very comfortable and spacious private room. The massage table is heated so you are already relaxing when the therapist enters the room. I have always had the Deep Tissue massage, and can say that I always leave feeling so much more relaxed and calm then when I enter. My muscles feel less tense and I just feel great overall. The therapists are always professional and very good and what they do. I strongly recommend using Mali Thai as part of your general health maintenance plan or just as a treat for your body once and a while. read more

After reading many positive reviews my Boyfriend and I opted to get a 90 minute massage in separate rooms. However to our disappointment the massages were less that satisfying. When we initially got there we were greeted and signed paperwork. Then we got escorted into the rooms and told to undress and lay on the table. Typically prior to getting undressed the therapist should consult with the client to discuss the massage, areas to focus on, etc. However this was not the case. Which made it uncomfortable being half naked, not knowing what my therapist looks and having to raise my head to have a discussion that should have taken place initially. The sheets were extremely thin which made it uncomfortable to undress and lay underneath as you could see through them. Throughout the entire massage there was a lot of yelling and loud talking that we could hear. The massage itself was disappointing and was more like a Swedish rather than a deep tissue. I was specific on areas I wanted worked on but the request was ignored. As she went over troubled areas she would massage the knot for a brief second then go back to working on different areas. My abdomen was massaged which was unexpected and uncomfortable and resulted in my belly button ring falling out that day and haven't been able to find it. Mid massage she started playing with the temperature of the bed which made it cold for the remainder of the time. Then towards the end I was being wiped down with towels which were nice for a second but eventually I was being wiped with cold towels which was extremely uncomfortable. Overall we felt like the therapists were not very skilled. During the massage she would finish working on my back and move to my legs but not cover my back with the sheet. Then after doing my legs she went back to my back but kept my leg uncovered making it cold. Both of our massages were mediocre. The stretching they did was done incorrectly, the technique was terrible, and neither one of us felt like the therapists were qualified. read more
