We went into Sherwin-Williams on Caldwell Boulevard in Nampa Idaho, and ordered six colors of…read moresample paint. I could see they had other customers so I told them that we would leave and come back and he told me it would be 10 to 15 minutes. We went and got a drink and came back and waited at least another 15 minutes. I finally called them, trying to be considerate in my offer,, and told them that we could come back and pick it up tomorrow if they were busy. The man I talked to on the phone explained that the machine that adds the color was giving them a hard time and that they had two colors mixed and would try to get the others done soon after they get it fixed. I told him that we could come back tomorrow and pick them up. Then he repeated his exact message only this time he said it very, very slow as if I was having a hard time understanding. This did not sit well with me. I told him to stop. I told him I understood his message and all I'm asking is, can we come back tomorrow and pick it up? I felt like he was extremely condescending and rude to me. Especially because I was trying to take the pressure off of them by offering to come back tomorrow. I do not blame the whole business for this, it was one man, but it was extremely rude on his part. You don't treat people like this.

The store employee arranged for one of the color design specialist to call me on her day off. Tessa Schaecher was the designer and was absolutely amazing. I had walked in frustrated not know what exterior colors would compliment the other etc., and I had to have my mind made up the following day. Tessa explained different thoughts about the colors and answered a lot of my questions. She offered some beautiful idea combinations and her patience was remarkable. But now that Yelp has shown me the magic of smaller businesses, we looked around and found a Rodda down the road. We stopped in on a Thursday morning to find some samples and we're so glad that we did! We have now been in three times. The first two to find some samples and the third to place the large order for all the paint we will need to paint the interior of our house (GULP!) The staff here were so helpful. All three times we have been in, it has been the same lady and gentleman working and both of them have been awesome. They answered all our questions, without hovering or trying to make big sales. On my second trip in, I was looking for a paint that was somewhere in between two other colors and the gentleman poured over all their paint chips to find me the perfect one! And sure enough, that's the one that's going up on our walls! They advised us on the type of sheen to get for the three different colors (we have to do ceiling, walls AND trim...double GULP) and which ones would be the most durable to hold up against Hurricane (1 years old). They have lots of supplies, from rollers to paint brushes, drop cloths to paint clothes, thinners to stains. This will be our forever paint store! Thanks Rodda!

(snarky) I then waited for my paint and I said "oh, does this paint have a base coat in it?" (I meant to say primer) and she said "What do you mean?" (really snarky). I just walked out and said "I'll figure it out on my own". Not helpful at all. I would never recommend this establishment to anyone who is trying to find helpful staff and who are willing to answer all your questions without an attitude! Not all customers are paint experts.

When asked to color match a Sherwin Williams paint color, they said "we'll give it a try" and they really came through. They had everything I needed for my project and I was out of there in a reasonable amount of time. Here's the kicker: when I was running low on paint, I called and talked to Jim. He still had the codes in the system and said the gallon would be waiting for me when I got to the store! WHAT? No "I need a credit card to pre-pay". It was down home, small town customer service you don't get from the big box stores and they really saved the day and I really appreciated that. Kuna Lumber is my new go-to whenever I need supplies.
