And we had the bang bang shrimp, the waitress suggested their steak sandwich which my husband ordered and said it was the best steak sandwich he's eaten in a long time. I went with the jalepeno popper grilled cheese which was delicious but like a heart attack in a sandwich with texas toast and bacon- wow!! It was the french fries that were my favorite though, crispy not greasy and salt pepper on them made them just perfect. The service was spot on. The food is always what we expect and usually more. We were there on 2/13 so they had their "V-Day menu" available. The pasta dish on it was superb!! We checked this place out based on reviews and proximity to Summerville lake. We were advised we could sit wherever so we went to sit on back patio. It ended up being pretty warm as there were no fans running, but we stayed put. My friends ordered the fried pickles and they had a good breading and a bit of a kick. I chose the patty melt on Texas toast and fries. It looked pretty promising, but really lacked any seasoning so that was pretty disappointing. I thought the fries were good-they were hot and crispy. I tried one of my hubby's chicken tenders and it was also good. Our server didn't remove any of our baskets or empty glasses/bottles or ask if she could so we had very limited table space. It would have been nice if she had done so. The best part was seeing the deer in the field behind us-that made our night! read more

Usually the wings are great at Maloney's. Today was not one of those days. They offer traditional and grilled with various sauces. There is also a nice menu with a verity of other options that are usually good. But today is about the wings and I believe this is my first review of Maloney's. Not many people inside on this rainy afternoon. I think three or four total tables including those of us at the bar. Service is always great at Maloney's and today wasn't any different. The bartender/waitress was fantastic. Fast service and friendly. I made sure her tip represented that as well. The sports pub is lined with memorabilia most from WVU. Now onto the food. I ordered six traditional wings with garlic and Parmesan and six traditional sweet chili Thai wings. They arrived in a reasonable time. However I wish they would have taken a bit longer. The wings were not crispy at all and there was a lot of soft fat on the skin which told me they didn't spend enough time in the fryer. I can't say they weren't completely down but they certainly needed much more time to cook for my liking. See the I pictures. I opted not to sissy anything and tried to eat what I could. The garlic Parmesan sauce just doesn't work. Too much garlic and the Parmesan is shredded bag style and lacking flavor. Not good at all. The Thai sauce was delicious but again the wings just were not cooked long enough. Five stars for the bartender. One for the cook. We order take our from here alot as we live on the same street. Usually the food is great as the services. This eve we ordered 2 pulled pork potatoes, a pp boy sandwich and bacon chicken ranch quesodilla. We were so disappointed. The pulled pork tasted awful. For over a year we have been going here for great burgers and appetizers. Last month we stopped in to try out the rib eye steak, it was a mediocre cut at best but the service was ok. Today we went there for mothers day and with very few people in the place the service was SLOW and the steaks were nothing but gristle and fat. I returned the first one and the second one was not better. We ordered a desert but after a 20 minute wait we gave up on that too. Ambiance is a typical local bar--quaint with lots of televisions for watching sports and a patio/party room. Savannah, our waitress, was just as pleasant and accommodating as she could be. She even gave us a discount for having to wait too long for our food. Which brings me to the food. Not sure what went wrong. Was it the private party in the party room? Were they short a cook? Was someone filling in who had no idea how to manage a kitchen? Whatever the reason, the fish and chips dinner was cold, the chicken wings were cold and burnt, the two burgers were way overdone-- one was hot and crispy, the other was cold and crispy. I guess the winner was the chicken tenders dinner, which was warm, but I noticed my brother-in-law ate only half of it. He did, however, like the steamed broccoli side dish he got. If it wasn't for the fact that we were starving and had already waited half an hour for dinner, we would've sent some dishes back. We didn't even bother to mention it to the waitress as she didn't cook the food, had come to check on us once during our wait, and already given us the discount. Plus, she was the highlight of our experience there, and we just BBQ Burgerwanted to get going. Sadly, would not go back if we're ever in the area again, and cannot recommend Maloney's Pub for dinner after 7:30 on a Friday night. read more

I had the southwestern salad ~ only complaint is that there was no avocado, which it stated was part of the salad. My mate had steak sandwich with fries and side salad, and said all were excellent. Great patio area for a group. The restaurant inside and out are designed for patrons to have fun. Games on the patio with lights plenty of space for all ages, we had 3 generations. The drinks were excellent! I loved the Key Lime Colada As for the food, some of it was good and some so so. Everyone raved about the Buffalo wings and Bang, bang shrimp. The fried pickles and provolone poppers were over cooked. The Mountaineer ribeye dinner was very good so we're the burgers and nachos. Fun location for vacationers. read more

Ordered Buffalo Chicken dip for appetizer, the chips were stale and soggy. The steak hoagie was awful it was burnt crisp more like burnt bacon. Great place my brother N law took us here on a Saturday evening around 18:00. They were having a service for someone that had passed away. So the back area was full witch gave us a party of 5 limited seating. Plus to boot a 15 top birthday party right behind us. Server was great and everything we ordered came out perfect, considering how busy there were. I had chicken bacon quesadilla, was bomb.com. Cocktails were a bit over priced for the portions. Seemed to be a wait for the bathroom entire time we were there, so know this if your planning on drinking there. We would definitely go back, maybe next time won't be super busy. We've been driving through Summersville for years, usually stopping at the Applebees, which is a fine place for the chain. But, tonight we tried Maloney's Pub. It was excellent! Great bar environment. A little bit of music, but not too loud. The locals were friendly, and not too loud either. The grilled wings, and the onion rings were great! Everything was cooked just right. The service was great too. Stephanie took care of us, and she was right there anytime we needed something. I wish I had a bar like this back home. Stop in when you get the chance. This is why Yelp is great....we find ourselves driving from Canada back home to Charlotte and end up in Summersville to break up the trip. Naturally, we check with Yelp to find a place for dinner and find Maloney's. It was the only place with more than 1-2 reviews, so we knew it was probably a hidden gem. (it was pretty hidden, too) The outside is not much to look at, except for a cool lamp and a wooden side. Once we got inside there were TVs everywhere and an outrageous amount of WVU paraphernalia. Despite the decor, the interior was really nice and clean, and there was a pretty cool back deck. A nice bonus of Maloney's was the Summersville prices. (We got lucky and came on $.65 wing night) We had a few rounds of beer, chicken wings, and nachos, but the bill was only $30. The food was very good, too. I recommend the garlic sriracha wings. We had a great experience at Maloney's the food was great and the servers/clientele were extremely friendly and accommodating. (and they even had all of their teeth!) Definitely check this place out if you find yourself in Summersville, WV.....for some reason. read more

If you're in the area, Maloney's is a must-eat place. The French Dip was amazing and well-worth the wait time. Chicken quesadilla appetizer is a great dish to start out the night. Atmosphere was fun, very nice staff and easy to walk right in for a table. Prices were good and so was the banana dessert! We'll be going back soon for some of the best food in town.
