While on a road trip through WV, we stayed in Summersville for a night. I came across The Vault on Main and decided to give it a go. We really enjoyed this neat restaurant. It was semi-classy but casual. I loved the idea of repurposing a bank into a restaurant. Our waitress was great and fairly quick with service (there were maybe 4 other customers at any given time). We ordered some drinks, our meals, and a charcuterie board. The everything was cooked perfectly and the charcuterie for two was definitely worth it! It was a nice display. I did think that the entrees needed a little more seasoning. After your meal, you can go down into the *secret* speakeasy which was definitely the highlight of this place! Jazz plays on the screen while you can sit next to the electric fireplace and chill out. It's the same spirits list as upstairs in the restaurant so it gives you an extra opportunity to try more drinks. Overall, really cool restaurant and good food! read more

Interesting place. The setting is in a 117 year old former bank complete with an antique vault converted into a wine vault. We caught them at a slow time during the week so we cannot really say how service would be when it's busy. The young waiter/bartender was friendly and bored so he was very attentive. We started with the caprese that included four nice sized tomato slices, four small mozzarella slices and a smattering olive oil and tomato but tasty overall. We shared the black and blue burger that came out a bit overcooked but had good flavor. The house made fries were hot and fresh. We topped it off with a slice of blueberry lemon cake that was tasty but a but dry in the center. The former "speakeasy" in the basement wasn't open but contributed to this restaurant's unique make up. One downside is limited parking nearby including the non functioning parking meters. Unfortunately we didn't know the meters are apparently no longer used and contributed 75 cents to this small town. read more

July 30, 2021 Walked out after waiting for over 45 minutes to even get our drinks. The poor waitress told us they were short handed and that the cook had just quit. Wish they had put a sign on the door. Seems like a great concept if they could get their act together. And maybe get a dumbwaiter for the poor waitresses. Cool building. Great service. The appetizers is where it's at! The mains were ok. I thought the jerk fish was a little dry. Steak was good. Baked potato didn't have anything on it. Not sure if I just didn't see the butter. The charcuterie board was amazing, especially the pepper jelly fig jam and mustard. The moules frites were good. The mussels itself was ok but the fries were really good and the bread. The cheese flat bread was also really good. Definitely worth visiting again. read more

First time here. I grew up in Summersville and returned for a family visit; wanting something more than a pub sandwich or straight off the Applebees menu, I was pleasantly surprised to see an upscale restaurant open in town. The service was fast and friendly, the atmosphere, cleanliness and ambiance was as good or better than I've encountered in any major US cities and above some I have dined in in Europe. The smoked fish dip was good but I had my heart set on the calamari; it was highly recommended. The smothered chicken Florentine was very filling and the artichoke touch topped off a very nice entree. The wine selection was ample and the homemade desert cake was delicious. The price is appropriate for the quality of meals. I look forward to trying the les moules frites next time and dining on the sidewalk. Decided to try a new place. The atmosphere was very nice and the wait staff were pleasant. My husband had the pasta primavera with shrimp. It looked AND tasted delicious. The shrimp were huge. I had the Greek salad with grilled chicken. It was so moist and flavorful. Service was a little slow but they have 2 tiers of a restaurant to serve. A few suggestions - maybe with the pasta bread or pita points could be served or at least a small salad. The chairs were very hard to sit on. They looked new just no padding. Great concept of a restaurant, inside an old bank. Amazing menu and interior decor. But the good stops there. Service was lackluster - water was never refilled even after we asked. Waitress didn't know about the drink specials that were advertised on their Facebook page. Bartender never made the advertised drink before, so first time trying and took a long time. And we were charged full price (we didn't bother to ask for correction because dinner had taken so long already). Salads we ordered were different from the menu's list of ingredients. Romaine lettuce became iceberg lettuce. Avocado slices were none existent. Overall, what started out as huge potential turned into disappointment. read more

The food is good but WTF is with Summerville and crap customer service. Waited 30 min for water. Only brought half of them said they would be right back and didn't for another 20 min. Complained to the manager who looked like they were 15 years old. Finally ordered. Food took 45 min to come out. My stake was over cooked anther persons shrimp came out raw. I think we were there for a total of 3.5 hours. Do yourself a favor go to McDonald's at least it won't take as long and you know what you're getting. read more

There can be nothing negative to say about this place. It's a higher end restaurant with reasonable prices for the style. The food is incredible! I have not ordered anything there that was even mediocre; ALL of the menu items are fantastic. The steaks are better then any higher end restaurants I've eaten at. The beef and pork chops are locally raised. Amazing taste. Chef Libby and the rest of the staff are fantastic. Service is phenomenal. I organized a retirement party for work and OMG. They as for us to send in pre orders to make sure everyone got there orders at the same time. I found that to be a good idea. But when we all got there the table they sat us at was so tight that we had no room to even move. There was 15 people for this retirement party. We did not get our food after two hours of arrival. First Impression regrettably was not a lasting one. The hostess quickly took us back to this little room that only had seating for like 4-5 and that was our section. I was thinking we scored as this was our seats for the evening and we were in the Vault. Things quickly went down hill from here as the waitress finally arrived after waiting for about 10 minutes or more. She spent more time grabbing herself than handing us the menus. Unpleasant to say the least. The biggest problem was just all the waiting from the start to the finish. We waited about 45 minutes for a drink to which finally the bar tender brought it out to us. Considering this place opened in the midst of a pandemic it's really amazing what they've accomplished. The food is a nice variety of salads, sandwiches, charcuterie, and a nice selection of steaks. They have a nice selection of wines and beer as well. The weekend specials are where it's at though. Locally sourced cowboy cut ribeyes up to 3 pounds (!!) and the best fall off the bone ribs you'll find in Summersville. The atmosphere is really unique being inside a beautiful old bank building even if does struggle to find its style. The food is top notch, the service varies depending on the server you get, and the prices are a tad on the high side for some items but not unreasonable. Overall it's a great addition to our town and a place everyone needs to give a chance. Support these local businesses and you will find the true treasures of our town! read more

Sub par quality and over priced. Chicken and beef were over cooked and dried out. Fries were good. The Martini wasn't mixed correctly. The wait was long. The waitress didn't ask how we were, if the food was enjoyable or if we needed anything... like more water. The kicker was that it was priced as a high end restaurant, but Applebee's has has better quality. The the space is great for a restaurant, being in a old bank, but they need to really hone in on their identity. My opinion, drop the fancy aspect and price and be a fun restaurant in a cool old bank. If they want to be an upscale restaurant they need to extensively train the the wait staff, bar tenders and cooks on presentation and high quality. They would also need to buy higher end tables and chairs. I have high hopes for the restaurant and owners, really think it can be an incredible and unique place that you can't find anywhere else. We found a pretty nice restaurant in Summersville called the vault. They had great food there but I couldn't pass up the hamburger with pimento cheese spread, fried green tomatoes and bacon on the top! I also had a great old fashion there. 3 of us had dinner here 2 nights ago. it's a lively re-use of a great building in this town. previous visit was superb in all aspects. This time one dish was sub par. The Chicken Picata was not good. It looked bad, also. the sauce was grey. Lemon was not detected, the chicken was tough, which made it hard to cut, and the uneven table didn't help matters. the ambient noise was distracting. the other people served were happy with their food. one had butternut gnocchi with spicy sauce and shrimp. and the othe4 Pasta Primavera with shrimp. read more

Was looking forward to trying The Vault tonight. As soon as we were seated at 7:30 we were told by one of the owners that they had ran out of steak and that the chef would try to thaw more out. A few minutes later the waitress came to the table and told us that there were no steaks left. I have never been to a restaurant where it was only one entree available to choose from besides salads or a panini. It is a nice place but if you don't have but one entree to choose from maybe you should make sure to have plenty. It really spoils the experience of trying a new restaurant when the only entree is sold out. read more
