Yesterday, I visited my new favorite Mexican restaurant ever. I had avoided this place in Fayetteville because I was not impressed with the previous Mexican restaurant that was there and didn't know a new one had opened up. Apparently Tequila Taco Bar has been open for a year. Everything I had was absolutely delicious. Prices were comparable to other Mexican restaurants. I had a Bahama Mama, diet coke, fajita burrito, and Texas dip. The Texas dip is the equivalent of the Jalisco dip at El Jalisco. They taste almost exactly the same -- which is a good thing. Annnnd (drumroll) they are actually CHEAPER at Tequila Taco Bar. No joke. The dip is cheaper. Jalisco dip is now nearly $13 at El Jalisco. I'm a mom. You know I compare prices. The burrito was the most glorious burrito I have ever seen. That thing was beautiful. Absolutely friggin' delicious. I couldn't eat all of the food. I was so stuffed. This is all I ate all day long and I still haven't eaten since. Super filling!!! However, I am already craving it AGAIN! I may go next weekend. Gosh, I wish I could go today. That is just how good the food is! The restaurant itself had a cool theme. Loved the vibe. The employees were friendly and attentive. They had that yummy ranchy white dip that Rocca's has that they serve with the tortillas. I should have brought that home with me. Mmm mmm! What's that stuff called anyways? If you haven't eaten there yet, GO! I command you. This place is a life-changer... and my new favorite Mexican restaurant. read more

We tried Tequila Taco Bar while in Fayetteville for a hiking visit to the New River Gorge National Park. We stayed in Fayetteville, where there are only a few non-chain food options. Tequila Taco Bar is one of those options. The service was prompt and friendly. The atmosphere had a little local flare mixed with Tex-Mex. I had the tequila bowl with chicken, which was a health-based choice. The accompanying sauce (cilantro, I believe) was flavorful, and the chicken had fajita flavoring. Overall it was pretty standard fare for this genre of food - worth getting while in Fayetteville. read more

I am very confused how this place had 4.7 stars. I couldn't even give it 3. For context, we are from Texas which has amazing Tex-mex / Mexican food. So with that being said, this is probably one of the worst Mexican food places I have tried. Neither myself or my fiancé finished our food because we just couldn't finish it. I will say that the chips and salsa was very good. Overall everything was lacking flavor. The meat, veggies, queso and tortillas m. I would NOT go here if you have another option! Service was good. This place was busy which is a good sign but they got us seated fairly quick. Service was slow but friendly. The portions were huge for the price and tasted great. Stopped in for dinner when we're visiting the park. Right off the main road as you go into Fayetteville. The place is really decorated with paintings and other wall art. We sat at the bar and ordered a couple of beers. They came out quickly with ice cold skull mugs. They delivered chips and salsa with a jalapeño cream sauce. Chips were light and fresh and the salsa delicious. We ordered steak tacos and an a la carte beef burrito. My wife loved the tacos and the burrito was good. Wow wow wow!! We had a group of 10 and I think we all agreed this was the best Mexican restaurant we have ate at! The drinks were beautiful and delicious (I only had water but my friends ordered plenty). There were 2 different dips for the chips instead of just salsa - I loved the cream dip (not sure what it was but it was like a sour cream and seasoning type dip). For my meal, I ordered the pollo palapa and I was practically scraping the iron cast skillet it came in, desperate for every last bite! I could eat that meal every single day! We had all gone white rafter earlier and I will say we ate our plates clean but no one complained they were still hungry. Service was the best it could be for a table of 10 and full house in the restaurant. Not perfect but we made do and it didn't ruin our time one bit. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area or even just passing through. I sure wish this place were local. BTW, menu was huge. Very impressive. Great margaritas, shrimp tacos and prices! After a good hike this felt like such a reward. Both lime and peach margaritas were very good!

This place was recommended by another family on our rafting trip. We went for lunch and were surprised to see an additional $6 added to our bill for veggies and a side of rice we didn't ask for. My wife and I are both vegetarian so we asked for no meat and paid more than we would've if we just ordered from the main menu as opposed to the lunch menu. We were headed to a sandwich shop, but there was no parking left. As we came down the hill, we saw plenty of parking for this place and took a shot. What a great stop!!
