    My couch
    Joseph S.

I tried to donate a couch. I called and waited 2 weeks for a pick up. So when they came out I was told they needed to send a picture to their supervisor because of a stain. When they called back to the guy I was told they didn't want it be of the stain and they had to much inventory. I find it disgraceful. Why didn't they tell me that 2 weeks ago? I've called goodwill and am set for a pickup in 2 days. I would tell you to find another place to donate you items. Here is a picture of my couch that was deem not go enough to sell.

    Overpriced crap.

I just can't with this place anymore. I've been coming here for years and over the last year or so they've gotten so out of touch with their pricing. vase I found on line for $25-$49----tbey've priced it for $175. WTH??? This is all over the store with everything. I kindly asked a lady today who was doing their pricing and after she basically sneered at me she told me maybe I should volunteer if I have a problem with pricing. Uhhhh...ok. How about take your attitude home if you can't be nice--being a volunteer isn't license to be rude to customers--it was a question. It's a thrift/charity shop and you guys are ripping people off. No wonder I see stuff still sitting on shelves after months--overpriced and some broken---asking ridiculous prices. Thrifting is dead---thanks Tik Tok.

If you consider shopping to be exercise, this store can keep you walking for awhile. Mam's is one of the larger resales stores in the Houston area. One thing I love about Mam's is there organization; Yes, organization is a great thing in a resale store. All of the large art/frames are together, furniture has it spot, seasonal, clothes, and jewelry. Which is great, if I am not in a seasonal mood, I can skip that section. Another thing that makes me happy is their monthly discount system. Every resale/consignment store should be using this system (ah-hm-hm...On Consignment in Dallas). All in all, fun shop on a Saturday afternoon.

Pavement provides a valuable compromise between thrift and retail stores. Everyone loves the idea…read moreof thrifting, but it's often time-consuming and requires a sharp eye to spot the hidden gems. For a markup price, but still no where near what you'd pay at a retail store, Pavement filters a lot of the boring thrift items out. That way, you're more likely to find something you like without having to look too hard. Some of the finds here are quite impressive. I've bought a couple of graphic tees over the years, never paying more than $15 each despite them looking new. One of them has even landed in my rotation about once a week. Pavement's role as a trendy semi-thrift store works well for its location; I often find myself popping in for only 20-30 minutes, either right before or after grabbing a bite with friends, because that's all the time I need to browse the already-curated merchandise. In short, this is a great place to upgrade your wardrobe without breaking the bank or combing through hundreds of pieces at a time. The chances of walking out with something in hand is still hit or miss, similarly to any conventional thrift store, but I like my odds way better when I walk in here.

Everything is clearly marked, priced fairly, and the inventory rotates quickly. Used bikes shouldn't be $200 as that's ridiculous. A new bike would cost that much. A few of the furniture is outdated and not in a vintage way, but at least from the 80s. Some of it looks like pieces from popular furniture stores and they were unscathed. I did see a familiar piece of furniture that is up to date and since all furniture is currently 50% off, they are reasonably priced to sell. The staff are talkers so beware if you thinking you can casually browse without being spoken to. Staff members seem to like to follow you around just to spark up a conversation with you which can be annoying. It happened to my friend and I three times. Twice by one staff member who was strongly trying to convince us to buy an article of furniture and another time by guy who followed us onto the second layer of the store. I even noticed that did it to other consumers as well. The purse and shoe collection appeared to be well stocked with the selection being very nice from cowboy boots, running shoes, to leather engraving purse. Huge store.
