I have been shopping here since 2019 right after Covid started. I started shopping online through their LIVE shows on Facebook. I have never been disappointed by anything I have purchased online or in store. Their store layout has definitely improved throughout the years, they have opened a bigger Boutique. The selections in the Boutique are reasonably priced and you no longer have to worry about being in a tight location like previously. All the departments are well kept and you will find something good every time you shop. They have specials daily which you can find out about through their social media posts. The parking lot is no longer an issue as they have completed their renovations. I love the selection of children's books and adult books which are priced at low prices. The toy department has a lot and the board games are probably my favorite. The employees and volunteers are so nice and helpful. If you are looking for a place to volunteer, this is the place for you. Just ask one of the store employees. I enjoy their 1/2 off quarterly sales and their sidewalk sales they occasionally have. They also have CDs, DVDs, vinyl's, electronics, furniture, and tons and tons of clothes. They are priced individually and like I said, look for the deals of the day. They have evening gowns and I have even seen wedding dresses on occasion which are displayed on the windows. They have a second location in the Heights across the street from Hogg Middle School which is also a great location, just smaller in size but also great. I took a video of my last visit to the toy department and it shows the selection of what you will find at Mam. Some will still be In new unopened conditio. They make sure all the pieces are in the box of the games or puzzles for the ones that have been opened. read more

So they added a beautiful new "boutique" area and with the addition and all the clean up of the store they tacked a 20-30 % increase to their prices... So saw a pair of pants in the boutique and a brand I had never heard of.... And they were $84.99... I had been in the fashion industry for 30 years ..so perhaps they googled the brand... who knows! But are you kidding me...it was not like a pair of YSL..they were used. The furniture was beat up and not well stocked.. I don't know..I just have no need to go back here... sad but true. read more

I've driven past this place so many times and always said, "I need to go there" and finally, after yearsss, I went! I was very surprised by the selection they offer. A little bit of everything: apparel, furniture, accessories, decor, kitchen and seasonal items. I got myself a cool, new painting for $12 (the original Kirkland price sticker was still on the back for $29.99)! The colors were vibrant and hummingbirds are my favorite. Looks great on my wall! The cashier was so cheerful and even suggested we sign up for emails to get notifications for certain discount days. Apparently the day I went, it was 20% off the entire purchase! Super rad. Wanna know something even better?! I started following their Facebook page and MAM actually stands for Memorial Assistance Ministries- "Services and trainings focused on workforce development, financial stability, mental health, and more." I LOVE that. Doing good for the community! I saw a solid white tea/espresso cup with saucer set of 4, by Crate & Barrel for $2/piece! Great selection with a wide variety. My friend found high quality: Lennox Christmas Stoneware (9 plates for $130); I found a beautiful solid wood velvet lined keepsake box (20x6x6) for $5. Plenty of well-ordered clothing, housewares, and furniture, without that thrift store smell. It also has a boutique section. Parking was scarce but additional parking was available at St Christopher's just down the street, which also had a resale shop. read more

Good selections, large stock, decent resale quality and prices, very interesting things pop up and get snatched up. By me, if I am quick. Across the street is the Episcopal church resale, another especially great shop. Kill two birds with one stone. These two simulate Montrose where excellent resales are bunched all over the 'hood. I tried to donate a couch. I called and waited 2 weeks for a pick up. So when they came out I was told they needed to send a picture to their supervisor because of a stain. When they called back to the guy I was told they didn't want it be of the stain and they had to much inventory. I find it disgraceful. Why didn't they tell me that 2 weeks ago? I just can't with this place anymore. I've been coming here for years and over the last year or so they've gotten so out of touch with their pricing. vase I found on line for $25-$49----tbey've priced it for $175. WTH??? This is all over the store with everything. I kindly asked a lady today who was doing their pricing and after she basically sneered at me she told me maybe I should volunteer if I have a problem with pricing. Uhhhh...ok. How about take your attitude home if you can't be nice--being a volunteer isn't license to be rude to customers--it was a question. It's a thrift/charity shop and you guys are ripping people off. They also got a security guard, who interrogated me today as to why I'm standing outside the store. (I was waiting for the store to open in a few minutes.) I just saw a USED cookie jar from world market, priced for 45.00 in this store. The same cookie jar on line new for 37.00 NEW. Thrift is used... no one should pay more than 5.00 for something donated to you. You're becoming like over priced GOODWILL. Do better! read more

This place is just OK. If you want furniture or book, books, books and more books; then this is the place for you. The furniture is overpriced. The clothing in the boutique is overpriced. Buddy, they think they got the good stuff too. Then the clothing and shoes on the floor are overpriced and cheap. No bargains to found here. I went two weeks ago and plan on coming back today! They have a huge location so spend time to look around, it's worth it! They have a great selection of books, some almost brand new! I found a couple of children's story books for future baby and a 112 CD and Destiny's Child's CD, I was super excited that I forgot the check for the damn CD, the DC one ended up being just the CD case, but it had the insert still, so oh well, I'll just find a CD online lol. The selection is not bad, and the customer service wasn't that bad yall. If you consider shopping to be exercise, this store can keep you walking for awhile. Mam's is one of the larger resales stores in the Houston area. One thing I love about Mam's is there organization; Yes, organization is a great thing in a resale store. All of the large art/frames are together, furniture has it spot, seasonal, clothes, and jewelry. Which is great, if I am not in a seasonal mood, I can skip that section. Another thing that makes me happy is their monthly discount system. Every resale/consignment store should be using this system (ah-hm-hm...On Consignment in Dallas). All in all, fun shop on a Saturday afternoon. read more

I'm completing community service at this location and I haven't had any problems with any of the staff until today simply because I showed up to community service 15 minutes early and left on time at 12 I was talked to very rudely for no apparent reason all because I wanted to be clear on some rules so that I know what to do , moving forward.the lady I'm not sure who her name is assumed I had an issue with the rules that takes place at the resale shop there's rules everywhere and I don't have any problem with however I just asked a few questions so that I can be clear. Think about your grandma and all her friends putting together a massive Thrift store. MAMs has elderly people as volunteers and they have a really friendly chit chat atmosphere. They even had homebaked cookies for a dollar donation ! these cookies were definitely grandma quality and Come from decades of practice ! But going back to the store, they have a huge selection of books, clothes, antique items, etc... The book section was the most organized Ive seen at any thrift store rivaling an actual used book store. They even have a big selection of antique books for less than 2 dollars each. the only real downside (or maybe upside) is the selection of stuff is definitely donated from an older generation. So prepare to travel back in time to a thrift store from the eighties with homebaked cookies ! read more

I made a FIRST TIME trip to this establishment this evening and after a 35 minute drive because I chose back roads. I entered the store and browsed for new furniture(a coffee table to be specific) but my interest went towards couches then towards mystery books but I was pulled away by my partner to view an item that would possibly be purchased. As I walked past the register with my cart while using my phone a short black woman with a small cheetah hat and a cane shouted to me WHILE she was finishing up another customer "excuse me young man" TWICE and assuming who she could've been talking to I turned around and she rudely communicated to me "were about to close in 30 minutes!" and I found it offensive and unprofessional. As a black man who works and pays his dues I found it rude she chose to PERSONALLY inform me they were closing soon. She then chose to walk from behind the counter and approach me but LUCKILY I had already decided to leave and I informed her have a nice day and asked if I could have her name she remained silent for a second then replied "what's your name?" and I kindly told her as I was walking out then we both exchanged we should have blessed days and that was the end of any communication with her. She then appeared to try and have the store's security intervene but I was safely buckled in my car leaving the worst 15MINUTES of racial discrimination I can experience. I wish so bad 0 Stars were possibly but I remember God is on my side and I'm sending love to whoever desperately needs it. read more

Went for the first time a few weeks ago and was disappointed. Was unable to purchase an item because it was not tagged (a non name brand shirt). A female security guard walks around like she can actually do shit about anything and means mugs everyone. I really hope she's getting paid at least $35 an hour, because thats the least I would take for an EJ. A lady volunteer assumed I only spoke Spanish. Another Asian lady that works there proceeds to try to take the cover off my sleeping baby's stroller as if to confirm I actually had a baby? I had to very FIRMLY tell her not to get near my baby. I'm a little perplexed by all the 4 and 5 star reviews. This place is a pretty average resale/thrift store. There's really nothing fantastic about it...yes, it is organized nicely and yes, the employees are friendly but to me it just seemed like another Goodwill. It's always fun for me to browse these types of places and search for that hidden gem to bring on Pawn Stars or to purchase kitschy crap for your home but I really don't think this place is as spectacular as the reviews on Yelp make it out to be. read more

I found some good things and some things I thought were good, but not so much. Awesome pair of leather boots, but too much in my mind for a thrift store purchase ($30). A Tonka truck I bought for my son ($15) which didn't even work after replacing batteries (broken parts and missing pieces). I purchased a very pretty vintage tea set. But the sharpie used to write the price stained the saucers! Luckily after trying peroxide, bakingsoda, and acetone, a ceramic grout cleaner removed it after soaking for hours. I was impressed with the vintage book selection. Not many children's clothes, though. Overall, a decent thrift store, but inconsistent pricing. read more

Awesome thrift store! This is by far one of the best thrift stores in Houston. Its well layed out, has a big selection and very neat and organized. The book selection is phenomenal! Probably the most well organized thrift store I have ever been into. Plus everything was generally very clean and organized. Was able to walk out with lots of picture frames and old board games, each for only a couple of bucks or less a piece. I was tempted to buy a bread maker, and probably will go back at some point and buy one. Overall, will make a point to stop by here occasionally to see what goodies I can find. They also sell homemade cookies and other confections by the front counter just in case you are needing a sugar fix. read more

This place is far better than Goodwill because they actually help the neighborhood and don't keep the profits for the owners. Believe me, I did the research and found out that many non-profits pay the management a large salary without helping those they say they help. Great place with great people. read more
