It just seemed a little meager.

When I mentioned to a friend that I was headed to Maine he said I HAD to try a Maine lobster roll in the place that gave it it's name. So when I saw lobster rolls on the menu I thought of him. But ordering a lobster roll in a place where half the clientele is wearing camo and blaze orange seemed very strange. Coastal food and hunting are two things that have rarely intersected in my life. The roll was good but not amazing. I was honestly surprised by how small it was. $20 for half a sandwich and six onion rings seemed a bit steep no matter what the sandwich was filled with. But the service was sweet. I was especially grateful for the ability to borrow their phone considering I had no cell service and hadn't yet reserved a hotel room. That was very helpful. I walked out not especially thrilled with my meal but thankful that I now had a place to lay my head.

Mama Bear's on Main St. was warm & comfortable & decorated for Christmas. MB herself was welcoming & served me. Lunch Special was Lobster Bisque with Grilled Tomato & Cheese $10.95 ~ good ole comfort food. I also bought a Lobster Roll and Spaghetti & Meatballs for my next meals during the snowstorm. They were very good.

    Mama Bear's! Great food!

Stopped here on our way to Quebec! We had the signature sandwich, which was a turkey ham combo with homemade onion rings! They were fabulous!

This was the first place we eat out at on vacation. They are closed on Monday as many other places…read moreto eat in town. ( I say many but there is only 4 restaurants in the town) This place is more like a sports bar, serving pub food. But they do have dinner specials daily also. I was reading the special board and I saw a swordfish dish. Also on the special board was chicken parm, so I knew what my wife was getting. So I ordered the swordfish entree. Other dishes ordered at the table was 2 chicken parms and a fried fish and seafood platter. I think someone order a corn chowder for a app also. Dinners came out and they looked good. I ordered the healthiest plate at the table...I guess that means more Shipyard exports for this guy...HA HA. Getting back to the dinners I was eating my fish and got the the middle of it and it was cold, which meant it was raw. This is exactly why I tend NOT to order fish out, whether it being a freshness issue or people just don't know how to cook it properly. I alerted the waitress and she took the whole plate from me, sort of wish she left my baked potatoe so I had something to eat. As I was waiting for my dish to come back my dinner guest didn't care too much for their food. In fact this was the first time my wife didn't like chicken parm. The seafood fried platter was probably the best thing on the table BUT it definitely wasn't fresh seafood, it was all frozen syscos products. So the waitress brings my dish back and it was the same piece of fish that I was eating , along with the same baked potato, the cook just put it back on the grill. REALLY? You really can't give me a whole new meal? I didn't bother eating it and figured she took it off the bill. Well... she didn't, I didn't raise a stink because I figured I am on vacation and I just won't bother coming back here. But common sense the waitress should have offered me something else or take the meal off the bill. She did neither..oh well, far better places to eat at in Jackman Maine. Go to the Steak house or Mama Bears of you want a good meal.

So we went back to schmooses after our horrific waitress experience at Four Seasons and this experience was worse than our other 2 visits this year. We walk in and the place was half full and this overwhelmed waitress tells us that it will be at least an hour before we get served. Well after 70 minutes or so our chips and salsa were finally served. Our dinning experience lasted about 2 1/2 hours. There are major management problems in most of the area restaurants. The only restaurant in Jackman that is actually ran properly is Bishop's and their not really even a restaurant. We know that there isn't much going on in Jackman during the off months but I can only recommend that the business owners visit real restaurants outside of Jackman or they won't be business owners much longer.

Upon our arrival our waitress, Colleen, seemed a little disorganized and took awhile to grab us menus. We looked past that though for the time being, my friend ended up ordering a bud light. When he got his beer he tried it and it was an IPA. Had a darker tint to it as well, when the waitress came back my friend nicely asked what kind of beer it was and she said bud light, but became argumentative about it immediately which was not our intention at all. We simply just wanted to know what it was because it was an IPA. After wanting to argue and tell us it wasn't an IPA, she leaves and comes back and tells us that it was in fact an IPA and gave us a bud light. We thought it was all over after this, it wasn't. She then continues to act rude throughout the whole interaction and was not attentive to our table whatsoever. Then it came time for the bill. She quickly comes over and says yeah I'll get you boxes and then runs off, we wanted to let her know we wanted 3 separate checks. When she comes back we let her know this and she says well I'll try to remember what you guys had, when we offered to write it down for her since we didn't know it was such a hassle. We then decide to pay for it on one check, when my friend nicely goes down to do this she says "Yeah, the way you should have done it in the first place." We finally leave... it should be over at this point right? Well it wasn't, when we are walking back to our car from the gas station, she screams over another group of people at us "THANKS FOR THE 10 PERCENT TIP!" After the extremely rude and uncomfortable service, she's lucky she even got a tip! I don't know if she was having a bad day, but this is not someone I would want in the hospitality business. We left extremely disappointed and will not be back. It's too bad that a staple for so long has turned into a place that leaves a sour taste in your mouth

They're is a deck with tables and lots of folks standing on it with cocktails in their hands. When we went inside we were immediately sat at a booth. As we walked past patrons who were eating, the food looked delicious and generously portioned. Our server took a minute to come over to us, giving us a chance to look at the menus. We decided on a Reuben $20 and upgraded to the onion rings rather than fried that cone with it. That was an upcharge of $4. The Etienne came on marble rye and was grilled to perfection. I think the sandwich could have used a bit more corned beef and dressing, but it was delicious. I gobbled it up! The onion rings were top notch, crunchy batter and thick cut onion. They were fried too the perfect golden brown and tasted so good. We also ordered the Mac and cheese which came with a side salad that was fresh and a breadstick that was warm, but didn't seem scratch made. The mac and chess was creamy with s but if crunchy topping, lots of cheesy goodness and my personal favorite, cavatappi pasta. Highly recommend this spot. My photo only shows 1/2 of my Reuben and an onion ring because I forgot to photo before eating...ooops!
