They forgot to put my sandwich in my Uber Eats order, I called to ask, the front desk girl did not apologise and said that the order arrived late which I have no idea how that explains why the sandwich was missing from my order when it was placed on Uber Eats at 12:15 pm. There's nothing late about that. anyway, I usually order from this place and enjoy the food but I had a horrible service over the phone. The girl working did not say I'm sorry or apologise in fact she put blame on me. then instead of offering me a refund or my money back, she said I could place a second order on Uber Eats and order a cookie and then they will give me my sandwich. LOL you want me to place a PAID second order- pay taxes and fees and driver tip all because you rushed and didn't pack the bag. Listen mistakes happen and that's totally OK but if I call and you're gonna be rude about it, After, I just spent money on an item. I didn't get that's not cool. Absolutely amazing sandwiches. This place is quite busy so I encourage calling ahead to order or using the online app. The online app menu is a little bit confusing. For instance, it offered lettuce for +.50 for my turkey wedge even though the wedge came with lettuce. You might need to call the store to clarify. Regardless, you will LOVE the food. read more

Mama Carmela's in general is an ok deli. There service, wait time and reliability seem to be declining. Absent repeating yourself numerous times, expect that there is a reasonable probability that your order will have a mistake (will forget the cheese on the omelet, will get a hashbrown vs. homefries...i.e., something will annoy you when they forget it). I have no doubt that with a little firmer of a management hand that they can improve their reliability. Otherwise, I like most of the staff, the breadth of the menu, the community feel and the location. Hopefully they can improve service levels. read more

We ordered from here through Uber Eats. The prices were not bad, especially for the area and the times we're in, so we had decent expectations. Unfortunately, the food was a big letdown. Everything arrived cold, overcooked, and burnt. On top of that, it was salty but somehow still had no real flavor. I also asked for cheese and it was not added. Portions were smaller than expected for some of the items. We ordered one platter, two breakfast sandwiches, fries, and two drinks. The order included two eggs with home fries, rye toast with butter, bacon, and a sausage patty, plus a bacon egg and cheese on white bread and another on a hard roll. The hot chocolate was literally a cup of hot water with one Swiss Miss packet, which was surprising. My iced coffee came black with no cream included and it tasted burnt. Overall, the meal was not worth what we paid and most of it was honestly inedible. I really wanted to like this place because it has great reviews everywhere, so maybe this was just a really bad day for them. Still, based on this experience, I don't think we'll be ordering from here again. read more

This deli is an EXTREMELY solid choice. Definitely unique in their specialty of chicken cutlet sandwich, sandwiches, I went with the firehouse. It was good, not great, Jarred jalapeños took away from the quality of the cutlet, and a little too heavy on the generic chipotle mayo. I'd bet the parm and some of the other sandwiches are bangers. Also seems like breakfast is a winning play at this deli. Also got the Italian, which was a damn near perfect sandwich. Soft roll, excellent meat to sandwich ratio, thick slices on the meats, solid fixins, you love to see it. Would definitely recommend if in the mood for a cold cut. read more

Today I order a depot sandwich add lettuce tomato and buffalo. I pick up my sandwich get back to my office and no lettuce and tomato. I go all the way back wasting my lil 30 min lunch break and tell them it was wrong. They make another sandwich I get back to my office and this time they forget the buffalo sauce. So now I don't have what I ordered and my lunch break is over. I understand you guys are busy but please slow down and pay attention. Fine, let's see what her lunch options look like. How do 65 sandwich/grinder options grab you. They run the gamut from favorites like an Italian combo and Meatball Parmigiana to more exotic types like a Caprese Panini and the Calabria with a chicken cutlet, broccoli rabe, melted Provolone and hot fried peppers and oil. We wanted to pick up something to split for dinner later in the weekend and went with one of our favorites - a Meatball Parmigiana Grinder ($9.95). It was big. It had plenty of sauce and cheese, and most importantly, plenty of big meatball halves. Absolutely no skimping on the meatballs. They were plentiful and tasted great. The Italian bread was top quality as well. Half of that grinder was absolutely enough for a satisfying dinner portion. This is a cute place on the corner of Post Rd and Noroton Ave in Darien and seems to draw a lot of local traffic. Inside it is fairly roomy and has a large selection of both cold and hot subs and Sandwiches. I decided to go with the Chicken Cutlet Parm on a Wedge with fries. The prices are extremely decent for the location and the quantity is very generous as well. As for the taste, yes have been craving it since my last visit, so I fully endorse! read more

Went in on a Sunday. And they decided to close before their posted hours. When I knocked the woman came to the door and Yelled WE'RE CLOSED! When I said why they were closing early, she yelled again. WE'RE CLOSED!!! We drove from Westport to Darien to try this spot only to have them turn us away before they closed. This establishment is so friendly that even IF the food sucked they'd get 5 stars. But... the food is actually really good as well so it's even better deserved. The staff is always so friendly from the moment you walk in and the cooks offering free pasta occasionally while you wait is so generous. The new owners have taken the food over the top. I have had many items from there & I have yet to find anything I didn't like. They offer some specials that no one else offers that I know of. I had the chicken cutlet with Broccoli Rab & hot peppers, I don't like broccoli Rab because I have found it bitter but not theirs it was great! Another suggestion is the egg salad which I never order. I had the opportunity to try it its fantastic. I am from Westchester County NY & I now make the trip up there often for lunch, it's worth the trip. OH yeah, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the great friendly staff. read more

A very good deli located on the southern end of Dairen, so likely close to the Noroton Heights stop. Regardless, it`s not in a crowded part of town, which I like. The food is very good, we just grabbed some breakfast sandwiches after a road race nearby. And they really hit the spot for a fair price, particularly for such an affluent area. The icing on the cake was the incredibly friendly cashier, which I`m guessing was "Mama Carmela". Whether that is accurate or not, she helped make our brief stop a very positive one. And I am looking forward to stopping by here in the near future and give their lunch offerings a try. read more
