The egusi is great and fufu. But can someone explain why the meat is so tough??? The fish has a lot of bones, cow foot which is usually pretty tender and chewy type of meat (gelatin like) is like unusually tough. Is this a preference on cuisine cooking or am I just enduring tough meat and a bad chef? But the soup itself is delicious with a nice spice. read more

The owners were very thoughtful, kind and accommodating to me and my partner. We came to visit this restaurant for a first time around and 12p. The head chef was walking through the restaurant and told us that he was grilling the jerk chicken on a barbecue out back. "Lots of restaurants will sell you their jerk chicken but will actually prepare it in the oven instead of over a fire grill--the way jerk chicken is supposed to be made," he said. I really enjoy that the food you receive here is consistent. The menus has less than 30 items so it's very to mess up and I appreciate that. This location is better than the location on white plains road. It's larger and the staff is much nicer. I would recommend they invest in decor as it's really feels like a grab and go. I visited this restaurant last week Friday after suffering from a weeklong craving for jollof rice. A few of my West African friends said they tried it and it was pretty good. I ordered the jollof with beef and plantain. I enjoyed my meal for the most part. I just think the chef is a little heavy handed with the oil. Overall nice flavors. This is a cute place to stop in a grab a bite. We chose to dine downstairs where they had nice music playing and a full bar. I prefer the vibe downstairs. The customer service was good. Just a heads up. This is a cash only establishment. They do have a atm in the front and there is a chase bank across the street. I can see myself revisiting this place. read more

Terrible food and service. I don't go here regularly but the last two times I went within a span of about 2 months, the food has been pretty nasty. I believe they changed owners these past few months and the new owners are definitely lacking. I usually order the basics, jollof rice or rice and stew. Jollof rice is hard and super oily. Not much flavor to it. Stew is the same, not much flavor just oil. They need to do better as they are on of the African restaurant in the area. read more

I wasn't amazed with the food at all. I usually go to Accra .. I think that's how you spell it.. on Burnside Ave and to me, there's no comparison. I didn't like how the pasta and rice and beans tasted; as though it was over cooked and the meat was extremely tough; both the chicken and the beef. I will say that the young woman they have working the counter was incredible. She handled my ignorance of African cuisine with grace and even went above and beyond for me by checking inventory for my drink. Selassie at the register Is cool as hell! He gives the type of service that makes u actually want to be friends with him. The food is good as well. The egusi and banku is amazing. The okro soup is good. The jollof is not bad, but not my favorite. It's cash only but they have an atm inside. Downstairs has more places to sit. Overall I recommend it. The man that works in the restaurant was very rude to me over the phone just because I was trying to find out why my order was canceled. You have to order from Africandishout.com and it was easy until it canceled my order after 30min of waiting. It said canceled by business but when I called the guy said I had to called the website talking about some " I'm not going to stay on the phone with you for 1min, I have other things to do then try to explain this stuff to you". We later went up to the restaurant and he apologized to me and was shocked that I was white and gave me a drink on the house. The food was alright. It was Ghanaian African food and I'm Yoruba so some of the flavors were a miss for me personally. I did like the fried yam,plantain(very soft though)and fish very good flavor and stew. The fufu was too soft and didn't really taste like anything(flavorless) the spinach stew was very good and came with a lot of meat which was nice for the price. Hands down my favorite African ( Ghanaian) Resturant in the Bronx. Compared to the ones I've gone to.. I enjoy their service and friendly atmosphere. I've been here more than many times and have not had complaints in terms of food or even my stomach turning whatsoever! Welp...I was Praying the Food was going to be Outstanding considering when I walked in the empty restaurant at 1 pm on a Saturday afternoon and Greeted the "Counter Person" with a Warm "Good Afternoon", she responded "What Do You Want?". But Nope! Prayers went unanswered. The taste of the Food Matched her Energy... Tough...No Taste...And a Whole Lot of Nothing! The Goat meat was Seasoned well if you dipped it waaaay down in the Container past all the Oil. But it was tough!... like Pitbull pulling on that Rope Tough! The Jolloff rice tasted like regular Seasoned rice and the Pepper Sauce tasted like Dirty Cat Litter Smells. The Fufu... well... that was the best part and it had no taste because it's not supposed to. Nevertheless... I was Hungry so I ate Some of it.
