Watched an employee drop a box on the floor for cinnamon buns. She picked it up and served the bun in it. The customer saw her drop it so they just walked out of the store. I ordered an original, hold the olives and signature sauce. After a fairly long wait I got my sandwich boy it looked good! All freshly cut meats on a tasty rye. Imagine my sadness then when I realized it had olives on it. Not a big thing though, as these mistakes happen. I took it back to the window and pointed out it wasn't supposed to have olives on it. The girl I spoke with asked to see my receipt showing it wasn't supposed to have olives. I showed her the receipt and it showed 'no sig sauce' but didn't say anything about the olives. Apparently I also ordered a side of attitude without realizing it because she got all huffy and demanded to know what I wanted her to do about it. I politely told her I thought she should remake the sandwich. I thought her head was going to spin off as she grabbed the sandwich from me and threw it into the trash. The new sandwich I got looked just as good as the original minus the olives but I was almost afraid to bite in to it for fear she spit into it out of spite. read more

My gf looks forward to a turkey original whenever we are in a town with a Schlotzsky's location. We don't have one in Des Moines IA, but she was raised in Oklahoma City. Big mistake hitting this one. She ordered a medium turkey original no tomato. Not only did the sandwich have tomato the ratio of the meats was off and the turkey tasted like that cheap Buddig meat you used to be able to buy for 49 cents a pack. Bland af. Not sure if this was just a bad day, or if this is another case of a restaurant cutting costs and changing to cheaper product. I've never been a Schlotzsky's fan so I guess the one good thing about this visit is I won't have to drive her to another one for a while. First off, it took about 20 minutes all together to even place an order (and not due to it being busy). Second, two of the three sandwiches we got were made wrong, which caused even more wait time. When we said something about it, one of the workers in the back complained out loud. Then, for a cherry on top, the cookies in our kids meal were raisin, not chocolate chip like we ordered... The only worker that seemed to feel bad about it was the lady that took our order. Overall this place needs some work and we won't be returning to this location. read more

We ordered off of their website and had a few issues with the order, but that aside the food was great and the portions were big. I ordered a salad, and my companions had some of the sandwiches. Everyone was please with the meal and my salad was big enough to save half for the next day. We waited 20 min in the designated spot, with zero contact, until we went inside to ask where our order was, and it was waiting inside... We tend to have issues like this with restaurants that use Grub Hub; never a seamless experience. With that said, I'd still choose Schlotzsky's for a sandwich. read more

Wasn't that great. Had the roast beef sandwich which was fine but not great. My daughter had a the kids grilled cheese - there was barely any cheese involved and it was mostly just a giant piece of bread. As you know, I am a sucker for good service, by people who truly care about their product. My fiance went to college in Indiana and there was a Schlotzsky's near his campus and he and his parents went there habitually every time they came to visit. So, for my first time at Schlotzsky's he insisted that I take a photo out front so that we could share it with his Mom. I stood out front and made a cheesy grin... and THUMBS UP, of course. We went inside and upon approaching the counter to order our food - the person working there said "The owner would like to give you a free Cinnabon for taking a photo out front and helping us out." Very cool. We ordered our food, it came out pretty quickly. My fiance got a tea that was WAY too sweet, and he took it up front - and instead of making him pour it out into the tray, the woman offered to take it from him and give me a brand new cup so he could get something fresh. I got the steak and avocado sandwich. Let me tell you, the steak that they are serving on sandwiches here is pretty crazy tender and delicious for being mass produced for a sandwich shop. It's REALLY good. The sandwich was delicious and paired well with a good broccoli cheddar soup. The owner approached us and thanked us personally for taking a picture with his store because it put a smile on his face and reminded him of how excited he used to get as a kid when his family would take HIM to Schlotzsky's Deli. He talked to us for a while - was incredibly kind and pleasant and its that kind of stuff that pushes me to give chain franchises an extra star of two --- because there are Schlotzsky's all over the place (Though unfortunately, no longer in STL) but this puts his franchise apart. If I were basing this review solely on their food, I'd have given it four stars. The fresh veggie sandwich, was a nice change from the typical one you get at places like subway. The bread is really the main attraction. It's a round wheat bun that tasted fresh and warm. The insides were comprised of cheddar cheese, cucumbers, red onion, tomato, black olives, lettuce, and a fat free spicy ranch. It's really one of the better fast food vegetarian sandwiches you can get. That being said, their employees needed some work. The cashier was very unfriendly and didn't seem to have any interest in answering my questions, since it was my first time there. Even when I picked up my food from the window, I thanked the woman and she didn't even look in my direction. While the sandwiches are a little more expensive than the average fast food restaurant, they're good enough to return, although I'd try another location. read more

I recently visited this establishment for the first time, and as an out-of-towner, I have to say my expectations were high. I was pleasantly surprised to walk in and find great signage, colorful picture showing was several of the sandwiches looked like, which is always a plus in my opinion when you have lots of different ingredients to choose from. The staff was friendly and they even gave me a free cookie for coming in for my first time. Everything was delicious fresh. Would definitely return. The only negative was that they did not have more of a selection for a vegetarian. I think with a few more options, even a veggie eater like myself could eat here. read more

I have diet restrictions and it was nice being able to get food that I could actually eat and didn't have to send it back repeatedly to be remade. My food was made exactly how I ordered it. My first and last time visiting Shlotzsky's. I order a salad and soup and my bill was nearly $20. I could have had a steak dinner for what I paid for this fast food restaurant. The potato soup was fine but my "bowl" was a small cup and the cob salad had a cheap grocery store style luncheon meat, which I can't bring myself to finish. I went here for the first time ever this last Sunday evening. My wife and kids have been here before and they really liked it. I thought I'd give it a try since they liked it so much. I will say, I did enjoy the sandwich I ordered, and it looked like a very clean restaurant, but other factors caused me to not have a great overall experience. First of all, the menu items have no clear description of what the items are, or even what's in them. Secondly, the little girl behind the counter, who clearly appeared that she didn't really want to be there, and acted like we were holding her up, was no help at all. She mumbled very rapidly and under her breath, ingredients in a couple items, but seemed irritated when I asked her to repeat herself. It was even harder to understand her with her elbow up on the register, and her hand up against her jaw as she spoke. Maybe some better signs with ingredients descriptions, and some staff retraining will help give customers a better experience. Since my wife and kids like it, I guess we'll be back sometime, but if these two issues are ignored or not addressed, it may be my last time there. Other than this, the food was good (could use a bit more condiments though, my sandwich was a bit dry, and I had to add extra mayo, mustard, and cheese when we got home), and it looked like a clean restaurant. read more
