I went here on a Friday night and I was very surprised how empty the restaurant was. The service was good the waitress was very attentive. The drinks were good no complaint there. There were 2 birthdays being celebrated and my compliant about that it every time the crew was going to sing to the person's table they would blast the music. The calamari were good well seasoned and I ordered 2 sushi rolls which was the main reason I wanted to visit here because I remembered how good it tasted the last time I ordered it. The rolls were good but not as I remembered them. My date ordered the yucafongo with lobster and shrimp, he really enjoyed it the portion was big and the flavors were all there. To be honest I don't think I will Be returning here based off the vibes and the space needs to be refreshed.

For $200 my finance and I left still hungry and extremely disappointed... Our chicharrón own was drier than the Sahara Desert. We expressed to our waiters we did not care for it, but, to no avail. The Empanadas were sad and looked nothing like the photo. The filling was flavorless and disgusting. My Mofongo came with what I can only assume is Alfredo and a cup of cheese sauce on the side, chicken was inedible. Got a side of rice, which was also extremely bland. My fiancé got the steak with onions, terrible. Save your money go to Jose Tejas down the street.

I came here for a friend's birthday celebration. When we got there, the music was egregiously loud. Later on, they turned it down a bit, but it was still hard to hear each other. We had calamari to start out. The breading was light and flavorful, but the calamari was a bit chewy. For the entree, I shared the puerquito (slow-roasted pork) and beef burger with my bf. The burger was dry and overcooked. The bun was hard, as if it was heated up in the oven for too long and then left out for a bit. It was probably one of the worst burgers I've ever had. The puerquito was huge and could've fed 2-3 people. I would expect a slow-roasted pork to be softer and juicier, but it was dry unless you're eating straight fat. We asked for some sauce to go with it which helped combat the dryness. I really liked the rice and plantains though. Ambiance was casual, party/club vibes, with a DJ. The service was good. We came in a group of 11 and the food came out at a rate of 1-2 entrees every 10 minutes. So, some people finished their entrees before I even got mine. Overall, I wouldn't return to this restaurant.

I don't know how they stay in business. The food has no flavor. This place is always empty. Ambience and decor is nice. That's about it. I prefer Noches de Colombia in Iselin. Better food, vibe and music.

They do a great Sunday Brunch! For 2 hours, you can enjoy a buffet of traditional Dominican dishes including an omelette bar, made to order pancakes and eggs and pasta station. It also includes unlimited mimosas and rum punch. The music and ambiance is definitely a vibe. The only downside is the staff has little to no English speakers so communication can be a little tricky if you end up needing something and don't speak Spanish.

Bad service, dirty cups, dirty plates, overcooked food. The manager didn't even want to take it back because he touched the food saw it was overcooked and we had to pay for $55 dollar plate. The waiter said you could take it home with you. Waiter disappear for long time we had to go get him. Oh and on top of that no steak knife's I had to struggle with mine

The food was terrible at this place. I ordered a "Pollo Criollo" and they brought it without the mushroom sauce because the chef made that decision on his own after seeing that he had no more, the beans and rice were cold and the avocado was hard, not to mention it took them 45 minutes to bring our food after we ordered. Never coming back here

Mamajuana is a new spot we checked out because the old restaurant Ivy Stone that was here was HORRIFIC so my expectations wasn't that high but I went in with an open mind. It was a Wednesday night and the restaurant was mostly empty. We had a party of 10 for my cousin birthday dinner and they sat us right away. Ordered apps which was tasty and cooked properly. We also ordered drinks in which the strawberry margarita was on point. The wait staff was friendly and pleasant which made the experience better. Nothing like a good waitress. We proceeded to order entrées and everyone said the food was good. My wife ordered a burger and she said it was cooked and season good and I ordered the skirt steak which I was pleasantly surprised that it tasted as good as it did. It needed some extra salt and pepper but overall good job chefs. I asked for medium and it came out medium. Sometime you have to send steaks back because the chefs over cook the temp but this steak cook was right on. Overall I give it 2 thumbs up as it's a 180 degrees turnaround from Ivy Stone. Only thing that I can say negative that it was a little slow getting the food out with it being so empty on a Wednesday. Wonder what the wait time would have been it it was a Friday or Saturday night bit other than that it's seems to be a nice spot to come have some drinks and some dinner. Will definitely try and come back before the weather gets cood.

Unfortunately I cannot give a good review to this mamajuana location. They have messed up several of our order and billed us for more food than we ordered. We had to continually remind them of things we did not order. The server refused to fix a double order of drinks of Mama Jersey even though he knew he did not serve anyone else at our table did not drink it. We ended up paying not to cause a scene but it's upsetting they didn't prioritize the customer at all. The place was empty since I arrived at 4:30pm and left at 8. That should've been my sign not to patron this location.

So I planned a brunch here last Sunday 12/3 for me and my girlfriends. A little celebration for my birthday. It was my first time so I didn't know what to expect. I'll start with the Pros. The food was okay. The stew chicken was delicious. The service was eventually good. The waiters kept us topped off. The bottomless mimosas were very good. And the entertainment was cute. I really enjoyed it. Now to the Cons. When we arrived it was only four of us but they allowed us to be seated as it was a two hour brunch that ended at 5pm. However, as the last of my guests were entering they refused to pour our drinks until everyone paid. That upset me because they had my credit card on file as I made the reservations and paid the holding fee. It made me angrier because there were two other non black groups who I did not witness them require the same. Needless to say, that shall be my one and only visit.

It was my first time coming to this place after being invited for a birthday lunch. Only one other group of people were in the restaurant at the time we went (also having a birthday). Even though there was barely anyone inside they still had the music blasting anyway lol. The service was really great and we were accommodated quickly for everything we asked for. The only downside was that the food wasn't enjoyable for me. The ceviche didn't really taste like anything that I've had prior and the plantain chips which came as a side looked like they were from those chip bags you get at the bodega. My entree was the chivo (goat) and it wasn't half bad. Flavor was good but quite dry even with the sauce they put on top. Almost reminded me of the chivo I had when visiting the DR. Drinks were really good and strong. Overall, this place is ok. Great for grabbing drinks and dancing, but I wouldn't come here to just eat.

Mamajuana Cafe is a restaurant chain w/ eateries in Washington Heights, Queens, The Bronx, Paterson, NJ and the one a friend + I visited in Woodbridge, NJ last month. My friend took me here for A Late Saturday Night "Belated Birthday" Dinner. We drove out there and Mamajuana Cafe in this specific location has free parking as they have their own parking lot. The Days Inn is also in this area. Mamajuana Cafe in Wooodbridge is open until 3am and they have a limited late Dinner Menu after Midnight. The late night menu includes a nice selection of Cocktails but only Appetizer- Style /Finger Food Items. I ordered a mixture of Chicken + Beef Empanadas ($14) and we both had Boneless Chicken ($12). The Passion Fruit Margarita ($10) and Areito Cocktail ($11 - Wheatley, Vodka, Peach, Trie Sec + Passion Fruit Puree) were both made well. My friend enjoyed the Red Sangria ($11). Colorful table/ place settings, vibrant decor in the form of lighting arrangements, fabric table napkins + table cloths, etc. Mamajuana has a lively bar area. Mamajuana also has both Indoor + Outdoor Seating w/ the outdoor seating option including hookah for those that enjoy this activity. We were comfortably seated indoors where I enjoyed the DJ playing fantastic reggaeton, salsa music, merengue music, etc. When he played Joe Arroyo's "Rebellion" + Daddy Yankee's "Gasolina" I started dancing in my seat and it made me further enjoy my overall experience at Mamajuana. The staff that seated us were very nice. Our Server was attentive and kind. Mamajuana Staff also seemed to enjoy the great music + overall vibe. Mamajuana Cafe restaurants within the various boroughs have different hours of operation w/ Mamajuana Woodbridge and Mamajuana in Washington Heights remaining open late until 3am and 4am. Website- www.mamajuanawoodbridge.com. Instagram- @mamajuanacafewoodbridgenj. One can make online table reservations + provide their email address for special promotional offers.

Is Saturday night a dance club vibe? Looking for a place for a girls night of DDD - drinks dancing and dinner. Which location is best for dancing if not all? Thanks

The digital menus provide descriptions in English and have photos of every item, so don't worry if you can't speak Spanish. The atmosphere is incredibly lively, so it's perfect for celebrations. They have a DJ that pumps out some great Latin tunes! You can tell everyone (including the servers) are having a great time. Definitely not the place for an intimate conversation, so come earlier if you want to avoid a lot of noise. We ordered... *Pechuga A La Colombiana $18.95 - My entrée was grilled chicken breast topped with creamy mushroom sauce and maduros (sweet plantains). It came with the option of two sides, so I chose tostones (fried plantains) and arroz blanco (white rice). First of all, the portion size was HUGE... enough to be split into two meals!!! The chicken was seasoned with cumin, scallions, onion, and more. The tenderness of the chicken and the richness of the sauce paired so well together. The tostones were deep fried to perfection with a crispy and salty exterior. The white rice was fluffy and cooked with oil, salt, and garlic, which complemented the entire meal. *Bistec A Caballo $17.95 - A hearty dish! This was grilled steak topped with fried eggs, served in hogao (tomato and onion sauce). The steak was juicy, tender, and well marinated in a blend of spices. The hogao sauce was tangy, savory, and rich. We also got a side of frijoles (beans), which were really good. *Frozen Mango Margarita ~$15 - The drink was sweet and refreshing as expected, but the tequila was weak. It could've used another shot.... Or two. Noches has won me over with their great prices and generous portion sizes! It's now my go-to spot when I'm craving a satisfying Colombian meal.
