Quick recap: - Food: Mediocre - Portion size: Average - Service: Slow - Environment: average hotel restaurant - $: High - Perks: N/A More details: I went there for dinner twice. Had a House salad ($9) - average and a Caesar salad with chicken ($18) - average. The food is average at best. The portion sizes are average. The presentation is mediocre. The staff was nice but super slow. Overall? Mediocre food. Nice staff. Slow. Overpriced. Would only go if I did not have another option, plus the room service has a different menu....

Located at the Hilton in East Brunswick this is where you have breakfast at the hotel as well as lunch or dinner. The service is spotty depending on when you come. I came for lunch and had the caesar salad with chicken. It was massively overdressed but the chicken was cooked nice. Overdressing a salad is a fundamental reason why a lot of salads are not very good. I also started with the cream of mushroom soup. It had a bold mushroom flavor and a creaminess to it that hit the spot. This is not my favorite type of soup but was surprised by it in a good way. This isn't 5 star dining and so don't expect that. When you are stuck at the hotel with no other options give it a try. It will fill you up at a good price. Hotel food usually stinks anyway but this one is edible.

This place inside the Hilton East Brunswick is an adequate choice for a meal. If you are staying at the Hilton, it is quite convenient. I was staying at the Holiday Inn Express and this was still the only walkable option for me in this ex-urban location. This restaurant is rather typical of scaled-up hotel restaurants in that it is slightly overpriced and, at the same time, somewhat lower in quality. I would, again, use the word adequate. I had two appetizers including a salad and the Acapulco Shrimp. Both were pretty good and I especially enjoyed the shrimp. The service was actually good and I had no complaints about that aspect. But the bill with food, drink, tax and tip was over $30. It was a below-average value in my estimation when all was said and done. All things considered, I think a 3-star rating is fair as this place is really one either for those wanting convenience or who are a "captive audience".

Even with a dozen people on Saturday night, we managed to get seated. With the wide variety of menu choices, everyone was able to get exactly what they wanted. One very interesting dish I hadn't thought of was the chicken pot pie, which sounds very pedestrian, but wait until you see it. Amazing. I ordered the Ahi Tuna salad and it tasted every bit as good as it's picture-perfect looks. Superb service, plus literally everything that came to the table looked like a magazine picture. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Over time, I've noticed a clear decline in quality at the New Brunswick location. In contrast, the Hillsborough location has remained relatively consistent, which makes the difference even more noticeable. To be fair, I'm willing to give a pass on the slower service during this visit since we were seated outside and it seemed like they may not have been fully staffed for that area. That said, the bigger issue was the food. We ordered ravioli and chicken parm with pasta. The ravioli sauce was extremely watery, to the point where it resembled soup rather than a proper sauce. The chicken parm was overcooked, as was the pasta. It's disappointing to say, but based on this experience and the overall downward trend, I don't see myself returning to this location anytime soon.

I just wish there was something fresh or crunchy to balance out all the soft textures from the bread, beef patty, and cheese. I also added beef bacon to my burger, even though it's not listed as an add on the menu. I really wish more of these newer smashburger restaurants had lettuce and/or tomatoes as an add on topping. That would help cut through the grease and make the burger feel a little lighter. The restaurant is very clean and bright, I liked the atmosphere while I was in there and the staff were nice!

I sampled the steak and thought it was nicely cooked, loaded with flavor and also very tender. The brie was tasty, and didn't seem to heavy, which was surprising as it was deep fried. If I lived in the area, I'd be a regular here.

Our party was situated downstairs at a nice round table. This really helped us share the seafood tower and pass clams around. Our group ordered the small seafood tower, and it was everything I could have dreamed of. It had a little bit of everything. The presentation was flawless. I am still in awe of the lobster. Dinner was also very good. Just about everyone ordered something different, and we left pretty happy. The only issue was the music. I don't know if this is the case for the entire restaurant, but the downstairs had bouncy ukulele covers for the entirety of our time there. It was also a bit too loud. I felt like I had to get up to hear someone sitting a few people away from me, or speak too loud to for shared space because there's a bouncy ukulele covers of Without You by The Kid LAROI. (No, that's not an embellishment. That actually played.) All in all, we had a great time, great food, in a beautiful space. Natalie was a very attentive service. But please, maybe some different music?
