Nice place with plenty of parking. Sat in the bar area since I was alone. Asked for a hugo spritz which is not on the menu...made to perfection...but what was even better was the bartender cared if it was good or not and was ready to make a change if needed. For the appetizer I had class casino...now dont judge me but I am not the person that likes bacon on everything so I didn't feel that it needed the bacon, but it was good either way. For my entree I had the ribeye, garlic mashed, and sautéed broccoli. My favorite thing was the broccoli...I just love my veggies! But the potatoes also amazing. Now for a steakhouse yhe steak wasnt the best. I tried to add some salt to bring out the flavor a bit, but it was just bland...the cooking temp was good just the flavor was missing. Going to Chris Michael's for the first time, I had no expectations, however I would've expected more from a steakhouse with their prices and their local competitors. My boyfriend and I dined in for dinner one weekday evening. The restaurant was very quiet this night as we were one out of only 3-4 tables in the entire dining room. With that said, you would think that the food would've have been exceptional since they had plenty of time to perfect their dishes that evening, but that was not the case. We ordered a bottle of red wine to begin a couple appetizers, the Caesar salad and the baked clams, both were very good. For our entree we ordered the Porterhouse for two and their mashed potato side to share. We ordered the Porterhouse to be cooked medium however most of the steak came out well done. They were kind enough to have the steak remade for us but the second time around, the steak was lacking in flavor, probably because it was being rushed. We appreciated that they remade to steak to our desired temperature but with so many comparable steakhouse and restaurants in the area, we found the experience lackluster and probably wouldn't return. read more

Absolutely Superb is all I can about CM Steakhouse! I visited two times a month apart from each visit and baby the steak was cooked to perfection both times! Chef Kiss! The Sangria was Delicious! It wasn't the worst steakhouse I have been too, but was no where near the best. For the money I would go to another establishment in the future as the food really didn't wow me. Pleasantly surprised! Impromptu date night, called last minute and made reservations, staff was so sweet, great seating, not too crowded, food was A1. I am giving them 4 stars because I enjoyed my food and the waiter was super funny and kept us laughing and eating all night, but the experience with the manager was a little different. On a Saturday night we went to celebrate a friends birthday with about 11 people. To start we had calamaries, grilled octopus, sushi and fire cracker shrimp. Everything was delicious, but that grilled octopus was amazing. I still think about it. Most people ordered steak as their entrée. My friend and I ordered the steak, cooked medium, different cuts. I had the filet, she had the ribeye. My steak was perfect. When she cut into hers it was fully cooked and dried. We told the waiter and he got the manager. The manager was respectful but wanted her to cut the steak in the middle before taking it back. Horrible! It made her feel embarrassed. And the steak was fully cooked even in the middle. She got another steak, but it was the way he asked her to cut into the steak that made us feel uneasy. She had one bite of the steak. I get some people scam restaurants, but we had a order over $1400.00 so one steak was not going to make a dent in our pockets. Stopped here for a business dinner. The ambiance is very much old-school steakhouse, which is always fun: white tablecloths, dark wood, and brisk service. My colleagues ordered Manhattans for cocktails which were appropriate for the venue. Kudos to the glass washers. The rims of the water glasses are extremely thin and high-quality. Definitely adds to the upscale feel. I just wouldn't want to be the one to wash those. We started with an appetizer. We chose the calamari. It was ok but not as refined as I expected for the restaurant and not as large as I expected for the price. At $17, it was definitely not enough for 4 people to share. The breading was soggy but the calamari was tender. We each got about 2-3 pieces. The marinara wasn't overly impressive. I would definitely select something different the next time. For dinner, two of my colleagues ordered salads and the small filet at $47. My other colleague chose the brined pork chop at $34 which included potatoes, onions, and sausage. I chose the small ribeye at $51 and asparagus risotto at $9. Everyone enjoyed their meals. I ordered the ribeye as rare as possible but it was served almost medium rare to medium. I went ahead and ate it because it would have been a waste to send it back. The meat was tender, the seasoning was good, unfortunately it was a little salty. The asparagus risotto was also salty. Not too salty to eat, just too salty. I took a little bit of the steak and the risotto to go and it made for a great snack as I was up working late. I had cappuccino and a piece of carrot cake for dessert. The carrot cake was $10. My cohorts had the chocolate mousse $9, tiramisu $11, and the brownie $12. No complaints from any of us. The carrot cake was excellent. The cappuccino was good. Our server was quick, but didn't bring that swanky vibe you expect from a nice steakhouse. Overall, a decent experience. I would ask for light salt the next time and pick a different appetizer. My meal, alone, was probably about $80 (I only drank water) before tax and tip. With 1-2 drinks it would easily hit $100. I'm not 100% I would consider it a $100 meal. It was good. Not glorious. Definitely worth a stop if you like the old school steakhouse vibe (which I do). read more

Went back to Chris Michael's on my first full day back in NY/NJ from Seattle. I needed a hangover lunch being a bit woozy from the night before. Dmitri was working the bar, and he remembered me, although I haven't been in NJ for close to a year. His charm and friendly greeting knocked much of the wooziness out of me, as did his Bloody Mary. My filet tip risotto was delicious and settled my upset stomach. It was so good, I want some now! Dimitri made me feel so welcome, and the food never disappoints. After being away from my significant other for 2 months, he wanted to celebrate our get together with a nice steak dinner, somewhere local. We had dined at this restaurant once before, more than 10 years ago, and could only recall us having no problems so we decided to return to the restaurant. Before going, we called ahead just to be sure that the wait wouldn't be too long. Being that it was a rainy Tuesday night, we were informed that there was no wait. When we arrived, the first thing I noticed was a printed "Dress Code Policy" standing on the host's podium. I had a chance to quickly read through it and next thing I knew, we were following the hostess to the table. As we were walking, I whispered to my partner, "they have a dress code" and just as I finished whispering, the hostess turned to me and TOLD, not asked, but told me to remove my hat. I was a little offended, but I obliged. Like mentioned earlier, it was a rainy Tuesday night so the place did not look busy at all. There was 2 large parties of five and six guests and 2 tables of a couple. As we walked past the table of a large party, I noticed one of the guest wearing athletic wear; something that was addressed in their Dress Code policy. We were seated at our table and as I looked back, one of the couple was wearing a hoodie; another article of clothing that went against their policy. AND THEN when we were being served water, the server/busboy was wearing a cap!!! I couldn't help but think that I was being targeted for wearing a tweed hat, not a baseball cap like he was wearing, but a hat. Please do better. As far as the food goes, it was good. The kitchen did their thing. The food was flavorful, aesthetically pleasing, hot and edible. We started with a calamari appetizer and it was really good. I had the 8 oz. filet cooked medium well and was perfect for me. I had the side of fries and risotto and both were really good. My partner had the skirt steak and he seemed to have enjoyed it as well. All in all, if it weren't for the food, I would've given it a lower rating? The place was beautiful and I can see which direction they're going, but I personally felt they weren't being fair to all (implementing their dress code policy and all.) Having heard people mention this place so many times over the past few years I must say that the hype was not warranted in my opinion. PLEASE UNDERSTAND that this review is not against the venue, it was very nice. It is not against the staff, they were Great, polite, & friendly. It's certainly not against the drinks, they were strong as hell. It's not against the presentation of the food, or the wait, or parking, or anything else. The experience itself was great! So why only 3 stars? Because EVERYTHING we had, I can name at least 3 other places we've gone & had it done much better. You get your standard complimentary bread & butter, the bread was warm, soft & fresh, the butter was whipped & unsalted....THAT is a preference issue, had to add salt to the butter. Not a strike against them. Appetizers were Lobster bisque and Firecracker Shrimp & Calamari (you get both in the order). The Shrimp & Calamari combo was good, but it's supposed to be sweet w/a kick of spicy. This was not at all spicy, & had, at best, a hint of sweetness. This is one of our favorite dishes to order whenever we see it on a menu, & this version didn't measure up. The lobster bisque....I will not even go into full detail, I'm just going to say that I've had many lobster bisques that were more flavorful than this, most with actual Lobster meat in them. This was meatless & VERY bland. Main dishes were Lamb chops, which were a saving grace. Very tender, very flavorful, prepared to perfection. These were among the best we've had. Double Trouble- It is a burger w/pulled short ribs on it. Sounds great, was prepared great, was presented great, Yet....it was bland. There was nothing that added anything special to this "special" burger. No fancy sauce, no premium seasoning or flavor added to/from the short ribs. It just comes with a small side of ketchup. Again, my point is, whenever I have a special burger...they go all out to jazz it up & give it a great flavor. This was just a fancy presentation burger. So, 3 stars because they are great as far as drinks & ambience, but I was completely unimpressed by the taste of the food. Would I go back? If that's where friends wanna go, Yes! On my own? I'm in Jersey for a work contract and wanted to try a nice steakhouse. I looked up places on google and this was one of the first ones to come up, so I decided to try it. It was REALLY good! I had a NY Strip and it was perfect. The temperature was just right, it was well seasoned. The broccoli was cooked perfectly and so were the fries. I would definitely go back. We got there without a reservation so there was a long wait but the hostess told us they had high tables at the bar that were basically the same thing. Im glad we listened because the bartender was kind and helpful. We ordered a seafood platter, seared scallops and steak. Overall, the highlight of the meal were the scallops and the service. I was disappointed the the seafood platter because it wasn't as fresh as it should've been. It felt like the shrimp were defrosted and sitting in the fridge for maybe a couple of days but we ate it because we were hungry lol the steak was good too but nothing out of this world. Approached by my server, I believe his name was Jovani. I ordered a delicious lychee martini with vanilla vodka, a few littleneck clams, mushroom, truffle risotto with filet tips. My bread basket came out along with my clams. Clams were so fresh and served in a silver bowl surrounded by ice. Great presentation!! Bread was nice and warm with whipped creamy butter. Jovani and nice friendly young lady who helped me open the tiny bottle of hot sauce, were pleasantly checking on me. I like this kind of treatment. I little laughter makes the experience that more special. So the dinner comes out, presentation was absolutely beautiful. My absolute favorite part was the taste and texture. It was dreamy. Risotto was cooked perfectly and the right amount of truffle oil. I can see the mushrooms. I slowly ate every bite like it was my first bite. So good I didn't want it to end. My other half showed up and said that looks good, which translates to -can I try it. He loved it and ordered one for himself. All the while I ate the whole thing. My favorite dish. Came here for a private Halloween party last week, and the food was just fine. There were 2 sushi platters in the middle of the room and the entrees were served buffet-style. The sushi platter was okay, lacking flavor for the most part. The only sushi I genuinely enjoyed was one that was topped with seared salmon, though I don't know the name of it. After reading through their menu, I think it could be the M-16 roll. If you come here for sushi, I'd recommend ordering that. I also tried the prime rib, steak (filet mignon possibly), seafood paella, steamed veggies, roasted potatoes, and some chicken dish. The paella, prime rib, and potatoes were really good - everything else was okay. Veggies tasted soggy and steak was dry. I think the paella and chicken are only part of a buffet-style private party menu because I don't see them on the lunch or dinner menus online. The one thing I'll give major props to though is the staff, specifically Steve and the bartender. Steve, the guy at the carving station, was extremely nice. And the bartender who was working the open bar for our party catered to so many people so efficiently by himself; hope he was tipped really well by everyone! I've read a lot of reviews complaining about valet parking, but I was able to park my own car for free with no issues. read more

After living in this area for over 20 years and passing this restaurant hundreds of times, this was our first visit. We were celebrating my birthday and I was in the mood for a steak and didn't feel like driving all the way to Capital Grille so we decided to give this place a try. Overall a good experience. The food was very good and the service was fine. I had a tasty pomegranate Cosmo. The lyonnaise potatoes were excellent and my New York strip was cooked at the proper temperature. My biggest issue with this place is the noise level. We were seated at a table near the entrance and the din was extremely loud. Definitely not the atmosphere for a romantic dinner. I think there was more seating around a corner that I couldn't see that may possibly be a bit quieter. They are a bit pricey and for the price paid, over $300 for two, I don't want to feel like I'm in a diner. I would give the place another try and ask for a seat away from the entrance. read more

From the time I reserved to the end of dinner, their service was fantastic. Our server was pleasant and accommodating and I thanked him for putting up with our large table lol. Crab cakes, oysters Rockefeller, wedge salad, steaks, pork chops, French onion soup, risotto, mashed potatoes, broccoli, creamed spinach and steak salad were on the main course, along with a good part of the dessert menu lol.
