I try my best to base my ratings on the category/class of restaurant. So for Christie's, marketed as a "steakhouse", I have to compare with other steakhouses. In this case, it was a difficult task deciding to give it 3 or 4 stars. I'll start off with the positive. The steaks (NY Strip and Fillet) we're both cooked perfectly to medium rare. They were seasoned well. The onion soup (which is one of my things) was real good. So they get a big check on the steak and onion soup. The staff was polite, but it seemed to be under staffed. There were very few people here, so if they got a surprise rush of diners, they would have been blown out. Christie's did not have a defined atmosphere, other than generic hotel restaurant. Not bad, but not what you expect for a steakhouse. The menu was limited and the sides that came with our steaks were mediocre. They did have a nice selection from a well presented dessert tray though. And this restaurant is pricey, it's on the low side for a steakhouse. So again, a mixed bag here which is why it was difficult to rate; but they did get the steaks right. So I will likely return as it is local for me, but I would not go out of my way to get here.

My brother and his family were supposed to be staying at this hotel while they were in town and that is how we ended up here. They weren't able to make it into town because of bad weather, but we still came here to eat. I like steak. I really like steak. I am not afraid to admit that. I'm more interested in knowing where my meat comes from now that I live in the Pacific Northwest, but I'm not to the point where I ask every establishment where they get their meat. Most places in Oregon tell you. Hasn't seemed to hit this part of the country although I'm guessing it has in New York City. I ordered the Stella Artois marinated rib eye. That was a 12oz rib eye steak marinated in beer (call me Captain Obvious), rosemary, Dijon mustard and garlic and grilled. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes and veggies. I asked for it medium and it came out nice and medium. Plenty of food. A bit on the spendy side at $23.95, but the steak was very good, full of flavor and there was plenty of food on that plate. The dessert cart looked great as well. I went with the white chocolate cake. I wish I had a better description for it, but I can't really recall what it actually was. What I can recall is that it was very good and nicely presented. All the food was nicely presented. i can't say I would go out of my way to come here. I don't often hang out at hotels unless I'm traveling, but this place has been here for a while and good food is good food.

Good service. Okay location with parking lot (it's in the crown plaza hotel). We had shrimp and clams appetizer to start and we had herb salmon and steak frites. Overall food was good. Food took little time to get, but overall okay dinner experience. We went as Social Living customer. Price overall average to expensive side.

We had Brunch at "The One", the Rooftop at Tommy's and the overall setting was so beautiful. Since it was the height of summer, it was less crowded, so we were able to get seated at the sofa lounge which was more comfortable. So how did I wind up back here? Bit of a story but if you read my first review you'll see how I met a friend that I met online 13 years ago for the first time and this was the place we went for dinner after an event. Well, now a year later, her and I were traveling together north to Parsippany and this was the closest restaurant that looked appealing. It was not until we enter the parking lot I said out loud, this is where we had our first dinner. Anyways, enough of that love story. I really want to give this two stars for service but the food really pushed it over the top. So all in all I will keep it as a four star review. I want to address the food first, I had the short rib tacos, and my partner had eggplant caprice flatbread. I had a bite of hers which I absolutely enjoyed, eggplant had a nice crisp to it which really made it enjoyable. The short rib tacos... holy crap! Mind blown. I did not expect such great flavor in such a small bite. Everything about the tacos packed a punch. I would much rather have had six tacos and no chips and salsa. As for the service, this is where I got frustrated and my cash tip hopefully reconcile with my server. We dined on the rooftop which was completely empty minus a couple at the bar. We seated and ordered our beverages. I did not get my lime with my lemon water. After we ordered our meals, and received them, a server never came back to check in with us. I wasn't a big fan of her attitud either. It started to get busy I noticed that the host kept seating everyone around us when there was an entire floor to sit people at. Not sure if they're trying to keep people in one specific area but for how slow it was they certainly could've given everyone more privacy. I'm pretty sure the couple that was seated next to us got up and left for that reason. Cannot say I will not be back but who knows when I'll be traveling through again.

As I approached the door--something many others had done before me--I was abruptly stopped by a man who turned out to be the owner. He rudely told me "NO," and then followed up with "Would you walk into a refrigerator in a restaurant?" Honestly, if the refrigerator was in the middle of where the party was being held, then yes, I probably would--especially if there was no signage saying it was off-limits. Only after this encounter did he put up an "Employees Only" sign, which tells me it wasn't clearly marked before. This could have been handled in a much more respectful and professional manner. The owner's attitude was unnecessarily rude and confrontational. If he expects people not to go in, proper signage should be in place before the event begins, not after making guests feel unwelcome.

I had a couple of sips. The bread they brought out was fantastic. One of the best breads ever. The pasta was amazing. I really enjoyed it. We had the buccatini with guaclian (sp?). So I really looking forward to the Pizza. We put in the order for our pizza, went to the men's room and when I came back the pizza was on our table. Very strange it was so fast in less than 5 minutes. I am sorry to say the pizza was horrible. Soggy crust and dry pizza, not sure how that is even possible. Crust and pizza in general had no taste. I had this strange feeling the pizza might be premade and maybe they just add the topping for your order I don't know. Overall, it was very much a tale of 2 cities. Iffy service and horrid pizza.
